Original feels like she just broke up with someone. She's in the healing process, and has regrets about it. She's also reminiscing about the good memories.
Here it feels like she's moved on and is willing to love again. She got hurt but she learned from her mistakes. She ran into her ex but is able to just say hi and walk away rather than beg for him back. She's in a better place now.
You could also think of it as a midpoint between the original Sayonara Rolling Star and Lonely Rolling No more. If Lonely Rolling Star is about her trouble handling her lover's 'rolling' nature where they have trouble settling down and staying in one place, Sayonara Rolling Star is about a break over that issue, and Lonely Rolling No More is about them both compromising and getting back together into a happier relationship you could see this mix of Sayonara as sort of the point where she starts to feel as if maybe she should give him another chance, that if they just work together more they can both be happy together.
Playing it at 1.25 speed makes it sound like she's rolling a giant katamari up and crushing her ex in it.

When I heard this song I thought "huh, odd song to play while rolling things up in a Japanese supermarket" but I still loved it.
One of the best games on PS3, and probably the best soundtrack of any game from that era EASILY
Here's hoping it gets a remastered port soon with how well the ReRolls are doing.
okay, so little explanation is that the song "Lonely Rolling Star" was about lovers, and how her lover loved to roll around and wander away. but he was gone for much too long. so this song is about a breakup between them.
I love how the song lore & mean actually has a continue story. It's a nice little detail. I cant wait to play beautiful katamari

Welp, snagged it after the KD: ReRoll. Its a seriously weird game, not as fantastic as the original, but fun.

The supermarket level this song plays in is, what, the second level? And it's so good. If you aren't hooked by then, there's something wrong with your brain. Fun deficiency or something.
