In 5th grade, same time period I had all monochrome outfits too. One shoulder tops or spagetti straps from Limited Too, same colored shorts, then bandanas and colored sunglasses with everything. Also AIM was life. Always had to have the best emo quotes in my away message.
Your podcasts have just become part of my morning routine! (I've only just started listening so I've got plenty of back logs to listen to!) It's like Coffee ☕ + Evan & Katelyn 🔨 in the morning, how to "make" your day! 😂
I'm really enjoying your podcasts. I'm manipulating point clouds 40 hours a week, and your podcast really helps the time pass. The only problem I have is resisting the binge. You guys are amazing at everything you do no matter what type of content you put out. Thank you for the entertainment and inspiration.
They said the middle of 7th grade was worst time to move... I moved halfway through my senior year of high school. That was the worst move. My move in middle school was a breeze compared to that.
Ouch. I moved from Texas to Alaska for my senior year, but I considered it a great adventure. Most of my friends were already in college, so it was time to try something new. Can’t imagine going through that at the mid point or yea, though-rough!
I have way too many childhood memories to even pick a few that are representative of my childhood. Like from 3-9 I can cite maybe thousand of things that I remember so vividly. Learning to ride my bike, playing red rover and mother may I, being afraid to jump in the deep end of the pool. I need to write all this down.
It's interesting how both of you had moved place to place a lot and have close attachments to your families. The explanation you have makes perfect sense. I would be an example of the complete opposite; I've lived in NJ my entire life in the same house. I even commuted to school so college wasn't really a fresh start. I don't have the best relationship with my family and it was quite apparent when I had a week long trip to Virginia recently and all I could think was how nice it would be to get away and live there away from family. Or maybe I just don't like New Jersey?
That's interesting. Yeah we know some people that grew up in the same place and are close with families, and some where it's the opposite. So I guess there are a lot of factors involved
Haha! There's a Canadian podcast I listen to called Grownups Read Things They Wrote As Kids, where they tour different cities and have people do live readings of the stuff they wrote when they were young - diaries, school writing, letters, poetry, etc. - a lot of it is very funny but some of it is really quite meaningful and heartfelt. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
Everything Evan says makes so much sense to me and I recognize the confused look on Katelyn's face lol, you two should ask each other if when you think in your head if you have an inner monologue or not that voices your thoughts, some do and some don't and I'd be curious to know if I guess right
You should totally make a shirt saying: “words are hard”. It should be like, mirrored, or like backwards or something to probably express that... WORDS ARE HARD!
Signing the year book for my friends my senior year was my most embarrassing moment. There was a surprise full page picture of me sound asleep in class, with a sombrero on my head and a jug of wine under my arm (staged for the photograph from the drama department). They took the picture, put everything away and quietly left when the class ended. I woke up in the next class, was super embarrassed, was late to the next class, and had no idea about what had just happened. Many months later, a hot babe walked up and asked me to sign her year book. I thought "Wow, I did not think she even knew my name." Then I saw the picture and she laughed at me. I could not figure it out until someone told me.
@@EvanandKatelynPodcast I was not there when they took the picture. I can tell by the smile on my face, I was probably with my girlfriend parked in a romantic spot making out -- a dreamy date. And I suspect they may be lying -- especially the guy who says he put the sombrero on my head. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MEMORY TO BE A CHERISHED MEMORY. What if it was an alien who looks like me -- my alien double. What about that? Has anyone thought about that? I found the "jug" among the drama department props and I smelled the contents. It smelled like paint thinner. I know I would never drink paint thinner. It must have been somebody else.
37:12 Can attest to this. As a for most of my childhood/young adult years I was the outcast, and being socialized now has been challenging. as an example, 2 or 3 years ago I was so shy and nervous that I couldn't post a youtube comment.
hey i grew up in Dubai too! about the heat... there was this rumor that the officials would say 49 C even if the actual temperature was 52 or 53 C.... but yeah you can't live there without an AC...
Uggg, the entire time you were talking about moving I was thinking about geography and migration and all the times I have moved. Anyone any tips on not thinking about school when you just want to enjoy a podcast
Ok that was soooo adorkable! I feel like I just eavesdropped on a second date...you may have just created a new maker form of ASMR. Here's to being reinvented 👽
I had the opposite experience growing up! I moved to a few different places, but all within the same school district. Consequently, I have friends that are more like brothers to me than my own brother! I think I could have used the opportunity to move and reinvent myself, though, as my teenage years were very awkward, and I never felt confident enough to change "suddenly." I didn't really get that opportunity until I started working. Surprisingly, I found that I enjoy public speaking now, which if you had told sub-18 year-old me that, he would have rudely laughed in your face! There is a game called Emily Is Away that will make you relive your childhoods! I'm not sure if I would recommend it for the streaming channel, but if you have a chance to play games that aren't on the gaming channel, give it a go! It has a sequel, but definitely don't play that one until you've played through the first one. The first one is free on Steam, and the second one is $4.99, and both provide experiences that are...well, they felt familiar to me, and not necessarily in a good way, ha ha! Congratulations on another sponsored podcast video! It's very cool that you're landing those on (one of) the not-quite-main-channel!
I do admit I've definitely had moments of wondering what that type of childhood would have been like! We'll definitely look into the Emily is Away game, sounds like we'd need to prepare ourselves for some feels. And thank you about the sponsor! It's very exciting to have a podcast sponsor! 😁😁
K-pop Idols and actors/actresses dress up for the photographers/fans when they go to or leave the airport. Here's a funny little bit of information I learned about a couple years ago. And this just makes the term "fanny pack" very strange to me now. We were learning about different phrases meaning different things at work based on where the employee lives. It's a global company so sometimes a phrase we have in the US means something completely different in the UK, and vice versa. One of the examples that someone brought up was "fanny". Here in the US it refers to a "bum", but in the UK it refers to womens genitals, and is considered a very rude term. So knowing that, calling it a fanny pack in the UK makes is sound more like a "prison wallet". 😂😂😂
