My name is Jakob and I'm a piano student in Reykjavík, Iceland. I've been playing piano for around 3 years and 3 months now, I started off learning by myself for around 8 or 9 months, then I went to learn with a Japanese piano teacher for a bit while i was staying the but when i came back to Iceland I started studying here as well. I'm a 15 year old and I've been playing piano since i was 5. I am going to give my grade 8 piano exam soon . I really loved the emotions you portrayed while you were playing this piece. Ive been trying to improve on my body and finger movements since my teacher says that I look too stiff. Seeing your performance motivates me to push myself harder and feel the music in my soul.

you’re honestly such an inspiration. I took maybe 3-4 piano lessons when i was also around 7-8 years old and gave up and never took lessons since. I’m 18 now and I recently started playing piano for the past 4-5 months ish and have been loving it but lately the past couple weeks off for summer (no lessons) i’ve lost motivation. But seeing you play and you’re progress has inspired me so much, thank you for the videos you post. Keep up the amazing work:)

my name is jakob lol, but this is my music school :)
I've been playing piano for almost the same amount of time as you (since 19 January, 2019). I'm certainly not on your level, because I am not a music student. My current big goal is to play Chopin's Ballade No. 1, which could take 2 or 3 more years (again, because I only practice maybe 5 hours a week). My question is, what would you recommend for progression on to difficult pieces like this? I have played a Mazurka and the Marche Funebre (another of my favourite pieces), and have been working through Bach inventions. What should I aim for next, before tackling a Ballade? Anyway, well done on your progress: I love your dedication and passion.
the ballade is way more difficult then it looks so wait a bit for it. but im sorry to tell you this but the only secret to getting better is practicing. i practice up to 10 hrs per day. bjt my favorite way to learn faster is playing chopin. i feel like i can learn so much from him :)

May I ask, how long have you been doing piano seriously? I’m 14 and started when I was 7, but never learned how to read and it was very inconsistent- your progress is really inspiring!
just be patient and practice allot, i started teching my self to read probably less then 3 years ago and now ive gotten quite good at it. probably to the same level or even higher the some of the people my age :)
youve been playing for far longer than 3 years. Youre being intentionally deceptive by implying that learning to read music is the same as learning to play music. Deception is a mark of character and not a good one.
