Dr. Tim Moore explains how a Norden Bombsight works during the 8th Air Force Historical Society Reunion visit to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, Georgia on October 29 2021.
I came here after Masters of the Air broadcasted. I really wanted to know how the bombsight worked. This is incredibly interesting and makes what those guys did even more impressive. The amount of calculating and precision that was needed just get close to the target, let alone hit it is crazy to me. Thank you for posting this.
I think somewhere I have a DVD of the actual USAAF instructional film that explained how to operate the Norden. Fascinating stuff, bombardiers had to know their stuff and their math too.
idk this mans rank but when he says, "do i need a mic or can yall hear me" was the start of every SajMaj in the Corps, if ya know, ya know.... and they would always say this as the CO set the mic down after talking into it for whatever he had to say

So basically they noted down all possible ways you can drop a bomb and where it will fall.
While the topic is interesting, the lousy audio is undermining it.
