It's Just Gardening.
Gardening is simple, just plant it and let them grow. Gardening in the DMV area, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
I live in suburban Northern Virginia Zone 7a. I converted my front and back yard into a garden food forest, hoping to have all year-round produce.
In addition to growing greens, I also grow some Cold Hardy trees and plants, like different varieties of Russian pomegranate, citrumelo, pineapple guava, yuzu lemon, Meyer lemon, and oranges. Some are in the ground outdoors and in an unheated greenhouse.
Below is the list of my plants:
pawpaw, citrumelo, yuzu lemon, Meyer lemon, Guava, sugar cane, jujube, Russian pomegranate Salavatski, grapes muscadine, orange, tangerine, blueberry, blackberry, flying dragon, loquat, passion fruits, maypop, banana, figs, honeyberry.

Wow!! Huge. Ok I am DEFINITELY getting mine into the ground in the spring. Now to just pick the best spot 🤔
👍😃
How many years does it take to produce fruits?
@@kimjohnson3910 they can fruit in 1-3 years
Although its named Salavatski and classified so by Soviets - it was brought to USSR from Afganistan where this particular variety grows naturally via natural selection

hi . what a good time to planting a cold hardy pomegranate in W Virginia zone 6 ?
I bought two from Ebay today .
If you plants have new growths I would wait until May when it start to warm up, this way you don’t loose them, I think weather 50-60 is good, that usually when mine break dormancy last May, unless we have warm spring this year.
thank you @@ItsJustGardening
I’m not sure if I missed it but did you mention what kind of soil it’s in and fertilizer or what it was done for care. Frost protection? Thank you!
These can goes down to zone 6 they are very cold hardy, check what zone you are in base on your zip code. I’m in zone 7. He used regular gardening soil and he don’t do much fertilizer.
How tall to bear fruit? I have one 6 ft but leafs fall
Mine start to put out flowers 3 years in ground, i have another tree that doesn't put out fruit at all for going 7 yr this yr.
Can I get seeds? I am looking for cold Hardy to zone 6 pomegranates
Send me an email with your address.
Me please
Mine are about the same color, I will leave them as long as possible maybe the color will change
Very cool, that’s what I thought too when I first these pomegranate but it never turned reddish as the one my friend got. I think it either get red in early stage or it doesn’t.
I have "Afganski"
What’s largest fruit size you got so far?
good to know about the color, maybe the arils will get sweeter even though the outside is pink. i think fruit doesnt freeze until below 28f so thats what i am going for. will probably harvest all on thanksgiving. the biggest fruit looks just under 4 inches still on the tree. the seeds are hard too like salavaski. i dont think soft seeded poms are for zone 7, but there are some that might be ok down to 5f. have to do some research @@ItsJustGardening
@@raregrowsNJI’m testing the giant pomegranate that they sell in Costco from seeds, so far it haven’t died back yet for 2 years, will see if it survived this winter
Where did u get this plant?
This a cloned of my tree, it was bought off eBay 7 years ago.
Hello. How can I get a clone of your pomegranate shipped to NY? Do you have any with roots in a pot?
I live in Winchester,VA. Just bought a 3 year old salavatsky. I’m planning to put it in ground. Will it survive. I believe my zone is 7A
It should survive, give it some protection in the first winter if you skeptical.
Can they grow in Minnesota?
You can check what zone your are in by googling your zip code.
Are you still selling clones of these ?
i have some email me if you interested.
How can I get a clone for NY?
I should have it posted on my Etsy shop in spring.
I thought they were dwarf. This looks very tall like a small tree
10-12 feet tall mature tree
urgh it has hard seed
Yea, that the case with cold hardy pomegranate
@@ItsJustGardening Off topic because I think you're Vietnamese. Vietnamese here. I'm in zone 8B. Can Longan grow in zone 8B? Where can I buy it??
Just get a hand press juicer, u put the kernals in and press to smash and seperate the juice. They do that in Thailand for fresh pomegranate juice and doesnt have seed in the drink. You can probably search on TH-cam to see the hand press
