    This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen😮. Do you have any other plans with 3d printing monsters? Perhaps 3d print another turret mount for the E-100 and you deserve more subs.👍

      Mhh... I was at some point considering the alternative Schmalturm Turret ( i.imgur.com/YtAwYxU.jpg ) but then _really_ couldn't pass on the Mouse one - Though there's not a lot standing in the way of simply making a second Turret at some point.
      A Project I'm currently "working" on would be a Versuchsträger VT 1-2 ( imgur.com/a/w6hVSkg ) with the aim of simplifying the build by reusing spare parts ( like Tracks, Swing Arms, etc... ) from existing Tank Kits.
      I also preemptively got myself a set of 1/16 Maus Tracks ( i.imgur.com/qKn71ac.jpg ) should I ever plan on building one allowing the reuse of the Turret Design and just having to make the Chassis which should be a lot easier than that of the E-100 as most of the running gear is hidden from view and as such can be designed with some artistic freedom.

    Hello, did you make the whole model on a 3D printer? It's hard to believe it's perfect! What 3d printer did you use and what material? Regards

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the larger parts ( Turret, Chassis, Main Barrel ) were done on a 350 sized Voron V2.4 FDM 3D Printer with the smaller detail parts ( Tracks, Wheels, Muzzle Break, Tools, Engine Deck, etc... ) were done on a Formlabs Form³ SLA 3D Printer ( standard Formlabs Grey V4 ).
      The Build Log in the Video Description makes it fairly clear what was done with which 3D Printer... Everything light grey was done in SLA with everything dark grey and white being done in FDM ( ASA being the Material ).
      ASA - like its ABS Brother - allows for easy Post Processing like Sanding and almost Welding like gluing but can also be moulded with a Soldering Iron which I've used for creating the Flame Cuts on the heavy Turret and Chassis Armor Sections.
      And some parts ( Swing Arms, Towing Shackles ) were done by casting ZAMAK into a High Temperature Silicone Mould that was done with an SLA Master.
      Most Dimensions were taken of a smaller 1/16 scale Version with others taken of a 1/16 Tamiya King Tiger ( the entire Engine Deck ) as it would allow the use of Photo Etch Parts made for a KT instead of attempting in making my own.

    Excuse me, but where can I buy this model for assembly? I really like this thing and would like to try to collect E-100

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to disappoint your ambition in obtaining a variant of _this_ particular model.
      Even just the raw Material Cost with my Equipment would already have it cost above 600.- which doesn't even include the time and labor cost.
      It would also not include the Costs for all the additional Hardware required I'd have to source to deliver a by the customer finish able model.
      You're most definitely cheaper off getting a _Hooben_ E-100 ( Porsche Turret Variant ) and if need be, modifying that one to your needs.

      The first time I saw it was a small-scale Model of it on *_Pinterest_* while browsing for other scale models.
      Later it piqued my interest again while watching *_World of Tanks_* videos and it kind of remained stuck in memory ever since until I got my own 1/35 *_Trumpeter_*_ E-100_ Kit but with a different Turret more akin to that of a _King Tiger_ and not like this one with a _Mouse_ Turret: i.imgur.com/YtAwYxU.jpg
      The overall geometry is based on the *_Trumpeter_*_ E-100_ Chassis, and a *_Platz_*_ Girls und Panzer_ themed _Maus_ Turret ( i.imgur.com/4y1EJ3z.jpg ) with intricate details like that of the Engine Deck taken off my 1/16 scale *_Tamiya_*_ __#56018__ King Tiger_ as their design is similar enough to let me assume they'd in fact be the same and would allow the use of Photo Etch Kits made for the King Tiger: i.imgur.com/OyGBpYG.jpg.
      Details like the third Cannon, the shape of the front Light, and the location of the Towing Cables and Barrel Cleaning Rods were just late additions by me to add a little bit of extra personality to the model. The same is also true for the camouflage pattern 😁

    How do you print this gourgeous tank in 1/16?

