- This is a Chinese Civil War song about the Huaihai Campaign, November 1948 to January 1949. This recording comes from the 90th Anniversary of Chinese People's Liberation Army Opera.

Why does a Chinese soldier have an american Thompson submachine
The US supplied the ROC with arms and other military equipment during it's war with japan, I imagine that Thompson either fell into the hands of the communist Chinese either through defection or capture. Either way, considering your name I imagine you're a child, enjoy childhood instead of worrying about politics, there's plenty of time later for that misery.
The CPC army even had Stuart tank at that time

What would have happened if the Americans didn’t come? The war would have lasted much longer and we would have to fight a bloody war in Japan, which they would not give up easily. And that’s assuming that China somehow beat the Japanese navy with their obsolete tiny navy and didn’t lose the war in the first place. Then what would that achieve? The same outcome

Japan would still lose all their mainland possessions including Korea. They'd be pretty fucked in that position alone, plus the Soviet Union would attack in any moment from then on.
