My board arrived today and I'm absolutely amazed at how _quickly_ it arrived. It was shipped from Istanbul Turkey this past Wednesday, November 18th, and it was delivered to me this morning, on the 20th! I live in Southern California! It was still in _France_ as earlier as yesterday! That's amazing. I was told it would be packaged very carefully and it most certainly was. In fact, I've probably never received anything packaged better my entire life. It's a very nice, high quality board. I love the sleek design. I love that it has no handle. When you are using a backgammon board, and playing a game on it, there is no _need_ for a handle! (And we all spend much more time playing games on it than you we do carrying it.) I think the Galaxy logo printed on the Styrofoam box (which I will probably throw away anyway) is a nice touch. The checkers have a very nice feel to them. The separate carrying tray for the checkers, dice cups, and cube, is a unique and yet very practical concept. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with this board. I own over 19 different tournament-size boards, and I'm happy to add this one to my collection.
I had a similar experience when my FMGammon VIP board was shipped from Istanbul on a Monday, and arrived at my door in NorCal on Friday afternoon. Sounds like your experience was even FASTER, which is amazing! Nice concise review of the board features that you like. Congrats on the new board, to add to your extensive collection!
I study Product Development and I can say that this Backgammon board is such a beautiful and well designed product, with brilliant solutions as to be able to put the checkholders inside the board to make the entire board smaller for carrying. And even the sounds the board make when you move those checkers and roll the dice on the felt is just adding to the experience! How unfortunate that you only did 50 of Those. However I'm gonna order the Inlays and Checkers and I'm currently working on crafting my Own Neptune Board. I'ts gonna turn out just as good (I hope)!
I was kicking around the ideal of doing an "unboxing video" when I unboxed my Galaxy "Neptune" board. However, I no longer plan on doing that... because I wouldn't be able to top this video. You did a great job showing it off and describing its features. Good work and well done. Also, thank you for lowering the price for those of us who already purchased it.

Great design and different (unique) from other boards; the removable bear off tray is a great idea! I still love my Gammoner board but this would be a great alternative board to use for backgammon meets that we have over here in the UK in Cornwall with the TVBB (Tamar Valley Backgamon Bash).
The Gammoner board is, of course, something extremely special... "The Porsche 911" of backgammon boards! :) But for traveling to tournaments, the Galaxy board is really optimal! The size difference in closed state is huge!
You convinced me. But the dark blue points HAVE to be MUCH darker, for purer contrast. Bravo -- 'MARC' surely has another career as pitchman for many diverse products.

What of cause is the colour of your brand. I find it acceptable on the monitor, I find it is a No Go on a real Board. These are the official galaxy board colors, BUT if the Neptune board sells well, there will be other board variations coming. But this exact model, there will only be 50 produced.

I would have a fear that the magnet locks do not close properly (after a certain period of time at least), but otherwise it looks perfect for traveling! Congrats for this gorgeous board!

That is one gorgeous board. Backgammon Galaxy is great stuff. Have you thought about designing a clock that has a dice randomizer built into it? That might be very good for speed backgammon.
In the UBC Contender tournament 2020, in February, we played with video recognition transcription, which used a tablet with clock and dice. That went very well!

I find it so inspiring to see individuals creating what they want to see in the world (and we get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!) Could you give us details on material use for the playing surface? (is it Merino wool? thickness?) Are points printed or cut? My major concern is the outer frame getting scratched up from daily use - what do you think about wear and tear on the exterior - for instance just sliding the box on a table? May I inquire into why the price was dropped so dramatically? Was the final product not exactly what you expected?

Another good thing about the size is you can put it in your carry-on. I refuse to put my good board in checked luggage -- which means I can never travel with it.
This one you can simply put on the sleeve to protect, or even the synthetic leather carry bag, and then it goes perfectly well in your travel suitcase along side your clothes and shoes! :)
Love the concept. However the Backgammon Galaxy colors I am not a fan of. Looks like it blends too much and not enough contrast for my eyes. I prefer the more traditional Green field with Black & White points or Grey field with Black & White points. Might end up getting me one of these some day down the road.
Hello Marc, I think it looks like a fine Travelling Board for me. But... in this price segment, silver hinges so exposed on the bar, are a NO GO for me. Where is the problem to blend this hinges with a black metall plate or something like that ? I bought a Backgammon Board in Germany under 55,00€ with no hinges from inside or outside the board to see. This small Board has for his unbeatable price, such a perfect and simple design.
How many cameras do you have going? How many cameramen? What editing software do you use? It appears one manned camera in front of you and two unmanned cameras on the side?

For playing speed matches dice towers can be really nice as you can quickly pick up dice and put them in. Unless you’re a real purist it can be a nice addition.
Gorgeous board, but I can't get over how expensive these are. You can get premium boards and playsets for almost any other game for a fraction of the price. For these prices I would expect stone pieces, engraving, or something else to justify cost. Why is cloth lined, leather covered box with plastic pieces so pricey?!
There are many details and levels to a luxury board, and what might look beautiful, but is in reality a tourist/amateur board, that a pro would never play on. For instance: checker size and texture. The surface material and friction with checkers. Dimensions of the board. Material of the frame. The cups. The Cube. The precision dice. Etc. A looot of details. Backgammon boards comes in all price ranges, and there are luxury boards at 4-10 times the price of the Neptune board.
