This video couldn't have come at a more convenient time. I've been looking hard at either building or buying a slab flattener for my cutting board operations. Thanks for helping me my a serious $ decision on a quality piece of woodworking equipment. Keep them videos coming Young Man! Good luck on your diet and path to good health.
If you're getting scallops, you should be able to level the router out to take care of them. The reason you get them is because one side of the router bit is lower than the other. This can be true from left to right and front to back.
That's pretty slick. And it's just screaming for some automation. Adding both X and Y drive systems would be >so< easy with that design. And who knows, maybe they already offer that, but I haven't been to their website yet to find out. I was also thinking about that for your firewood wrapper -- Using a windshield wiper motor and either some switches or a simple timer and you could add power wrapping to it for easily under $100.
Good evening Brock. I'm really late watching tonight. I ended up in the emergency room at Dubois Pa. hospital. After the surgery on my right foot my left foot swelled up and was hurting so bad that I couldn't walk at all. So the consensus is that I somehow developed gout in my left foot. It's been treated and is doing very well. I should be home tomorrow sometime. God bless, Merry Christmas to you and your whole family and have a wonderful day. I think that I have an idea what's in the crates. 👍👍🙂
I will probably lean it up against the wall. I currently don’t have any wall space available, but I can pick it up by hand and carry it. The tables are always in there anyway. You could put some pulleys on the ceiling and lift it up. Again, it doesn’t weigh very much
The planer I have retails for $2500 and can handle material 15 inches wide. I want to be able to flatten material 4 foot wide. A planner that will flatten slabs that big would cost a fortune Also, a planer does not actually flatten bow or warped wood. It makes it uniform thickness, which is not the same as Flat. You can flatten wood with a planer, but you have to make a flattening jig.
I've got a 12" x96" long table Grizzly carbide knives Jointer and a 15" carbide knives Jet planer I use to flatten and true boards. Much better than this...but a whole heck of a lot more moolah.
I have a used planer and a used jointer, but they’re small. I wanted to be able to do 4 foot wide material but I definitely can’t buy something expensive that will do it

I’m a week in and over 10 pounds lighter. I’m starting to get comfortable with it.
Excellent video friend. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Thanks
Morning everyone
Mornin' Todd! 🤠

I built my own with some Vevor linear rails and some plexiglass. Looks a lot like the one from Crafted Elements. Works great!
That is what I was going to do until I saw this one
How much did it cost to build yours?? I was thinking of doing that also.
Very informative; great video!!
Howdy Brock! Looks great! Looking forward to seeing what you work on with it. Thanks for sharing 🤠
Never heard of a slab flattener. What I usually need is a board stretcher.

I think that is their plan, but it’s not available yet
I don’t know if I’m smart enough to do it myself
That’s a nice toy for the shop would be worth the price of bit that’s got replaceable tips🇺🇸👍
I’m a sucker for a father/son team! I’m hoping my son follows in what I do and so far so good!
I knew that you were eventually going to get one of those specially if you wanted to do woodworking with your slabs

Merry Christmas
The secret is not just what is in them, but why I have them. Planning to announce that Friday morning.
That looks great. Is it because of how wide slabs are that you couldn’t use a planner.
Yes. I’m wanting to do 4 foot wide material.
How will you store this when not in use ? It's a workspace eater !
pc
I was wondering the same. Bigger hp router is needed IMO but money determines that.

Very cool, perhaps suspend the power cord from above so it's always out of the way?
Why not use a planer

That’s an expensive product. The black in that board is spalting. You can make some servings trays with handles. Women love them!

Market place and Craigslist. Just depends on your funds. I agree with you on having those 2 machines in a shop.
