Wonderful, uplifting in this awful time of covid and post-covid. She is lovely, elegant, delicate and technically perfect, but Marc Moreau has blown me away, never thought anyone could be better than Sergei Polunin, but this dancer has not only beautiful technique and timing but conveys almost heartbreaking emotion in a way I have never seen before.
Interesting contrasting costumes here (I was distracted watching her skirt fold and reveal a flash of red) but I much prefer the muted costumes of the Royal Ballet. They bring the partners together and they don't distract from the lyricism. But then, seeing Marcelino Sambe make Francesca Hayward appear so light that she really seems to fly, it isn't just the costumes that affect the performance. This was attractive but something was missing for me.
