I honestly think ABH could drop Subculture right now as it is* and it'd still be a hit. That colour story is a work of art! *I'd hope with a much better formula lol. The one I owned the mattes were on the soft side but nothing crazy, but Cube and Electric were too hard-pressed or something and would instantly hardpan with barely any payoff -_- So annoying as Electric especially was one of my fave shades in the palette!
I still use mine (from the reformulated batch) to this day, and is one of my FAVORITES palettes I have, sometimes I just open it to look and feel inspired lol. The formula works great for me and the color story is to die for
I just bought Subculture at TJ Maxx last year and i pair it with Adept Plain Jane and Heather Austin. I love this idea! I' m planning on doing this for ColourPop Good Sport. The formula never worked for me but i really enjoy the palette shades together. Excited to see your future editions to this series!
Awesome video, Milly! I’m a big fan of Subculture and have already brought her out a couple of times this autumn. The mattes pair so beautifully with my indie shimmers and chromes. Thanks for paying homage to this iconic palette!
I loved this! I semi recently bought the subculture palette from tj maxx because i legit could not stop thinking about it all these years 😂 it's still a cool palette and i def think abh should rerelease it
Omg, this has reminded me to buy a backup! Love the original and your version 😍 I love having a deep teal or a plum in a palette, preferably both! Fairy Fire is most perrrrrfect shadow for this palette 🧚♀️
Thank you Milly. This was a great way to pend some Sunday time. I love watching you pull a palette together. Your artist’s eye and understanding of texture and techniques is pulling a great colour story together. You’ve built a better palette ♥️🍁🧡
This was fun! Yes, Axis and Rowdy are needed tones in there. It's still such a cool colour story. An indie brand should do it with 3 multichromes like you've done here but matching the depths and tones of the mattes
I could totally see Devinah making a similar color story of a bundle! Come to think of it, didn’t Sydney Grace make a single eyeshadow bundle for this palette? 🤔
It reminds me of the Adept Heather Austin palette. When it first launched, I was like ok that’s basically indie Subculture V2. I have enough dupes in my collection to not buy it but it’s a gorgeous array.
I loooooved this palette when it came out. Used to wear Roxy and new wave with untamed as eyeliner every day. This palette and the sage palette from kvd were my jam. Love this series, bringin back the memoriiiieees❤
Aarrrrgggghhhh I love the way that the 2023 version looks _ it's absolutely everything I love in a colour story { especailly for this time of year in the U.K - it's 2 degrees celsius right now on this AUtumn day } and I just get cozy vibes from that new revised version.
i love it sooo much when youtubers with big singles collections make Palette Making videos dupe the vibes, byop, creating palettes inspired by a painting/era/drink etc
I love this video!!! Such a great idea!! I have Subculture but rarely use it because the formula isn't that great and gets patchy, but I Love the colorstory! Now I'm thinking I can dupe this with all my Natasha Denona Shadows and some indie multichromes!! ❤❤❤❤
@@badtothebrow I don't have Safari😢 but I do have Metropolis Bronze, and Yucca, and feel maybe some of those may dupe🤔 I wish she would bring Safari back tho, I'd totally buy it! I'm waiting for Black Friday sales to purchase the Lila palette. I think some of the Adept multichromes would look nice toosince they are also removable pans!!!
Combining such a deep almost blackened plum with mustard and teal was such a stroke of color theory genius that it's truly such a shame ABH missed the mark on the formula. Love the series idea, I also think it'd be cool to include a couple of palettes from brands that are similar/in the same vein that have come out since. Shroud's Hallo Bean, Heather Austin X Adept, and Viseart Dark Mattes, come to mind. Great vid and excited for the series!
I'm inspired to do this now too! I have done this colour story before but have since brought in some interesting multi chromes to my collection. Time for a redo!
What a great idea! I want to do this with my single shadows!! I don’t have a lot of single mattes, since I gravitate to the shifty shiny shades when I’m placing my orders.. this video is making me want to use my very old subculture palette on my eyes tho! I love that thing! Lol
This is going to be the most fun series to watch! I love the video concept and the creativity that went into this. Your version looks like it’s so much better 😂 I only have Soft Glam and it was just never my favorite. I like some of the shades but it didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion, plus the shimmers didn’t do anything for me lol. So glad I’ve since discovered indie eyeshadow! Can’t wait to see what other palettes you wind up recreating ❤
I feel the exact same about subculture. When it first came out, it literally altered my brain chemistry 😂 this colour story will always be one of my favourites but the formula was a hit or miss to work with for me. Loving this idea ❤
I'm late to the party but i absolutely love this concept and hope you'll do more!! To me, Micka Beauty Shop Serpent is kind of the 2023 Subculture of the indie world. I still really love the OG Subculture, I fused mine with the Prism palette and I love the frankened result!
omg I love this video format and I'm so excited that this is a series!!
I love this concept! Subculture had such a great color palette. I mean the tones 😍
I honestly think ABH could drop Subculture right now as it is* and it'd still be a hit. That colour story is a work of art!

