This is what Rock & Roll started out sounding like. The Big Bopper, Bill Haley & the Comets, Johnny Ray and a few other groups and solo artists of various previous music careers in different genre. Reminds me of "Chantilly Lace".
I've been lucky to have seen the Big 6 a couple times. One of the best rockabilly bands on the planet. If you can find it, snag this CD (you may have to go to Amazon or ebay as it is LONG out of print). It has more tracks than the vinyl. I mean come on, these guys absolutely kick ass! Just shows that good rock is good rock - no matter what style... I love the T Rex version, but this hillbilly version is just as cool - and a welcome variation. Wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t just a great rock track👍
I also heard it on the Truman show while the were at the school dance. I had to find it. Love it. Thanks for posting.. When did Big Six first record this? If you know.
to BLACKCATCOMBO's comment below...I actually thought it was Johnny Burnett trio! :-) I heard it in the Truman Show, then later I got a Johnny Burnett CD, and thought it was the "HONEY HUSH" song :-) it has the same string bending thing going on in the song...Then I checked the credits on Truman Show later, and was like what?...so I tracked down this video, now I must have the album this is on!...good rockabilly is good rockabilly in my book! :-) hahaha!

Just arrived from Truman Show, this masterpiece gave me shivers and it's music, man...love it.
Same. Makes me want to learn how to swing dance. Love that scene. Jim Carrey was grooving!
The Truman Show .... movie of the year 1998 but yesterday i saw for first time .... and i listeneded this masterpiece!

+Lamont Lewis Big Bopper??? He was a DJ who got lucky with a novelty hit
Perhaps. But so did Bobby Hebb with 'Sonny', and a host of other 'one and done' performers who created a music fixture.
Bobby hebb was a true singer and great guitarist also. I agree he was a one hit wonder .

The Truman Show, I've seen this movie ten times, this song is a classic
Still the best version of this song ❤️😁💥
Wait... so the original song is a 1970s rock song that was covered by a rockabilly band decades later? I always assumed this was a 1950s classic...

They’re actually a band from the UK from the 90’s that pretend they’re in the 50’s.
It’s also their cover of the song originally by T-REX. This cover was used for the soundtrack for “The Truman Show”.
