Ski and Hike BUFFALO MOUNTAIN 12,781 ft!! (Summit County Colorado!)

'Twas a glorious day for a backcountry hike and ski in the great outdoors of Colorado, where 2 extrepid explorers set out for the summit of Buffalo Mountain perched high above the towns of silverthorne, Dillon, Keystone Frisco and Breckenridge in the Rockies. Great views abound in the gore range, with arapahoe basin, copper mountain, breck and keystone in sight. We packed our skis and snowboards to our packs and hit the trail, before slogging uphill through a trecherous bushwack of steep postholing which would lead to a more mellow alpine slope above treeline where we could finally skin and splitboard our way to the upper peak. Spring skiing and amazing soft fast slushy snow awaited us down the open face before funneling us back into the pinball trees below. we then trekked back out and made it back to town in time to go to work in the evening. what a day! adventure is out there, go and claim it! the snow should still be good for skiing all summer. stay stoked and shred on homies!
