Gotta float a building there for highground vision, ideally above the turrets so they couldn't be targeted.
I'd actually consider making a sort of backwards bunker in place of the turrets to defend the nat. It's 300mins, but it's much more solid.
Turrets are a deterant, but they will rarely stop of dedicated attack. Best to have units, maybe a valk or two.
He could have it 30 more marines at the cost he spent on all those turrets haha
I'm always a little stunned by how stupid Artosis is when I watch some of these clips. Artosis repeatedly screams that he can't get SCVs and Marines behind the mineral line to repair and defend the Turrets. THEN DON'T BUILD THEM THERE IDIOT. Turrets massively outrange Mutas 7 to 3. Artosis only needs a pack of 3-4 Turrets built in a line or square near his Command Center with a pack of Marines in place to defend them if necessary. The Turrets will easily be able to provide cover behind the mineral line given their huge attack range. He'll have to move his harvesting SCVs off of the mineral line when the Mutas first show up and start taking Turret fire but all he has to do is wait for them to be driven off by the Turrets and then he can move his workers back onto the mineral line. It's pretty obvious really.
This Arthritis never learns. Better for us. Lmao
it's difficult to believe that after 23 literal years of playing this game he never makes valkyries to counter mutas like wtf
the mutas came long before he had a starport
@@A_Very_Hairy_Canary Then do another build perhaps?
You are new to BW arnt ya? Making valkiries would delay vessel production and Even tank production .. oh and You would have dead supply in units who won't be contributing (unless used to kill scourge/overlords) past the 8 mins..
Arty is just not a good defender .. turrets+ marines should be enough..
@@visbaluz First off, your original argument was that the starport was later than the mutas, which was what I answered. Please dont "move the goal post".
Second off all, the build Flash did in ASL10 and somewhat popularized doesnt count? You do realise that valkyries first of all negate the need for early vessels, right? Obviously if you don´t switch to vessels later on, if needed, you will have dead supply. But I´m sure you took that in to account.
@@Ole16DK no, i said that the starport was later than the mutas
"Wääää my 300 minerals worth of turrets don't stop 1400 minerals and 900 gas". He is truly dellusional.
How dare his opponent do damage with an army value triple than his? Literally unplayable.
enemy mutalisk at start: 6. 600 minerals and 600 gas
5 turrets, 10 marines, and 3 medics: 1,025 minerals and 75 gas.
Mutalisk definitely more expensive, but triple? not even double.
@@connorbroderick7148 Do you even know the value of gas compared to minerals?
Here, I will help: you start with 9 patches of mineral and 2 patches of gas. Your natural have 8 patches of mineral and 1 patch of gas
Your harvest rate per patch of all of them are the same 8 mineral or gas per patch.
@@ohlookitisacat7404 of course I know gas is more valuable. But not that much more valuable. If you are trying to say minerals are only worth 2/9 of gas, that is incorrect to the meta of the game. 100 gas does not equal 450 minerals.
I'm no pro but I would put it at about 100 gas equals 225 minerals.
@@connorbroderick7148 The value of gas depends on which stage of the game we are talking about.
If the strongest unit at that stage of the game have a 1:1 mineral and gas value, then 2/9 is pretty much the value of gas.
He should have had his marines over their to start with. Right by the mineral line

Arty is a gentleman tho. He responds to gnikodens cheers despite being in rage
Yes, being a gentleman is defined by your response to people paying you and not how you treat people who have nothing to offer you.

''Artosis Law of TvZ : ''In a TvZ you need EXACTLY (150-I.Q. points of Zerg opponent) number of turrets JUST in your natural to survive.''
Lol not gonna lie, those Mutas do seem rather ridiculous and hard to deal with.
You need 2x3 on your natural and 3x3 on your main (two groups in minerals and one near barracks).

GOLD
You can still float a building for vision and to block the mutas from being able to right click the turrets right?
just making sure that Artosis hasn't learned anything since 2005
It's almost like static defense is meant to assist your units in defending and isn't supposed to do the job on its own!
Where does it hurt?
Nunca he entendido por que no colocan bunkeres
I play Sc2, and mutas are more manageable. How are they countered in Brood war? Turrets don't seem to work, as shown in this clip
usually either more turrets or having marines and scv´s in place to repair. the problem is, in Brood war there are maps that just dont offer enough space to counter this. as you have seen, he couldnt fit enough turrets, and also he couldnt reinforce with marines properly and his scv´s cant repair
@@fenrirjk6496 Couldn't fit? There's a lot of unused space.
Past the mid-game, they're easy to counter: Science Vessels or Valkyries. The mid-game is a struggle of Sim City, turrets, Marine/Medic, and lottttts of micro.
@@fenrirjk6496 can't you also use bunkers behind the mineral line of the natural? It's been awhile since i played terran so I'm not sure
You need to use stim micro to abuse marines range usually. Artosis just got no micro at all lol
Men!, that muts appear to be hack!
valkyries?
Avilotosis
This is the only thing i'd buff at Terran if i was patching the game.
The turret is weak.
Arbiters fly by it, mutas don't care, shuttles fly by.
Make it more expensive and make it hit harder.
Lol the funny thing is with all that gas he could have had two valks XD
Fuck turrets, unconventional one or tow bunkers per mineral line.
I think he could have gotten like 6 less marines and spent it on 4 more turrets

