We need a bunch of DH clones all over the world producing this kind of high quality content combined with great narration. I’ve been watching railroad-themed videos for 35 years and they don’t get any better than this. Thanks Danny. Live long and prosper.
Zephyrhills Holdout is fitted with LEDs, that's why they are SO much brighter. Florida East Coast Railway has them as well as the CFRC. The SFRC has only one to two CPs with LEDs. BEAUTIFUL video!!!
It also looks like it's aimed a bit differently so Danny was standing more in its line of sight. There's an NS signal here on the Beltline trail (so legal to go up to it) that's still lit, and you can see just how tightly aimed it is into the curve of the track at its location. This signal looks similar.
I thought they took the switch out from the house track in Dade City. I gotta check out that lighting there soon. That is the longest that I have ever seen the Tampa street runner. The last couple times that I tried to film it I struck out. You got a great shot of it!
This is like when Luke Towan commented on one of Marklin of Sweden's videos! (They are model railroading guys). It makes me strangely happy to see that Jaw Tooth is a Danny Harmon fan, and no doubt vice versa.
I don't think it's even capable of storing cars anymore, the track is literally buried to an extent where it seems impossible, especially on the area nearest to the lot. It's only been recent that I've noticed the rail has been poking out more.
@@ntekniklaus3710 You can see the tops of the rails. And as long as they are in gauge, they're fine. Not every track needs to be pristine and shiny to hold cars or carry traffic. From the Maps Street view, the electric switch is there in 2016, but gone in 2019. The satellite view you can see the switch timbers but the rail is gone.
Wow, that's a lot of light! I've been looking for places around my area to shoot at night, but there's nothing like this. It sure opens up a new perspective! Your "just a very loud shadow in the moonlight comment" resonates with me, because the majority of the trains here run under the cover of a dark sky. Also, loved the street running shots in Tampa, was wondering when you were going there again as I recall that location from your older videos. Still plenty of street running in Pennsylvania if you ever visit!
Great video Danny! I was gonna note South Florida and Orlando have decent commuter station lighting, as well as several of the coastal towns on the FEC that can afford night videography. It was great that you got 295, I've been bonked by that train several times.
Thanks for sharing. I´m new to your channel, but I like watching your stuff and listenig to your comments much more than solely seeing trains moving from left to right and right to left. Dan it was great hanging out with you that day, hanging out with you and the others and playing with the HO layout was an absolute blast, and will definitely be a day for the books. To see Mr. Hibbard again on this footage just gets me, and may he rest in peace. I now volunteer here whenever I can to run the layouts, and hopefully I'm able to do the job as good as he did.

Nothing better than a Sunday morning cup of coffee & a new video from Distant Signal Production. Great video Danny! I am surprised that 6553 wasn't operating it's ditch lights while running down Polk street. Maybe so as not to blind car traffic? I did notice the remote control strobes flashing. Looking forward to the next production.👍
It's always a great thing when a city and a museum understand how fun railfanning is when you have good ambient lightning at night, which is rare unless you are in a city that's well lit.
At 5:57 : I have seen both those locomotives running the line by where I live. Locomotive 2014 had derailed its back truck not more than 5 months previosly. Luckily no one was injured. Y295 (the street runner) is what 2014 had been running. Your videos are amazing, can't wait to see more!
In my opinion this is the best content and best produced rail fan channel on TH-cam, i look forward to watching it. I just wish that we had good spots up here in south east Wisconsin.
Enjoy your video's especially when in Tampa and Dade City areas. I lived and worked in Dade City for several years. Originally worked in San Antonio for the Orange Belt tourist line as their locomotive mechanic. It was while there that I met the owner of ex Reader RR #11 that was operating there. When that operation decided to move to different location he decided not to. Moved locomotive and several cars to Tampa for storage till suitable location to operate. He hired me as his mechanic. All this to comment on street night running in Tampa. He contracted out equipment to be used in a movie so had to run from storage track to Tampa Union. We had locomotive fired up and local crew let us do the pulling of cars. If memory serves me right, this was late 70's, there were somewhere between 30-50 mostly empty boxes. I was firing and #11 did beautifully. Barking her loudest & prancing down middle of street right as bars were letting out. Glance up and saw curtains opening in hotels. Can only imagine what was going through their minds. Was quiet an experience. As a side note after filming on line that ran to Brooksville our Seaboard pilot crew wanted to beat Amtrak into Union station so we hit 50 MPH on our return. Both injectors going to keep water in boiler and needle pegged right at pop off pressure. Yes, we beat 'em.
I have always enjoyed your rail fanning videos Danny. Top notch production with great narrative. I am a novice rail fan and have learned from your videos. You are the best !! Thank you sir.

