Due to a health scare in 2017, we decided to start enjoying life more outside our business. We bought a Lodge on the east coast of England and started vlogging our daily adventures

We did the same with my mother in law’s clothes. They’re called memory bears. They’re a wonderful way to remember a loved one.
We lost our Westie last July. 😔 We were all so devastated that we had her ashes made into rings, a necklace and two resin hearts. The thing I love most is the pot in the garden with her ashes in where we have a plaque with her photo on and a mini Westie in. I talk to her every day. I know it's different as it's your Mum, but Evie was like my baby and it's still grief. Have you seen the seatbelt psychic on Tiktok? He is brilliant.

Hey Nick , I know how u feel when u had to go bk to your mums , as I struggle to see my grandad at his home , expecting to hear my nan shout “oh hi Em, fancy a cuppa, but she can’t . I’m here anytime u need to cry down the phone xx much love and huge hugs your way xx get a pillow from B&M that has mum on to hug when u feel low (I have a nan one to hug). I’m autistic xx
So sorry about your mum Nick. Your wall art thingy looks really great, especially with the lights behind it. Cauliflower instead of rice is a great idea. Sometimes I make spaghetti bolognaise but have the sauce over cauliflower instead of the pasta.
I am/was a mammas boy and know the things that pop into your head and no one can imagine what you are thinking about. I am in the USA Alabama to be exact and watched this episode wanting to hug you the whole time Nick. Much respect to Leigh for the support that is completely obvious. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit I am somewhat obsessed with your two. Mainly the love you clearly have for one another. Nick, your mother is clearly watching over you. Take some time every day and talk to her. I promise it helps! Please know that someone in another country is a fan as well as praying for you both!
Thank you for your kind comment. Nick thinks and talks about his mum everyday. She may not have been on the vlogs a lot but they talked often and just knowing she's no longer there to call and have a chat to is still breaking his heart 💔
@@TheLodgeGuys I sometimes hope that when I am at the parks in Florida that I will run in to you guys. I’m going October 14 through the 18th of 2023. I think that if I did see you two y’all would think I am a weirdo because I’d be talking your head off! I live 10 mins at most away from the Bucees you went to in Alabama. I watch and rewatch all of your posts. Please never stop posting! I am single, gay and live my life as you two clearly do as well! Rob here btw! So nice to hear from you! Still in my prayers! I lost my mom to COVID 2 years ago and lose my mind daily wanting to just hear her voice again! Stay safe and keep on keeping on!
Your vlogs often inspire me - to cook more, try DIY, go new places, but most recently to spend more time with parents.
It has been an honour to have had an insight into your journey with Gail and I am certain many viewers like myself will have realised we need to see parents more often as one day that option will be gone.
The moment where Nick got upset in the car was a lodge Guys moment I wont forget. Seeing all parts of your life the highs and lows teach us lessons - and Gails legacy to me is certainly to treasure time with parents.

You're handling everything so well, just when you think you're getting used to life with a loss, grief smacks you in face again. You have each other and are rich in love, you will be OK ❤️.
That air fryer is amazing, I'm now looking at my own in disgust 🙈. Also Leigh, I love those mindfulness cards, such a good idea with the stand. I will be on the hunt for some too 😬
I have to say, I’m with Leigh on the idea of living in the moment. The past is gone, and we don’t know if the future even exists for us, so we need to appreciate the present moment while it’s here, and realize that if the present moment isn’t so great, it will soon be in the past and gone. The new air fryer looks really nice - I wouldn’t mind having one if I had any room to put it in my kitchen!
Massive hugs to you both. I totally get you not wanting to share too much about your grief in your vlogs. Just know if you do show how difficult it is, like tonight, we are all here with you and understand those feelings and wish you nothing but love. Take care guys x
Nick I am so very sorry about your lovely Mum. I know exactly how you feel my friend - when my Mum passed I went back in to her home I felt like my heart had been wrenched out of my chest. All I can say Nick is that the ache and pain is very raw at the moment - But it will ease - we are all here for you - God bless you xx Your lovely Mum will show you she is ok 100%. Nick and leigh you are both doing so very well, losing a parent is so hard. Lost my mum 4th September last year and I'm still in bits, find myself wanting b to ring enr and then remembering I cannot. My mum was in a able living flat and they gave us 1 week to empty it which was just horrid, mum was a hoarder and in a way that helped as some of the stuff we found 👀🙈 . Your both incredible young men x
Absolutely love watching your vlogs. I lost my mum and dad a year apart from each other, it was devastating, but I have two items of clothing that I kept and hold them when I need a hug from mum and dad. You was and still are an amazing son and this will take time to sink in, be kind to your self, it takes time. Sending love to you both ❤ I loved Nicks excitement over the oven!!
Glad y'all are back in the lodge. My wife and I moved into my parent's home after my brother moved out; going on 5 months now. I recently found several of my dad's old Army unit crests and 24 years later I still miss him. Cherish those memories you have of your mom's house. All the best to you guys and we send all our love.
I had a day to digest your most recent vlog. It was so poignant at the stage of grief you two are experiencing. I know you hear it over and over, but the love and care you have shown to your mum was beyond beautiful Now, let her words and life lessons guide you through this journey of healing. On a lighter note, I giggled at Leigh drinking the bottles of wine. I’ve been there for many different reasons, and it definitely helps with the nerves. Hugs to you both!❤

