It's been almost 20 yrs since I've watched pro wrestling. If they had honored Bret's deal, the dream matches would have been epic. As he transitioned behind the scenes, the knowledge & expertise he could have brought to the current era could have been incredible. wwe land probably wouldn't the void of a wasteland with horrible storylines & misused talent that it has been for decades

I think Bret would have really excelled at the office job on the back end of the contract. His matches were always so good. He told great stories. The ladder match was such a wonderful creation. I think he would have been really good in that position and I think he would have enjoyed it as well.

Bret actually made it look like a real fight. He sold the opponent's moves and acted hurt. He also knew how to pace the match. A good wrestling match should have periods where the action slows down as the wrestlers get more tired and "more hurt". I put that in quotation marks because they aren't really hurt, but they are supposed to be acting hurt. Wrestling today has wrestlers getting kicked right in the face and then they get up immediately, run to the top turnbuckle, and then do a scissors kick while in mid-air. Do I admire their athleticism and acrobatic skills? Yes. But that stuff belongs in Cirque du Soleil, not professional wrestling that is supposed to be simulating a real fight.
