    This live version never fails to bring me to tears, the studio version is great, but this live version is just so emotion packed that he could reduce 150,000 fans to silence.

    A truly beautiful masterpiece of vocals conveying heartfelt emotion backed up by superior piano playing. Love this more then the studio version and I think that is sheer Freddie perfection.

    This performance brings me to tears every time. The way Freddie controls the entire audience by merely lifting his finger and giving them a sly glance with his eyes, is chillingly beautiful.

    Love this performance of the song. I find it absolutely stunning. The studio version is good, but the live version gives it something very, very special. Freddie's breathy-ness and vibrato here completely changes it. And just him and the piano makes the song feel so much more intimate. It's the perfect mixture of beautiful and almost haunting.

      This was freddie at the height of his vocal powers!
      In the late 80s his voice suffered due to the hectic touring schedule and ultimately the disease that took him away from us.......
      He was still amazing regardless even to his last performance

    First time I saw Queen was mid 1970's...my friend had a ticket then let us all in through the toilet window!!!! Fell in love with Freddie that night I was 14 years old. 45 years later and I'm still in love...🤗🤗🤗👍💗

    It’s difficult to imagine watching this live within a crowd of 120,000 people around you, and they were all under Freddie’s spell.
    Pfffft yes it is a pretty song.

    This is one of my favorite FM clips. Freddie rarely sang this song on stage. I have heard a music analyst say this was probably because it would have been hard for him to hear himself sing this quiet song in the middle of a raucous crowd, so not sure why he decided to do it this night - may have been because it was new and he was so excited about it. Thanks for your reaction to it.

    • @logexpTommy

      Im pretty sure this was performed for most of the Races Tour, so it wasn't that rare.

    • @kathyabramowitz5110
      @kathyabramowitz5110 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@logexpTommy OK - I was going by what the analyst said and the fact that it was hard to find any examples of him singing this song on TH-cam. At any rate, he didn't sing it later than Races.....

    It IS a pretty song. Whatever adjective is used, it's undeniable that it is a great piece of music with lyrics that anyone who has ever been hopelessly and irrevocably in love with someone else can relate to. Pretty, gorgeous, stunning, they all apply! Cheers!

  • @ZENOBlAmusic

    Great reaction, this is a lovely song, and Freddie's vulnerability makes it extra special! You guys should react to My Melancholy Blues the live version from 1977. I know you have done the studio version but the live version is amazing. For something a bit similar try Dreamers Ball live in Paris 1979. It's Late is one of Queen's best songs, but it so underrated, you have to react to it. For something interesting listen to the first song Freddie recorded, I Can Hear Music, this song along with Going Back has an interesting history.

    If you haven't, please listen to the studio versions of Love of My Life and You Take My Breath Away. They're much more complex and sound completely different from the live versions (Brian even taught himself to play the harp for Love of My Life).
    My late husband and I considered You Take My Breath Away as "our song" ... it's very special.

    I love this performance. The recorded version is much bigger. Freddie did all the background vocals. Brian May did a small guitar solo that fooled me in the beginning of it. I thought it was a Cello for a moment.

    So glad you did this live performance on this song. Please play it again on your own and watch Freddie's face while listening to the lyrics. It is eerily beautiful with just Freddie and piano. The studio version is very nice, of course, but I feel it takes away the emotion Freddie is showing and singing. Live performances from this group are always better. Have you yet done Love of My Life? You would enjoy that also, just Freddie (and thousands in the crowd) singing the song accompanied only by Brian May on the guitar.

    This is one of his very best songs it is very short as you said but very impactful. It is nice to hear how a man feels when he expresses his love someone. There are not many men who could have given that song any better vocals, meaning like Freddie Mercury could do. He is just totally outstanding up until this very day. Is nice to know that a man has a heart I can open up that widely God bless him I miss you Freddie

    Some argue this is a song that is better in studio form. Have no opinion on it myself as both version are quite different. Freddie's voice has a certain fragility to it that does not often appear. I have always liked this live version.

    If you love this song, I'll be your Valentine's date! I nearly implode every time I hear this stripped version. And watching him just nearly disappear into it is tear jerking. THE BEST LYRICS for a "love song" ever written. I would die if someone ever wrote something so beautiful for me. And he was only, what, like mid 20s? Good grief. It's nearly impossible to describe this song.

  • @WobblyBiped
    @WobblyBiped 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is such an appealing melody, and the studio version is one of the few times I'd say is better. The song has always had a different "sound" to me. I've read elsewhere that FM used the harmonic minor scale here. FM had an explosive period of creativity in the 1970s; this song reflects his musical genius.

    Hey guys, you want something modern rock now with classic feel try BANDMAID an all female hard rock band from Japan. Songs: take me higher, thrill, play, puzzle, blooming. These ladies are insanely talented and their musicianship is out of this world. Fyi they sing japanese with hints of English in their songs but very catchy. The music is so damn good.

    As I watch through many of the Queen reaction videos by various folk, and as I read through the comments accordingly, I feel I see a pattern of comments which seem to always influence the reactors to listen to the live versions of all the songs, and this is great because Queen, of course, were/are amazing live...
    Yet I do believe more studio versions of the songs need looking at too as Queen were stupendous in the studio. Innovative, rule breaking and dynamic only begin to describe them.
    I say please check out studio and then live versions where applicable and appreciate the unique offerings in each!
    Peace, love and Praise Fred!
