You had me worried for a second thinking you were going to attempt the peak in winter..! Congrats on the hike though.. it really is such a beautiful mountain to climb. Wish you many more happy adventures.. g
Great video guys, what month was the expedition? And you said you didn’t go to the peak because you didn’t have the equipment needed? May I ask what equipment would I need in order to go to the peak? I’m thinking of climbing olympos as my first ever mountain! Is it a good idea?
Hey thanks We went up in April, and we were incredibly lucky with the weather. We had professional crampons, but we lacked rope, harnesses, helmets and ice axes. Well, while I'm really happy that we made it to the base of the tallest peak, I am a bit sad that we couldn't go to the tippy top. That's a trip for another time. If it was summer, as long as you had a helmet and proper footwear, I'd say climb it, but with the ice and snow, you should make sure you get the right gear. Talk with Monika at the store, 55 peaks, in Litochoro, she helped us tremendously. Happy Ventures Shane
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing! Sure not many people do this mountain in winter!
Thanks for the great video Shane! Is there any way you could share the gpx of your ascent? Very interested to see the route you took!
