It is so refreshing to hear the honesty of a content creator admitting when they don't have experience against an oppressive card (like you said with not playing against amped raptor) It feels like content creators want to seem like they know everything about every format
Just a correction, explorer doesn't have alchemy cards. It is pioneer with less sets because Arena started late so there are sets that are legal in pioneer that have never been in arena, that is why they have things like adding tarkir, or pioneer masters to Arena to try to match the format more and more, they have said they are working to turn explorer into pioneer but it will take a while as we are still missing stuff
Wait, does Modern not have a limit option for cards? I have trouble understanding the thought process that such a “why isn’t this banned?” card was allowed to have the full four copies in a deck.
I unironically think there should be 1v1 60 card commander formats. The lack of a central card build around is the main reason I don't play standard or modern.
I don't _want_ to play a vague collection of cards like "gruul ramp" or "dimir control", I want to have a solid, centralizing theme, and most Magic really just doesn't have that.
IMO one of the few things that Yugioh actually does better than Magic is archetypes. All archetypal cards are inherently parasitic and rely on other cards from their archetype. This means two decks featuring the same archetype will have a similar gameplan, but there's enough flexibility where you're able to combine archetypes and generic cards to make something unique.
You know, I have a One Ring, so the price drop would kinda suck...if I didn't have three Mox Opals from back when I really enjoyed Scars of Mirrodin XD
Boros Energy is still going to be fairly powerful even with Raptor banned but it will still feel slightly less powerful with some the biggest energy pay offs ripped out of the deck. The main card they should have it hit in my opinion was Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury as more overall health of the format banning card. Having both of those cards banned would heavily help a major issue of the format overall. All the unbannings were perfectly great even though I left IRL modern because of Splinter Twin because back then the combo felt pretty easy to pull off and with spirit guide legal in the format made it easier to pull off. Now with spirit guide banned and way better removal it's at a good spot to be unbanned. The only issue with Twin I see is that it can slot in decks fairly easily with a control package with Force still being legal in the format. But I don't think overall it will be a issue like older modern back in the day and really easy to side board into. Mox unbanning is going to be a little scary that one most likely have to watch which decks take it.
I have a brilliant idea, lets print mana crypt into modern, it will probably be run in every deck, so there won't be one "mana crypt" deck. Therefore, mana crypt is perfectly divided and thus it is a healthy card for modern. -WOTC probably
@@topherrobeson4446 Hmm, but I think, that since so many companions left the format, modern horizon's 4 should release with 5 mono-color "designed for modern" companions to accompany this rules change.
I think standard, modern and pioneer are still dead formats and commander is going to continue its dominance. Especially in these next 4 years when even the whales will be strapped for cash and have to forgo picking up 4 mox opals in order to pay for rent/food.
Buying a single is speed running time spent playing paper MtG. I have never bought a Mox Opal. I have three from drafting over the last twenty-six years. That’s how it works. I have four Survival of the Fittest, I’ve had them since ‘98. You’re complaining about purchasing time.
@ More like started playing after 2017. I got my playset of Force of Will drafting sets here in the last few years. That’s also how I got my copies of Liliana of the Veil. I haven’t purchased a single fetchland. I have playsets of most of them and at least a copy of each. Just play the game and you’ll be surprised how many high end playable cards you accidentally have after a few years.
So what happens when someone gets into the game...today? Do they just suck it up for multiple years before being able to play with their friends at local tournaments? That's a terrible take for any game to consider, at all. Don't gatekeep game pieces, let people enjoy playing magic the gathering.
@ If someone starts today, in an ideal world they would start in Standard. When their deck rotated, they’d use the pieces which hasn’t rotated to build something new from the pieces they drafted. After a few seasons they’d have pieces for Pioneer and up the chain they go. People buy into Eternal formats to circumvent the natural progression. Preserving value is incredibly healthy for the game. Without value there aren’t any whales. Without whales, the game stops getting expansions and dies.
I like how everyone knew the one ring was getting banned before the announcement so it tanked to half of its previous price weeks before.

In before green sun is used for Prime Time

Vintage is the only format that limits cards. For every other format, cards are either banned or legal. Wizards just prefers to do it that way.
Gotta say, I adore the cat man model
I was not expecting husbando Suris.

Me too, maybe I can afford one now. Foolish me didn't buy them right away.
This is why I said wotc controlling edh is bad profit > game health

I'd argue that Tron transitioned from a Tempo deck to a Control deck w/ MH3
New avatar! Pog

We can print Jeweled Lotus into modern and say the three mana counts for Companions

@jaceg810 I should have said I was being sarcastic with my post
@@topherrobeson4446 I think that was well understood, continuing the joke of "what would be an absurd way for wotc to greed further"

yes, not being able to play a card deck bc you werent born before 1980 is a bad thing
