Check Emission System Warning Engine Light On!

- This morning when we tried to start the car, we noticed that there's a warning message "Check Emission System" and the Engine Light is on. We started Googling and found a video that is really helpful. Then, we've opened up the car hood and notice the same hole as the other video in the Air Cleaner Intake Hose Fits.
We've called up the service center just to be sure, they said the parts will need to be replace if there's a hole, but you still need to do a computerize system check just to ensure that everything else is allright.
I called up a mechanic friend, he got the part as well as computerized system to perform the inspection after replacement.
After the part is replaced and computerized system checks all good, we start the car engine and Lo and Behold there's no more warning lights! Hope this video will help everyone else that's facing the same issue as well!

* UPDATED: The next week the Check Emission System light pops up again. We've sent to service center, they diagnosed it's the Knock Sensor that is facing issue and had to be replaced.

Without the Knock Sensor it's safe to drive, but it will cause more fuel consumption than usual and also will cause acceleration issues.

I have a 2013 Honda Civic 2-door. I have had this problem on-and-off for a month now. I took it where I normally get my car fixed... still have the issue. Apparently when you "clear" the errors on the car, it is no longer there. A few days later, the error comes back. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with the Honda dealership. I am tired of mechanics who are guessing and swapping out parts. I watched your video just now. My wife and I went out and looked. It is night time here, so I took a good flashlight. My "Air Flow Tube" is cracked exactly like yours was... in the exact same place. THANK YOU. Knowing what is wrong is 95% of it. Getting this fixed will be simple and easy (now that I know). Hi John, Yup that tube crack is pretty common after awhile, if the light is still on after replacing the cracked tube, it's worth to check the knock sensor which we had it replaced to permanently fix the issue as per our second video here th-cam.com/video/Lgj6EFLj2OY/w-d-xo.html . I used duct tape and had no problems since. Drove 5000 km like that no warnings.

My 2010 with 59 000 miles. Light indicated tighten gas cap. Bought a Honda gas cap for $80. I live in Hilo Hawaii. After 3 days according to the manual the engine light stayed on. Taking to dealer tomorrow. 12/30/21. Thanks for the lesson on CODES and resetting.
Did you solve the problem?
My mechanic changed the thermostat since that’s the warning code the machine gave him. The check engine came back again and upon inspecting the hose I saw that it’s broken at the same spot. Will be changing it, thank you.

thanks for a great video! i'm not able to verify if this is the problem with my civic at this time, but will check it after i get home. i REALLY appreciate the follow-up link in your description as i think that this 2nd issue might be the problem with my car for several years now. i'm off to watch that video and hope that between this video and your follow-up, i will be able to get this taken care of.

Yesterday I got the same error showing up, funny thing that the hose has a crack on the same exact spot hahaha. Very useful video man, now I can fix this issue.

Super thanks for your video, bud! I look looked under my hood and found the exact same crack on my air hose. I went to OReilley’s Auto Parts and verified with their code machine that this is the problem. Bought the part there for $28. Brought it to a mom & pops auto shop, had them take out old one & put in new one for $45 labor. Whole thing was relatively quick & cheap! Thanks for helping me save time & money!

I have a 2019 honda civic it's started after I had a recall for the fuel pump replaced. But it only comes on every blue moon and if the car is parked for few hours it goes away then comes on about a week or two later it does run hot but I'll check this out

Yo tuve el mismo problema en otra marca de auto, y simplemente era la tapa de la gasolina que no estaba bien cerrada. I had the same check light, in my car ( Another model and brand), and the problem was the gas cap was not well closed.
At first I was having the light cause the hose wasn't put on properly. After I noticed that.. I got the metal ring for them to attach the hose properly and the hose tore in the same exact spot as if it is not long enough to just reach. I'm gonna go pick up a new one

My crv with engine light and awd light on because the air host crack, I glued it with roof silicone, work very will.
The other car RDX emission light on too, also engine coming out some noise, I took out the air sensor near the air filter, spray some CRC electric cleaner on it, than disconnect the battery reset the code, down.
Had CHECK EMISSION SYSTEM AND CHECK TRANSMISSION SYSTEM on the dash along with engine light..code scanner showed P0843 to change transmission fluid pressure sensor...I changed the sensor and transmission fluid and still had the same error codes... RPM would double while driving...saw this video and replaced the air intake hose and the error seems to be gone...hoping it doesn't come again..thanks!!

Hopefully that’s the same problem I have. Looks like my tube has s crack as well. Did you fix it ? Was it an easy fix .
A week after replacing the tube, the light turned on again, we've sent to service center and it pointed to the knock sensor being faulty. We've replaced knock sensor and 4 spark plugs, it appears to be no more engine light now (refer to Part 2 video in description area or click here th-cam.com/video/Lgj6EFLj2OY/w-d-xo.html )

Do still remember if your car would stall out because of this damage? My car would turn off because it was sucking air incorrectly
CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL FIRST! If low then refill oil! If light comes back on, then its just the knock sensor..will cost you around $200 to fix.
way less if you fix it yourself

Did you ever put it on the OBD2 sensor to see what the code was that it was throwing mine is saying that it's my catalytic converter.
the computer was pointing to knock sensor which was replaced to permanently fixed the issue in part 2 of the video
@@nickkokimiko mine is pointing towards the catalytic converter but it's insanely expensive to replace. You can buy universal ones for a couple hundred dollars and do it yourself but Honda wants like $1,000 for a genuine heart and probably and another 500 to 1000 to install it
@@krakenhits1587you’ve probably gotten it fixed by now but me and my friend replaced the catalytic converter with no experience. Just cut off the rusty bolts and replace with the new. Saved a couple hundred dollars. It’s pretty easy

My car has the same issue but it stuck on 3rd gear does isn’t it from the tube being cracked?
You can check if there's a crack around the tube. Also, if the gear got stuck, best to check with a mechanic

How do I know if my hose is damaged. That light keeps coming on☹️
Try to inspect the hose with a flashlight to see if there's any holes otherwise best to send to the mechanic to get it inspected.

try a can of SEAFOAM 10 dollars in you fuel tank before you do this
Did you clear the code after installing the hose?
I didn't install the hose myself, it's my friend which is a car mechanic at the workshop
