I like to think this isn’t the Death Star from A New Hope, but instead the Death Star III from Star Tours. Red Squadron is attacking one side, Rogue Squadron is attacking the other.
I needed so many tries on that level, that when I finally made it (without a medal), for a second I doubted whether I made it or just failed again. The music implied the former, but seeing that red emblem for the umpteenth time without any cutscene before it made me unsure lol.
I always wondered why this bonus mission was so barebones compared to the rest of the game. They already had the Death Star image with the space background in the Select Craft section. They just had to add an explosion and call it a day. Literally the simplest ending cutscene ever.
"I'm clear but my fighter is down"
Sorry you didn't get the memo but that's not anything to be happy about, given how this mission is supposed to end.
Great shot, kid. That was one in a million.
Remember, the force will be with you, always.
This level visibly took some, well, shall we say, creative liberties.
Yeah, the engine REALLY wasn't up to doing it properly.
Probably part of why a much much more faithful effort was how they kicked off the sequel.
In my personal headcanon, the Trench Run here is some sort of simulator run Luke and Rogue Squadron are doing together.
“Great shot, kid that was 1 in a Million!”
“Remember the Force will be with you always.”
As someone who only played Rogue Leader as a tiny kid, this looks hilarious but impressive for the technology at the time

Let him go. Stay on the leader. I'm on the leader.
Luke, trust in your feelings. Use the force, luke. Let go, Luke. Luke, trust me.
Rebel technician: His computer's off. Luke, you switched off your targeting computer. What's wrong?
Luke (radio): Nothing. I'm all right.
@@broden4838 artoo: WAAAAAAGH!
@@reubenguttenberg7405 Luke: I lost R2!
I always thought this mission was missing an explosion end scene at least.. the final shot is so underwhelming

I have you now. WHAT!?
YAHOO!
TIE pilot: Look out! (bumps into Vader's ship)
@@broden4838 Han Solo: You're all clear kid, now let's blow this thing and go home!
How the heck do you make it look so easy? I didn't even get a medal on this one (and have gotten silver anywhere else)
Stay in attack formation
Darth Vader: The Force is strong with this one...
I wouldn't recommend attempting any barrel rolls, you'll instantly crash... Especially outside of the trench.
I lost r2
Yavin Base PA: The Death Star has cleared the planet! The Death Star has cleared the planet!
You're all clear, kid. Now let's blow this thing and go home.
Who here thought this would've been the first mission?
Just say what you have to say
