A great video review of a cool watch. I like the 1970s era of watches. Reminds me of high school and all the other history of that period. Thank you Dan
Just ordered the blue SCR all sport version and cannot wait! I’m getting it in August 2024, after missing out in the 2nd drop which sold out under 2 minutes!
I used to watch that show as a kid, never dreaming that, half a century later, I'd be interested to hear what watch he wore while on patrol. I love retro divers.
Pre-ordered the 1A using your link, thank you. What a incredible story and introduction to Sheffield, this watch is gorgeous and an incredible value, seriously. Absolutely can't wait to get this in hand, I'm in love. Honestly, what a great time to be a watch collector! Thanks again for sharing, I'm rooting for this brand.
I really like this and was unaware of the brand until recently. In the UK this is £143, which is a great price for a watch with real provenance when compared to the usual Ali Express stuff.
Just received the Sheffield City UK Edition with the British Flag located above 6o'clock. Very blessed to have this as thought I missed out...pound for pound the best watch I've ever purchased. Love the design, weight, look and feel on my wrist. For the price there is nothing to complain about...just enjoy.
Received my Allsport yesterday. I can honestly say that your video doesn't do it justice. The fit and finish are amazing. On the wrist it is so comfortable. Everything lines up perfectly (are you listening Seiko!?). Everything about this watch speaks quality. The hand set and indices perfectly match the time period. The NH35 movement is running spot on. For me it's the perfect watch. Well done Jay, and thank you for your wonderful customer service.
I rather like the look of this. Not keen on the date magnifier though and I wish the hour hand reached to the inside edge of the markers and the arrow tip of the second hand be smaller, both as per the original. Perfect size for me though and good price. I could be tempted by this, is a good looking watch. Shame the blue one sold out.
Dan: Your video came a little too late. I pre-ordered my Sheffield 1A about a week ago. I own an original Sheffield diver, which was my very first watch that my grandmother gave me back in the late 1960s (I was less than 10 years old). I still have the watch and had a new crystal and got it serviced. I didn't think you were interested in these watches, or I would have inquired to see if you can service it for me. Thank you for posting this video. I guess our minds are a like. PS: The Pogue is still on my wrist, and my daughter is wearing my vintage Sheffield.
Just when I thought life couldn't get any better my watch guy says he's a Porsche guy! And he's a real Porsche guy because he pronounces it correctly. My day is complete.
Thanks for doing a review of this watch. I like the diameter of the modern one. The thicker case makes sense between moving to an automatic movement (preferred for me) and Seiko's robust movement isn't necessarily thin (like a Miyota 9000 series). It would cost a fair bit more with the Miyota though. I am shocked by the accuracy you got. I know they generally come more accurate than the specs state, but wow!
As far as I know Jay regulates every watch. I have the black version and the accuracy is outstanding. I just wished there was a thicker application of lume on the numbers. This would be more in line with the vintage look and feel.
Honestly, I think it’s a lovely watch and a great design. I just wish it would’ve been a case like the 62 Mas with no crown guards to pay even more tribute to the vintage model. Maybe in the future, we might see a model without Crown guards.
Dang! I have the original. It keeps good time when it wants to. I've have commented many times how I wish they would just make the same watch today. Not inspired, but as close a copy as they can. And today i discovery they have made it!!! I'm all over the 38mm!!! Odd. My original Sheffield has the cursive script.
Snagged one of the last Camp 24s. Did you get one? Really unfortunate that the blue Spike watch was released in the only 2 week period that I didnt listen to the show in years. Such a cool looking watch.
I agree, I would also prefer it without crown guards, if that is in the works that would be awesome. I would also prefer a no cyclops option. Everything else about it looks absolutely amazing 😎
The case is just a Submariner homage, bought from China, with an engraved caseback. It doesn't really look like the original. I guess the dial and bezel insert are fairly authentic to the one that you own.
The original looks better in every way. It’s a more refined and cohesive design. It’s more with less. But the new one is still gorgeous!

They are really great watches for the money.
If I'm not mistaken, Pete Malloy from the 70s Adam12 wore a Sheffield divers throughout the shows run

Absolutely love the coffin indices. Great review, thank you!
My pleasure!
I got my SCR edition yesterday in the mail. Now I'm watching this video with it on the wrist. I love it! Thanks for the video.
How is the lume on the indices and numerals? Is the bezel luminous?

I've just pre-ordered the A1 as shown in your video. I can't wait to get it on my wrist. A beautiful successor to the original.
Hope you enjoy it!

What a fun review. I want it now too.

Impressed with the out of box accuracy! Also like the date magnification.
Me too! It’s a genuinely good watch.
Thank Seiko for that, and I guess Sheffield for regulating it.

Just Jay just released the 38mm version, it's a real beauty.

I’m not surprised to hear that. Jay seems really committed to the QC .
How is the lume in the dark?
@@hymonom quite good
Great, great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
That diver logo on the watch looks very similar, if not the same, to the Mortima line of diver watches.
Yes. Quite similar

Sweet 🙌🏻🙏🏻. Will do 👍🏻💪🏻

That is a sharp watch! A no-brainer, except & recently eBay'd a Timex J Crew Andros which ticks every Blancpain/Planet Ocean box I want

I didn't get one. Oh well! I hope you enjoy it.
thanks for this .. definitely puts this watch on my radar :) never heard of this brand before, but yes it looks like an amazing watch !!
My pleasure!
These are magnificent!
It's really nice but I'd prefer it without crown guards as the original was a skin diver.. Nice looking watch though.
I think that design may be in the works. Thanks for watching.

Very nice watch indeed! Think I will get one. Cheers
Good choice! It’s a lot of watch for the price.
This is an excellent remodel, the original was let down by the base metal case/crown, these are well underpriced in my opinion.
I agree. A great restart of a classic brand. I suspect there will be more to come
Beautiful watch except for one glaring flaw: it's screaming for a box crystal.
What is a box crystal? I don’t know that term.
I don't know why they can't reissue a watch without upsizing and making it thicker than it usually is.
Not a reissue, a reimagining
Looks pretty straightforward. Can't see how this is a "disrupter." Lol
Well. It’s definitely a lot of watch for the money. And taking the leap to buy a brand and start something new is not so simple. That’s what I meant.

So, is that a like or dislike?
@@BlairWatchProject it's a dislike. Looks cheap, that's why it is I guess.
@@stubronstein9932 that's fair. However, I will say that it is "cheap". For $180 it's a bargain.
No lume shotM
Just like cars the new version is always bigger. 👎
There is talk of a smaller version. Stay tuned!
Thanks, I’ll keep checking their site.