Hold on both of you. You are doing amazing. It does get easier, but it takes time. You both are doing amazing. One day at a time, baby steps. You never get over it, just learn to live with it somehow. 10 yrs after loosing my hubby to the same terrible illness, things still catch me out unexpectedly, think they always will. It’s very early days for both of you. Take care both of you. You are in my thoughts.❤️❤️❤️❤️

I lost my wonderful mum 5 years ago on mother's day! 😢 It was horrendous and the biggest shock of my life. I miss her unbelievablely, she was my best friend. All the admin stuff you have to do after is so tough. I can remember ringing gas/elec/water/pensions etc in tears and having to say the words out loud to them that she'd passed and I couldn't believe I was saying them. I was fortunate that there was some kind and patient people on the other end. Sorting her house was also heart wrenching. Make sure you keep a few things that meant a lot to her or remind you of her x
I finally learned to put down a paper towel or several in the sink cupboard after working on the sink in case it leaks after my repairs. I don't replace all the bottles under the sink right away.
Lovely to see how you support each other through this next phase of your lives. Sending you both strength and patience to cope through the ups and downs x
Nick, buy a beautiful box and place some of your Mum's favorite things. It's so important after your grief lightens to be able to smell, see and remember her. I did that and it's one of my most precious items. When I pull it out during Christmas it's like she is here with me. The whole in your heart never goes away but you have to fill it with beautiful memories.
Yay to being back at the Lodge. May it bring calmness and serenity. Hugs and ♥️♥️♥️ always.

Been watching your older vlogs and you can tell a difference with your under eyes so it is working I think. Always thought I’d never do fillers but based on your outcome, I’m thinking about it!
Nick and Lee we are relatively new to your channel but In saying that we've binged on you for the past few months 😉 Nick I lost my Mum to pancreatic cancer 9 years ago, it still feels like yesterday, she was given 12 months but we lost her within a week, I'm not sure which is worse seeing someone you love die slowly infront of you or quickly like mum did. I just wanted you to know I feel your pain and am with you x
Don’t normally comment but alway like, so good to see you back. You certainly light up a lot of lives, you will get through these horrible times . Stay strong l know you can , you have each other and millions of friends 🫶🏼

I've got an air fryer similar to the new one. I've got it for our seasonal touring caravan. I've used it already and have made buns in it
That air fryer will be great for dehydrating things
I am sorry about your mom, Nick. It will take awhile to get past this. After my dad died when I was 19, I went into his bedroom and sat, thinking he was still here and with us. I missed him and wanted to go to him. It seemed the door to Heaven had just opened, and maybe I could go too, and be with him. It is part of grief that thankfully becomes less strong someday.
Leigh, at the end after your hello,s you sat in front of the tree picture on the wall and it looked like you stuck you finger in a light socket. Made me giggle. 😂
Nice to see you back at the lodge. The air fryer looks amazing, I hope you enjoy cooking in it. No matter how old you are, it’s so hard to lose a parent. Take one day at a time and one day at a time it will get a little easier. Grief does take some time to process but somehow you do move on but you never forget. So glad you have each other.
Please don't deny your grief, it's the worst pain possible but it does lessen with time and the great memories will fight the battle to return and win.
Meanwhile I have found this song really comforting as it speaks from the heart and fits our situation perfectly, Lily Meola, Butterfly. TH-cam or Spotify and it is absolutely beautiful.

