Here it feels like she's moved on and is willing to love again. She got hurt but she learned from her mistakes. She ran into her ex but is able to just say hi and walk away rather than beg for him back. She's in a better place now.
You could also think of it as a midpoint between the original Sayonara Rolling Star and Lonely Rolling No more. If Lonely Rolling Star is about her trouble handling her lover's 'rolling' nature where they have trouble settling down and staying in one place, Sayonara Rolling Star is about a break over that issue, and Lonely Rolling No More is about them both compromising and getting back together into a happier relationship you could see this mix of Sayonara as sort of the point where she starts to feel as if maybe she should give him another chance, that if they just work together more they can both be happy together.
So many good (and not so good) memories of this excellent game. That hop feature really does make a difference when you go back to the older games.