Hi, Saltosis
I wonder if a bunker with the academy range upgrade for marines would work better? Turrets are just so pathetic vs mutts. I know a bunker with marines uses supply but….maybe?
Does he know that turrets without marines don't work?
why does he expect turrets to do anything to muta? doesn't supreme artosis logic dictate that the number of clicks something takes should dictate power? and it takes a fuckton less clicks to build turrets than to micro muta
Hahahahahahahahaha im dying
Make some Goliath
what a sad man child
what if he uses goliaths or wraiths to retaliate mutas though...
i can see this ineffectiveness many times, no offense
He didnt even have a factory or starport at this point
That would be even worse than the turret line. I was going to write a full explanation but I don't think it is needed (just let me know if you want me to go over any of this in more detail).
In summary, the issue is that both Goliaths and Wraiths, compared to turrets, are farther up the tech tree, cost more minerals (and cost gas), have less HP, deal explosive damage (just like the turrets, meaning 50% damage to mutas), have less range (not counting the goliath upgrade which takes a while to research), and fire slower.
The one unit designed to counter mutas is the Valkyrie, and it is very effective. The only issue is that it is even farther up the tech tree and is more expensive than the Goliath and Wraith. At a high muta count you will need several of them, otherwise the mutas can just overwhelm them like they do against turrets.
beauuuuuuuuuutiful video ... XD
He has a point tbh.
Boohoo. I'm too stupid to win.
A lotta factors here.
The turrets are going to be in a weird spot, and that's unfortunate and top of this, the Mutas don't even take full damage from Turrets due to unit size category, they're considered small, so only take 50% from turret missiles.
This causes the Terran player to spam more turrets to equalize but at the expense of pathing real estate.
Bunkers+Marines may seem like a better AA option but the DPS isn't enough to kill a swarm of Mutas.
Another annoying bit about fighting mutas is the bounce, which only has a -1 penalty per bounce. Unupgraded, that's still 8 to 7 damage which is pain.
The bounce is a third of the original damage.
The real big brain thing about mutas is stacking, which causes the AI to target different mutas and "preserve" the whole.
Thing is though, the best way to counter mutslisks isn't to actually spam turrets; it's to force those mutas back towards your marines moving out to hit his natural/third.
Artosis' builds and timings are really just not conducive to this, and he's always often stuck on 2base forever because he's not aggressive enough since he wants to be extra safe.
the bounce is 3 and 1 regardless of upgrades, bigger problem is stacked mutas deal whole dmg at once to 1 target so muta ball can kill turret in 2 shots when 1 turret need 12 shots to kill 1 muta
@@model84 indeed.
Since mutes rarely die, and they're actually kinda tanky ( and stack like crazy with the muta stacking), it's incredibly hard to "reduce" their effective damage unless the AI targets the lower hp ones....
Which is pure luck tbh.
Add that to their low attack speed being circumvented by their high movespeed ( so they kite in and out of range and reduce the amount of damage they take ) and they're way painful to deal with until vessels come out or they're forced into positions where they can't abuse high ground cliffs for cover.
Maybe try 1 bunker instead of 3 useless turrets
and 2 valkyries, just because
He didnt even have a factory. How is he supposed to get valkyries? Lmao
No GG? No unpause?
That game was always broken with stack mutas. They were not even intended during development and is a complete unbalance of the game. Specially for Terran
How you deal with this?
usually either more turrets or having marines and scv´s in place to repair. the problem is, in Brood war there are maps that just dont offer enough space to counter this. as you have seen, he couldnt fit enough turrets, and also he couldnt reinforce with marines properly and his scv´s cant repair
Probably shouldn't have sent his whole army out to counter when getting wrecked by mutas. I get the idea, but that seemed yo be the turning point. He was holding fairly well until he had his whole army walking across the map doing nothing.
You make tank
@@joaopadua7134 flash would've made them
What about flying a building to cover the turrets
To be fair, fuck mutas, and fuck the fact that it takes fifty years to get sci vessels and valks while zerg can get mutas in like half a millisecond
You mad bruh?
