- Exploring the yard of E.A. Patson Parts and Equipment located in Anchorage Alaska which was in operation from 1954 until 2013. U-Haul is now the owner of this location.
This video explores the vast number of vehicles collected over the 59 year period as well as thousands of NOS (New Old Stock) parts for them which are (were) stored in antiquated buildings. Most of these vehicles and spare parts were purchased through GSA sales (Government Surplus Auctions) once held on Elmendorf AFB and Fort Richardson also known as JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson)
The "cobweb" shots are a précis of America, bringing tears to my ancient, jaded eyes.
Well done, my friend.
Holee cats ! I wonder where all of those wonderful parts are now...
wish i could get my hands on a place like that , i love them old trucks
WOW!, in my humble opinion, someone needs to start going thru all this stuff, separate the good from the bad, before it,s all useless. thanks for the video
Very picturesque and melancholy place! ! But there is so much recyclable material that gives you happiness! !
What a hodge podge. I could set up a camp in the middle of that and live forever! Where is this at? Thanks for sharing.
I drove by it dozens of times I never was in the store.
I did order parts from them many times. There were very helpful. When I drive to Anchorage I miss that land mark.
What happened to everything?
Did anyone save any of it.
It closed 10 years ago?
A lot of it went to waste but some of us got to save some of it also. I had been going there since I was a kid
I usually talked to a older guy Rod on phone to order parts.
No part numbers needed.
Glad you got to help save stuff.
I’m try figure what is it that location now? Shopping mall
U Haul
@@AlaskaTrucker oh ok thank you
Unreal - I hope that some of the NOS parts made it out of there before the entire yard was scrapped.
i love this place
its out there.. u just have to know where to look : ) . wish i could find a place like this

Yeah, but a lot of "good people" have no idea about what they're doing. I left a comment on another of your videos, and I wish that I had known; rather than retire, you and I could have worked together for a number of years after I bought into your business.
Time marches on...
wow need those pistons
I saw a 1941-46 Chevy pick-up in there. I just sold my 1941,... Big Mistake.
Wow
Металлолом у вас не принимают чтоли?
If I had the money I would buy everything their
5.7L Hemi same
WOW!! And I'll bet Elmar knew right where every thing was!!!!!! This was a great one!!
A fine line between Being a business or a museum that sells their collection of artifacts
"... to know the road ahead, ask someone coming back..."
ancient Chinese proverb
I think he has enough parts to rebuild every old military truck out there. Shame to see it go.
Damn,it's sad to see it's going to close.
What are they doing to do with the unsold parts ?
It's a real mine.
Midwest Military bought a lot of the parts, I bought all the Studebaker US6 and GMC CCKW stuff. Sadly a lot of the other stuff will go to the metal recyclers and land fill.I guess its called "progress"
The new vehicles last only few years and are only built to be replaced for business purpose.
The old things were made to be used.
It's progress for the rich guys in the corporations allowing them to have more money.
Not for the random users,it's just technological dependence or even addiction for them.
I hate plastic...
It doesn't even make cars lighter.

Over here (Belgium) all salvage yards are also closing due to lots of reasons parts are becoming obsolete
Another legendary salvage yard gone forever.
Elmer is in better shape than I am at twice the age. ( health issues on my end. ) but hes in better shape than many of us younger folk. and I must thank him for this collection. because without stashes and businesses like this, many of us would have a hard time keeping these vehicles running
At 8:20 I could make real use out of that M816.Those five ton wreckers are strong as hell, and the 14.0L Cummins is a solid engine.
Wow what a walk through history reminds me of growing up in Indiana seeing places like that the sights the smells what fun and finily the find!!! Looks like it was a good parts find
Recently i've had a look at Google maps, just to be sure, and the area is cleaned up. It's all gone for good ...
Where
that ain't right
I wish I were there so I could pick around for M37 stuff
There was a M43 Power Wagon Ambulance in this, right in front of the yellow Chevrolet. Those are more rare to find than a M37.
Wow veritable *gold mine of NOS parts. Lots of folks collect and restore military vehicles-trucks, tanks, artillery. Try Google military vehicle preservation associations, military vehicle show and swap meets, military memorabilia shows. All over America PNW Texas CT, MI, NV, NY, NJ, NC, PA, MA, VT. DE. OHIO. Talk to Military Vehicles Magazine they could give you a pointer or 2 I'm sure.*
the are a lot of tires!! many of they are of military trucks and jeeps
A friend's husband died and left an entire barn full of first generation mustangs and parts. I was blown away by it. This yard makes that look like a kids toybox.
wow reminds me of the canpoints in germany, saw many parts that i have replaced on many military vehicals.wish i could walk through that yard! saw a cummins 550 engine just sitting on the ground, what a waist of military epuiptment,so sad!
Yes what a waste. The caption says Uhaul now owns the land and you know they probably scrapped everything.
MY GOD! What a treasure! I guess it's all gone now.
WOW !! In the UK people would "die" to find a place like that (nothing would have been left to be scrapped) - we have 1, maybe 2 and do they take advantage - $5000 for an incomplete WWII Jeep, and as for parts, they are just about unobtainable.
You do have a bit more space to keep any thing - don't forget our country could fit into one of your states and you would still have room to spare...............
i need to get in touch these guys i want to buy!
Was that a Jeep at 4:32?
It sure was,it's a M151 Mutt.
I like the Jimmy at about 5:40.