I bet it feels good to be back at the lodge with the sadness of the last few weeks. With living in Halifax I try and guess where you visit i noticed Huddersfield of course. I have the same type shelving as you from IKEA,mine is like white deck bords. Sending lots of hugs ❤️

My dad always used to say when I was a kid, ‘I’m going to see a man about a dog’. I used to get really excited thinking we were getting a dog… never did…. He was on call with work and got a call out…. We’re from Surrey, so not just Yorkshire….😊

My heart ached for you when you mentioned going to your mums. I had all kinds of memories flooding my heart & mind. A thought is to have something of your mums with her perfume/scent on it. Seal it in a zippy bag. On days when you need it you'll have it. I have a few of such stored in a safe place. Sometimes it tears or a heart warmth memory.
Have the same airfryer just different brand. Basket is great for wings & Brussel sprouts with bacon/chorizo
Maybe put some foil or parchment paper on the bottom tray, of the airfryer... easier clean up.
Leigh, I'm exactly the same, can't just make something out of the fridge, but can follow a recipe perfectly. Be strong guys. We are all with you.

Oh I know this pain and my moms stuff. The smell yes! Doesn’t go away but it’s a rollercoaster and time does heal a bit. You’re in my thoughts guys keep supporting eachother ! Love to both . Come to Florida to see my home now lol

It does take time after one looses a parent to balance out ones life, especially after both your parents are gone. But you will go on, and hopefully, the good times become the bits your mind will return to again.
Sorry about the loss of your dear mum. Grief will come in waves over the next few months. Some will be little waves and then others will be tidal waves which will come out of nowhere and knock you for 6! My advice is let it happen and it will get easier. I lost my dad in the same way you lost your mum. Within 4 mths and the decline was so rapid. It’s awful to watch and there will be a time where the negative associations with places or things will pass and be replaced with warm happy emotions
Loss is so hard. Thanks for showing the good and bad. I lost my grandmother in may of last year. I still struggle with it. She was like my mom. You just feel like there is a hole in your heart that will be never be filled. 😢
Oh Nick & Leigh please if you need to cry on camera do it, the pain and sorrow of losing a parent is awful. We will all understand and all support you both. Sending you both the biggest of hugs take care look after one another, and if you need a bloody big hug I'll drive up from the midlands if need be to give you both a big Mandy hug, as my kids say Mom's hugs are the best. Aw nick! My heart really does go out to you. I hate that your having to go through this as I know first hand how awful it is and just walking back into your mums house hits you like a tone of bricks 💔 so brave that you are sharing your journey tho and love how you continue to try make these vlogs positive even when your not feeling that way. It did make me chuckle at the end of the vlog Leigh when you were reading out the Mindfulness cards 😃 I knew that would be something you’d love ..... sorry Nick that it’s not quite your thing but was funny when you were asking Leigh to explain the meaning of the quote haha! I use similar cards. Mine are oracle cards. Pick one a week and concentrate on that card all week!!
Nick the lodgers who have lost a parent or two will understand the emotions that your feeling. It took me a long time to go to my parents house after my mum passed and then only went a handful of times or if I had to go. Then when we lost my dad in 21 my wife had to sort the house as I found it too hard.
Hi Nick, we all totally understand that you will still be totally numb from the loss of your Mum Gail. That feeling will remain forever. You will pull through this. You have tremendous support from Leigh and both your immediate family & friends. Think of all the good times spent with your Mum. Great to hear that you are looking after your Mums boyfriend, respect for that. Stay positive. X

Aww 🥰 my heart goes out to you nick , it’s so sad to see your little face looking so sad , but it’s also nice to see that you are putting an enormous amount of effort in to your videos too . Leigh must be your saviour, because he is being so gentle with you , and you can clearly see that your are both being impacted . It’s difficult doing the practical stuff that’s required for mum but it’s essential and will make you feel better once it’s all ticked off .
Gayle’s partner will appreciate what you are both doing too .

we use are air frier round basket to cook chicken wings and there better than nando's give it a try.

You really have created beautiful spaces with your homes and to have sanctuary in times of pain is so helpful.