Night rail photography has always had a special place in my heart. Perhaps it's because that's the only time I could photograph Southern Railway's "Southern Crescent" as it stopped in Salisbury and Greensboro, NC around 1:00am. I have daytime shots of the E8s at Ivy City and at the station in Atlanta, but night shots always seem to have a special magic. Great video.

Good to finally see another video! I noticed the conductor takes his time airing up the train. I remember doing the same thing when I was working for a short line here in PA. Open that anglecock too fast, and you'd be sitting until the whole train pumped up again. I truly enjoy those rebuilt Dash 3 cabs. They look much more modern and fresh, probably because it's new and different. Hard to believe how long standard cabs have been around.
Awesome video Danny!! i've always wanted to catch some street running. Brainerd, Minnesota had street running through town down to an intermodal terminal but, about a decade ago...it ceased operation and the tracks are still in place. I also noticed on this video that you have your railway lantern out there and lit, that looks awesome.. I just got one too and lit it up tonight. Keep those awesome videos coming :) take care...greetings from the Canadian east coast.

I’m an alum from Univ. of Tampa and I always say the local pull out onto the spur when my night classes ended. I used to wait for it at the lift bridge and then follow it to Kennedy Blvd. good times; great video!
Danny, I enjoyed your comment on the house track, a long lost railroad detail. The house track at our MKT depot in my home town was behind the depot and used to unload a boxcar of LCL freight for storage in the warehouse portion of the depot. The agent would call the farmer nearby and let him know his tractor clutch had just arrived. A small dock area made it easier to back a truck up to offload any freight into the consignee's vehicle. This generation of railfan missed all the best things that made life around a depot interesting.....train orders, dispatcher's phone, banging out a switch list or bill of lading on a typewriter....and that depot stove. Thanks Danny!
Always like your videos. My mom lives in the Villages and I usually bike from her house to Wildwood when I visit, but this year with the Corona dumpster fire, it hasn't been possible. Hope to make it to Florida again and railfan these sites!

Seeing that street running in Tampa is on my bucket list.
As always, Danny, high quality video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Danny for another excellent video. Very interesting and educational.
Great stuff!! I really like to see the former cryo cars, just think they are unique and neat!! Have to have French fries after all!!!
Love those night shots, Danny.
That was a fun watch. Thank you Danny🚂👍
Thoroughly enjoyed the night shoot and the run through downtown Tampa. Thank you for putting this together.
As usual, your informative narration and high production values set your videos apart. Thanks for another one.
Amazing knowledge of train routes and numbers.
Always like your videos. My mom lives in the Villages and I usually bike from her house to Wildwood when I visit, but this year with the Corona dumpster fire, it hasn't been possible. Hope to make it to Florida again and railfan these sites!
As a new member of your channel this is my first comment, I enjoy your work, you are the most professional of any train videos. Well done! Old retired RR man and miss it. Live in south Florida.
Thanks Rodney and welcome to the channel. I love hearing from retired railroaders. Always nice to hear about railroading from the old days.
@@distantsignal I worked for the CMSTP&P RR in Iowa, was a roundhouse worker in Ottumwa. Live in Boca Raton right next to CSX-TriRail track. I'm also a Vietnam Vet.
Super valuable videos. Going through training and it’s so good to get a visual vs having just words in a rulebook
