With every other plugin company and Daw out there, I was never sold on anything Harrison related . However Lowering the price of your DAW and including all of your plugins in the SSL complete was An amazing consumer friendly move. I 1000% will begin and continue to support Harrison.
Lets all make the best music we can with the best tools that stands the test of time. Thanks for your support. If you need a guitar player on a song let me know :) -Nathan
I mean you can make great sounding tracks with pretty much any of tools on the market today...I've been rocking with Mixbus DAW since V5 as a final mixing tool when I want a certain sound that i feel that only comes from Harrison's console emulation. Plus I love the flow of a console so that helps too. It's definitely worth checking out, I still primarily use reaper and pro tools for tracking and editing and the heavy lifting but Mixbus is great for a finisher and imports super easy from PT. But this plugin gives you their awesome saturation and sound now to take into any DAW which is really rad, can get pretty close without having to switch DAWs and I know that's super important to some people so this was a great move on Harrison's part
Nice to be able to choose between the 3 types of compressors for that who matches better the material, including the emphasis knob. The drive may not suit everything, but I like it. Sounds good. Fast workflow for those of us who like channel strips 🤘⚡
@@HarrisonAudio thank you for thee kind reply. I’ve used it on several sized screens. Something about the look is very difficult for me to see. Luna, Logic, SSL 360 etc… no problem but I wanna use Mixbus!!! 🥹❤️🙏🏻
@@HarrisonAudio that was the reason I was asking about the difference between XT-EG and the integrated Gate/Expander, I prefer the whole UI where you can see all the aspects of the plugin.
@@HarrisonAudioI thought it was just me that has a bit of issue seeing the daw. And I use a 32 inch curve monitor. This plugin is very clear though. I still wish we could assign the daw channel strip to the UC1. That would be magical.
Anything can be done to get the sound you are going for. In a less dense mix you can allow for more low end to fill up the space when its just a vocal/guitar performance for example. -Nathan
their filters are a pretty wide smooth curve so it's not a brickwall cutoff but a mellow slope that I love. You may know this but it dips the low end for a few before it actually cuts so keep that in mind when using these filters compared to some other HPF and LPF's
I'm gonna give this a go. I really want the EQ and cut filters in a native plugin. The previous Harrison 32 plugin had a cramped high frequency response. If not for that I would have bought it. I'm hoping this is better, or has a high quality option 🙏
Any cramping is on the very top end and only golden ears can hear it. Maybe you fall in that camp. My ears are not that special. Many have used the EQ in the cramped state for years with no issues. Its only when someone brings it up that everyone can "suddenly" hear the difference. But regardless, the EQ whether cramped or decramped works for many different sources as was the use case for the original console and now the 32 Classic console. So many engineers rave about the new console and for a good reason. It just sounds good. -Nathan
There were so many Harrison consoles floating around back in the day that its hard to keep track of everyone who used one. I'm sure a few reggae bands came across the console from time to time. -Nathan
I can hear the joy jumping off the screen :) Some love it and some hate. Will never please everyone all the time. You can purchase the plugin separately. -Nathan
I am considering purchasing. The UI is simple and easy to use. How many days does the discount last? I tried the demo, but why is the screen size not fixed and reset every time I load? Is it because it's a demo? And there are no presets?
Hi Epstein, let us know which DAW you are using and we can check it out. Our plugins don't come with presets but its easy to make your own once you find some settings you like. -Nathan
HI Mirko, There are many factors when modeling an EQ and which part of the channel strip is included. Most want saturation that comes from a pre amp which was not included in the 32c Channel strip. Also keep in mind, the goal of any console back in the day was to be as clean as possible due to the medium it was recorded onto. The less noise on the front end resulted in better dynamics and clarity. The new 32Classic plugin is modeled after the 32 Classic console released last year. It also has a Jensen transformer that is modeled by the Drive section of the plugin. Give it a try and let us know what you think. We still get positive comments about how users love the sound of the original plugin. Hope that helps, Nathan
Mixbus is nice but the ui is not fully scalable despite my best effort to get it readable everything is tiny on my 4k monitor. Wish Mixbus looked like this plugin.
Nah, I am more interested to see how you would do it :). But seriously its all about making each instrument blend with another. Cut some bass here, boost some highs there...just basic mixing. -Nathan
I already own a licence for the 32C Channel plugin. Since 32С Channel seems to be discontinued, could i have my licence upgraded to 32Classic Channel plugin?
Due to many reasons the old plugin is no longer supported and has been replaced with the 32Classic plugin. The intro price is low enough for all to enjoy. -Nathan
@@HarrisonAudio So what's happening with the 32C plugin? It's not been updated for a couple of years, has been taken off the store. MPC Channel Strip is derived from a Digital console used to mix movies. The 32Classic is derived from the new console with a Jensen transformer and updated EQ circuit. It also includes a Gate and Comp derived from the MIxbus DAW. -Nathan
@@HarrisonAudio Thanks, Nathan! By the way, I also bought MixBus 10 Pro when it came out. You said the 32Classic channel strip has Gate and Comp derived from MixBus 10, but the Jensen transformer and EQ circus are NOT from 32Classic. Is that correct?
The drive in the DAW is more like the saturation on the MIxbus. Similar results. EQ in the DAW is more like the one from 1975. Not a huge difference. -Nathan
There is not. As you turn up the drive the signal will get slightly louder but it will also start clipping which will reduce the dynamic range. If you perceive the volume getting louder than you would like you can use the output knob to find your desired level. -Nathan
Sound should be similar. With more controls on the Comp section and an updated EQ algo to match the ranges of the new 32 Classic console you can find an extended number of sounds not possible with the old plugin. The drive section will add another flavor as well. -Nathan
I have downloaded the trial version and made comparisons with the good old 32c channel. Pros: lots of controls to tweak Looks good. Cons: the output VU meter is way TOO small and dull, hard to read the levels. The controls are weirdly dispatched on a (mackie control protocol) Daw control surface. The sound is different from the old model. You lose the « bump » with the filters, but you gain more parameters. And a gate. (Which I did not test). Final thoughts : Good for the intro price, but really different from old 32C channel. I will pass.
Thanks for your comments. The console didn't have a bump and that feature actually came from a 19" rack version of the preamp and EQ. It is a fun feature but not closely related to the original console or the new 32 Classic console. Its all just choices. -Nathan
