    0:48 I thought EX-Citi Rail locomotives couldn't lead, because they are leased locomotives! but idk if I have been lied to or not

    • @TracksideTyson
      @TracksideTyson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These CITIRAIL units were purchased by CN so they lead all the time now, won’t be long till their all painted in red and black.

    How did you access that location. It looks like there is a winding dirt path off Cornwall road just south of Ashcroft ? Last time we were out that way we tried to find a road to Coho, but had no luck

    Amazing area, but where in BC is it? (You need a wind sock or whatever it's called. Too much wind noise.)

  • @Maverick_31

    I’m curious to what that flashing “T” means on that signal at the beginning. Normally that aspect would be a restricting signal without the flashing T. I’m assuming it means there’s a train coming the other way and modifies the signal into a Stop indication.

    What are the cars with the white structures in the first video used for?

    • @recklessbehaviour01
      @recklessbehaviour01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are talking about the black cars with the white tops, they are used for hauling ore. There is a very large copper mine (Highland Valley Copper) close to where this video was shot. There is probably 20+ cars like this loaded every day in Ashcroft.

    Any idea what the axle count was on that first train? I’m guessing it was well over a 1000! As always, the rugged scenery is stunning as well as the lengths and slow speeds of these monsters…

    • @thompsonriverrailfan
      @thompsonriverrailfan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say maybe about 700 at the most, I’ve never heard of a manifest train that has 100 axles with only three units for power

    • @robruitenbeek4063
      @robruitenbeek4063 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the second one is longer, so fascinating to see.

    • @thompsonriverrailfan
      @thompsonriverrailfan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robruitenbeek4063 yes the potash trains are usually much longer than most trains

    • @TracksideTyson
      @TracksideTyson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bruce Burgoyne This train was 642 axles and I have most the train details below in the description with a time line. Thanks for watching!

    • @TrainGuy33
      @TrainGuy33 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thompsonriverrailfan Potash on CN usually runs around 9k feet due to their weight, not uncommon though to see them break 10k feet. They’re easily near the top of the list of heaviest trains we run.
      Plus I have seen a train go over 1000 axles only once in my career (send a 11k foot train of only 30ft sand cars). Lots have gotten close though.