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว

      In *_lots_* of smaller pieces: i.imgur.com/BmSIkad.jpg 🤔
      The model could certainly have been 3D Printed in fewer and thus larger sections, but I wanted absolute strength and rigidity which is why I designed and built it in this flat panel design that has no risk of the 3D Printed parts splitting apart at Layer Lines. That and it also allowed me to make use of the interlocking armor plates like the original had ( the Chassis is practically an upgraded Tiger 3, and the Turret is after all from a Maus with either of them having this very prominent feature ).
      The Video Description has a link to a "Poor Man's Blog" discussing the design and build process of the Project 😉

    With metal tracks this would be a killer

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mhh... The Electronics ( Controller, Gearboxes, Servos, LEDs, Flash Unit, etc... ) alone I'd calculate at roughly 600.-, about 300.- worth of Resin for the Running Gear and Detail Parts ( Engine Deck, Turret Periscopes and Vents, Muzzle Break, Gun Mantled, Skirts, Tools, etc... ), 100.- worth of ASA Filament for the Chassis and Turret plus another 100.- for off the Shelf parts like Magnets, Screws, Bearings, Steel Cables, Scale Model PE Parts, and probably another 100.- or so in Post Processing Materials like Sanding Paper, Tamiya Putty / Epoxy Putty, Primer, Paints, Weathering Materials and Top Coatings. So about 1'200.- in just raw material cost not including any work time like the CAD modelling, the 3D Printing, the Silicone & Metal Casting, the CNC Milling and all of the Post Processing ( sanding, surfacing, masking, painting, weathering, etc... ).
      To be fair though I went balls to the wall with the model with very little money spared to make it... The resin I work with is Formlabs Resin which is notoriously expensive ( like 4-6x that of what ppl usually yeet into their Elegoo Printers ). The amount of ASA Filament used for the model could be lessened by simply not designing it with scale accurate thick armor... Most 3D printable models out there have like 1-2mm thick armor plates all around... The Turret and Chassis front Plates of mine are like 13mm thick if I recall correctly 🤔
      Metal Tracks would certainly be nice but the only store I know of making ones for an E-100 ( assuming they're still making them ) sells them for I think like 1'500.- a pop which is a big fat nope from me and making my own with the current tools at hand - while not impossible - would be a R.F.P.I.T.A. to pull off 😑
      But at 5.9kg the last time I measured it I'd consider it decently heavy enough.

    • @Cormano980
      @Cormano980 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Duraltia wow, that's a lot of work yeah , and definitely not cheap but I know that rabbit hole, I have a Ludwig kit , metal KT which in the end it got me at 3000+€ with wecohe, aber and dklm parts
      Regarding the metal tracks Hooben might sell them separately, I don't know for sure , other option is Giesswerk but very expensive, although at 5.9kg your 3d printed ones should be ok

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cormano980 Mhh... Didn't know Hooben would have them available as spares but then again, they're not made out of metal either - At least not the ones for the E-100 ( or the Maus which I'm super tempted in getting for a partial D.I.Y. Project 🤔 ).

    • @Duraltia
      @Duraltia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Cormano980 Huh... Apparently, they _do_ indeed offer the option of metal tracks though the details on how much they'd cost were... How should I describe it... _"lackluster."_
      The conversation was about 1/16 E-100 and Maus tracks / Drive Sprockets, and they replied with prices for 1/10 Merkava parts in the 1'700.- range - *_/sigh_* 😑
      On closer inspection the Ejector Pin Marks, and sharp Mould Lines on their E-100 Tracks are kind of rubbing me the wrong way as either of those would be highly visible on the E-100 ( especially with most of the removable Skirts not installed which is how I intend to roll ). I'll probably just get myself a set of Nylon Maus Tracks for a future project and call it a day as they'll be completely hidden underneath the massive armor.
      Have my thanks for bringing them up! 😁
