Laye to the party here. The tails are docked on working bull horses. Only a section is removed that grows the longer hairs. Long tails and bull horns are not a good combination.
+Birgit Schenk The tail is the normal length of the tail bone, they just cut the hair. It prevents the spear from becoming tangled in it. These horses are bred to have shorter highly muscled necks. Even when he drops the reins the horse doesnt really stretch out so much. The down side of having such a thick neck is that they aren't really all that flexible. I found this extremely soft riding, very soft contact with many moments where i could see slack in the reins. He is so soft in the hand he barely has to move it. Very well educated horse

the tail has to be docked so it doesn't get tangled up around the stick.The tail bone is fine.
I've seen this same discipline of riding in North America with horses that have not had their tails cut. The tail doesn't get tangled in the pole
