I like a lot of those changes, the footstep one is massive. At times in the current game players feel to be able to sprint straight to you and you can barely hear it. That one is huge!!!

Someone running in boots on gravel is quieter than someone’s stomach rumbling at 10/15m or someone eating or loading a mag etc. The footsteps have been imbalanced forever, our own steps are crazy loud as our avatar runs but if someone runs one foot away from you the sound is very very different. On top of that to hear steps at all you have to have the sounds effects turned to max, making rain and wind noises too loud by far. I played dayz before I streamed, dayz is my favourite game of all time, my opinions are as a fan of the game just the same as yours. I don’t wish for features to help my stream, I want the game to be better and I care about it. My opinion on the game is valid the same as yours whatever it may be. You can hear someone eating or swapping to their gun two houses over in a town but not them running on floor boards.
@TheRunningManZ I use steel series GG software with a preset while playing dayz. It lowers the weather effects while boosting the footsteps. The preset i use is "escape from tarkov" but this is the one that works the best for dayz. I tried most of the presets.
Melee slots on backpacks now is huuuuuge. Everyone's going to have a favorite/preferred melee weapon to carry around. I've def been favoring the ice pick for my current run, it's just so handy for making knives out of rocks.
my only problem with it is now there is even less incentive to use ghillie suits, I've always felt like not being able to use a backpack with a ghillie was not worth it. I guess there will at least there will be less ghillie campers tho
@@mcgiggitygiggityThat’s a balancing mechanic. You really wouldn’t wear a backpack with a ghillie suit in real life either, it defeats the purpose of breaking your outline to conceal you. What I recommend is putting a ghillie in your inventory and dropping your backpack before/at the start of a fight to switch to it.
@@mcgiggitygiggityI think ghillie players need to just reconsider their approach to using one. You can fit plenty of space if you use an assault vest + buttpack but ghillie players just want a plate carrier. You just need to think about your approach differently.
Also helps with base building. Throw a shovel or pickaxe or hatchet in that slot and it saves a ton of space. Where as last patch a saw + hatchet + shovel + wire + nails + pliers + codelock + fence kit + sharpening stone took up essentially all your space and shoulder slots. Around 50 slots at minimum to carry all that stuff. With a backpack slot taking the shovel slot you reduce that by 10 slots at least.

If what you say is true, the sound guy is using his "mixing" skills to try to create an illusion that we are in a tree....rather than just mic'ing up himself extending the mic boom arm into the tree and recording whats actually there. I think its fine for a Halloween patch...since its spooky or whatever and its seasonal...but year round, its just annoying.
The vsd we have now is the modernized version. Not that it matters because the FNX is a modern pistol. But the wooden version of the svd is more accurate to the setting of dayz. They should just make the change to it and leave it be accessible across all locations. But what do we know, right?

Hear me out. I think it’s a good change specifically because of them reworking boats to take damage over time. Now players will have the ability to travel much easier and will be able to find boats. Also they did add things to the main island multiple times

The group I play with will just spend one weekend re-acquiring all the boats spawned, returning them back to our icecaps, and building a couple wooden crates for repair materials, and have a portable icecap garage. This will not be as useful as you're hoping, it just means it's a little more annoying for us hoarders - but it's not a prevention. We do the same with cars, just a barrel with gas / barrel with water / blowtorch / car parts etc.
If anything it will make it easier for our group to get the boats because now other hoarders will have theirs despawn from ocean / we can re-collect them over a few days of boating up the coast searching for the respawners to take back to our icecap garage
Well, this may come as a surprise but BI is a company that has to make money to support its efforts. One $40 map upgrade after a thousand hours or fun in cherna doesn’t seem terribly steep. Plus a lot of these are probably game wide features and fixes. It’s just that sakhal released in a pretty barren state. It is in need of filling out. We got bored pretty quick on it.

That's funny that sticks a break underneath you because I was playing Arma Reforge.. and that's exactly what you hear is sticks breaking even sometimes when you just walking a stick will crack super loud.
This all sounds really good but I’m still waiting for the infected overhaul they promised a while ago. The awful zombies is my main turnoff from playing the game rn
Awesome changes and additions. And tbh. Bohemia is working on dayz2, reforger and arma 4. So more devs are on those projects for sure. And I think they use all the new animations and stuff from here also in the new game. Would make sense.

That’s how it goes. “Drip feed updates” is not a thing, that’s just called updates, and they will update it consistently as they do with Livonia and Chernarus. It’s important to keep in mind that they are a small team.

I came to DayZ at the end of last year's update it feels so much different being apart of a new map and new updates it's really nice, like the devs really care about their game :)
Hope they fix the driving so we suddenly (despite driving on the road) don't find ourselves driving on the field crashing into a heyball, tree or a building... Especially on Chernarus! This on every main road that leads in to Novaya Petrovka and Topolniki.
the real problem with driving( yes Chernarus in particular) are the lag spikes that happen when you're approaching a location where there are a lot of infected to load in, that's what usually sends you into a pole, tree, haybale etc. They need to work on the impact that this rendering/ loading issue has on lag and fix it to enable driving to be safely performed. I've now adjusted my driving speed at certain locations which I know to be problematic, change down a gear and get ready to brake hard if the game tries to send you into a telephone pole or tree.

I love dayz but its actually crazy how long it takes them to fix/add the most simple things. the game has so much potential and yet the game makes miniscule changes over now the course of a decade. Dont get me wrong I have 3k hours on this game and I enjoyed it thoroughly but its still mind boggling how slow they are at working on it
I play a crap ton of reforger I feel like some of the sound fixes are exactly the same now in dayz as in reforger....a great thing if they are utilizing the assets to share
i like the changes, but i would like nutrition system to be changed in future, in a way, you would get stamina nerf when hungry, and also climbing uphill would sap stamina more than walking on flat terrain.
I think they should have a patch where your ears ring if you shoot your gun indoors or if someone shoots near you ears unless you have that certain military helmet on. That be cool.

You can now have a melee weapon or tool attached to your backpack, like axe, shovel and so on.

Fishing pole and metal pipe can no longer be slotted to shoulder anymore - will see if it's bag/tool slot only and if other melee/tools are impacted...

Alot of very welcome additions and changes on this patch. Melee weapon slots on bags is awesome since they nerfed carry slots.
Many community/modded servers have had those sorts of slots for ages and it is :P
island has a chem covered ship with lots of mil crates.. with some cool dead Marines hanging out of thier landing craft.

I love dayz but its actually crazy how long it takes them to fix/add the most simple things. the game has so much potential and yet the game makes miniscule changes over now the course of a decade. Dont get me wrong I have 3k hours on this game and I enjoyed it thoroughly but its still mind boggling how slow they are at working on it

I play a crap ton of reforger I feel like some of the sound fixes are exactly the same now in dayz as in reforger....a great thing if they are utilizing the assets to share

The leaves falling off the tree when you shoot through it was already in the game maybe they just made it happen more consistently?
i like the changes, but i would like nutrition system to be changed in future, in a way, you would get stamina nerf when hungry, and also climbing uphill would sap stamina more than walking on flat terrain.

I think they should have a patch where your ears ring if you shoot your gun indoors or if someone shoots near you ears unless you have that certain military helmet on. That be cool.