I agree, they should re-launch with an updated formula in their new palette layout I think people would be soooo excited to see it!
I still use mine (from the reformulated batch) to this day, and is one of my FAVORITES palettes I have, sometimes I just open it to look and feel inspired lol. The formula works great for me and the color story is to die for
I open mine too just to feel the vibes~ 🤣
Wow the Subculture mattes still swatch so beautifully!! ❤
Very pigmented!

Good sport is soooo good omg!!
Love this idea!!!! Would love to see you do 2023 versions of other classics like Urban Decay Naked (the original!) and ABH Modern Renaissance!
Definitely Modern Ren! That one is another legendary palette that would hold up now
This was really fun to watch. Just taking one of the most iconic palettes, and giving it an update is so smart.
Awesome video, Milly! I’m a big fan of Subculture and have already brought her out a couple of times this autumn. The mattes pair so beautifully with my indie shimmers and chromes. Thanks for paying homage to this iconic palette!

Very similar grungy vibes for sure!
Good eye!! Didn’t even notice that but definitely both beautiful 💚
That's why i love single eyeshadows ! You can play with them and have your best version of some palette you probably don't have money to spend on ❤
Watching you build this palette was immensely satisfying! I seriously love this idea for a series! Great video :)
Thank you!! I wasn’t sure what people would think of this series but Im glad it’s so well received
I still have a look playlist i reference when i whip this one out. Its fall so it's time. The douchromes are so good!
I loooooved this palette when it came out. Used to wear Roxy and new wave with untamed as eyeliner every day. This palette and the sage palette from kvd were my jam. Love this series, bringin back the memoriiiieees❤
Very nostalgic everytime i open it!
That was fun. I need to pull out my singles and build some color stories.
Yes!! It’s so satifying!
This was very cool! I would love to see some looks with this. You really did this palette Justice. Your version would do very good as a release.
Where can I buy your version?
Aarrrrgggghhhh I love the way that the 2023 version looks _ it's absolutely everything I love in a colour story { especailly for this time of year in the U.K - it's 2 degrees celsius right now on this AUtumn day } and I just get cozy vibes from that new revised version.

You totally should! Especially if you have the ND Safari palette I think you can easily dupe it
@@badtothebrow I don't have Safari😢 but I do have Metropolis Bronze, and Yucca, and feel maybe some of those may dupe🤔 I wish she would bring Safari back tho, I'd totally buy it! This turned out so beautiful!

I was actually thinking of the Viseart Dark Mattes with these tones! It would be fun to do a version with it + Clionadh shadows
❤❤❤❤❤❤loving this 2023 version.
Love seeing the finished result and your process!!! I def prefer your 2023 version to the original! 🫶🏾
Thank you Smita!

great redo, fantastic color story!
Thanks so much!

Great video. I depotted my subculture recently and kept 4 shades
This is so fun. I love your BYOP vids. Your eye for colour is unmatched. Also, we're wearing the same nail colour ♥️😂.
What a great question! Love this style of vid Milly!
Yay, thank you!
That was such an interesting video! Love the concept of it :D
Glad you enjoyed it!
This has inspired me to dupe this from my collection ☺️
I'm so glad!
I really think it was before it’s time. It would do great now with the 90’s grunge look coming back.
💯 lets start a petition 🤣
I feel the exact same about subculture. When it first came out, it literally altered my brain chemistry 😂 this colour story will always be one of my favourites but the formula was a hit or miss to work with for me. Loving this idea ❤
Haha it’s such a great way to put it! The mattes were super powdery it was definitely not the easiest to use.
I'm late to the party but i absolutely love this concept and hope you'll do more!! To me, Micka Beauty Shop Serpent is kind of the 2023 Subculture of the indie world. I still really love the OG Subculture, I fused mine with the Prism palette and I love the frankened result!
what a cool video concept, i love this!!
Me waiting a whole 15 minutes for you to realize it was only a 10 pan 😂😂😂 Love these types of videos!
Lmao I was heartbroken
OMG, @badtothebrow have you been reading my diary?
🤣 great minds think alike!
I got a good one and always loved it
Ugh I wanted subculture soooo bad when it came out, but the mixed reviews made me not buy it. I should try to do something like this with my singles
1:23 10 pan
FIRST
❤️✨❤️
🩺
I literally just commented that they should re-release in their new pan sizes on IG lol. I'm happy we're all still thinking about it. Tfs :)
They really should!! Fingers crossed
That is so gorgeous! 🥹 If they launched something like that the beauty world would go crazy lol 💚🖤
