I got the chance to save a baby Canadian Goose 2 years ago. I was working at an animal shelter in my town. Faith and Milo were in the East Yard (we had 3 yards N, E, and S). Thank God the 2 dogs were distracted, because I saw a baby goose walking through the yard. If I hadn't been out there to see her, it could have ended up very badly. I took her inside and we were able to contact a rescue, so they could vet check her and eventually release her. It was a pretty awesome feeling. She wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't seen her walking through the yard.I nicknamed her Velma. I don't know why Velma came to me, but it was the first name that came to mind 😂
Our job on this planet is be the caretaker, the groundskeeper, the janitor

It's so nice when you help an animal inm distress. I was a night trunk lorry driver in Britain, and over the years, I helped two Owls, a Fox cub, and a Badger. nothing like an elephant or a horse, but still satisfying to help.

I've saved or rescue animals of all sizes all of my life but the most weird was this.. I was doing heavy yard work in my parents front yard.. there was a big plastic cauldron filled with winter rain that we had been putting plastic bags from store bought plants (my parents had died 5 months apart and the plants were gifts) I was deep in sorrowful as I started pulling the water soaked plastic out and was surprised to find a lizard deep in the water.. I quickly pulled out more plastic and found 3 more.. without thinking I went and sat in the sun on the front steps.. I put one lizard on each of my bare thighs and one lizard on each side of my upper chest.. I just sat there not thinking about anything for quite a while when I saw one of the lizards on my thigh twitch it's head.. I just sat quietly and long story short each of the lizards began moving until they hopped off of me. I was quietly happy but when I told someone about this they said that probably the lizards were not in the water that long but I know they were.. I googled it and it said they could hold their breathe for around an hour. Hard for me to believe but I know they were tangled deep in the water and plastic for much much longer than that..
I was told by a Reiki practitioner who worked in the large medical building where I worked that I had healing hands. She helped me pull together stories of animals I had healed or rescued over the many years of my life..Now, as I get closer to the end of my own life I want acknowledge that, yes, maybe I was able to help animals but I was never able to save any of my own family that I lost to illness.. including my beautiful 21 year old grandson to a terrible cancer.. life is so strange and it can be very heartbreaking.. you do the best you can for all the ones you can and that is a blessing you can take with you.❤
