My 2001 MXZ 600 has had some serious problems over my ownership of it. Bout it not knowing that the engine had been blown. So when I got it back, the engine blew in 30 mins. We rebuilt the whole top end which cost me half the season. Then, this year early December, the chaincase went. Luckily it was only a blown chain and no damage was done to the gears, but another problem nonetheless. After replacing the chaincase, my heat exchanger blew out, stranding me 50miles down the trail. Fixed the heat exchanger and now I'm having clutch, and engine issues. It is the sled from hell for sure. Continue these repair videos. I love learning new things to do by myself. You're videos are amazing and keep up the great work!!
fix all the sleds! a learning experience for all! just like they say, experience is the best teacher! so he'll yeah I'm in for the ride, wanna see the repair and the ride after the fix! love the vids!
As a zr600 owner i must say mine treats me perfectly. The fixes that are needed are usually easy and forgiving too, so i would love to see a vid on you guys fixing your zr600 up!
Had that same bearing go out on my 1993 indy 500. My driveshaft was still usable but it also cracked the chaincase at the lower bearing. I ended up getting a used chaincase and upgrading to the xtra 10 suspension. Be advised there is a bearing retainer for that side of the driveshaft. Do a google search for a parts blowup for your sled, it will show you all the parts you need. Good luck and yes please do a video on the repair.
Yep, git er done!! Would like to see a follow up video on the repair, test ride and some sugaring. Enjoy following you and the guys on your adventures.
+1 for the repair, its good info for all of us with sleds that are old enough to vote! Especially for those of us (me) that bought the poor sleds that came from owners that have no clue what a grease fitting is let alone own a grease gun. Sugaring sounds like a fun adventure, +1 on that too. Is Travis in Arizona? Did i miss a video? Keep up the carvdocking Jer!
The fixes and the rebuilds are alot of fun to watch. Great learning experience. Ontop of the snomo vlogs and regular vlogs. IT is all ALOT of fun to watch the builds are fun to watch and very addictive and as stated great learning experience. Keep it up. Love the videos Jeremy
When the speedo stops working it usually is a sign that the bearing is going bad, it’s designed that way to let you know it’s time for a new bearing. There is a small speedo cable insert that goes in the center of the drive axle that is designed to break when the bearing starts going bad. Hope that helps!
Not sure if you already put this machine back together, if not inspect all the bearings in the rear suspension and replace any that are rough. Esp the 3 rear most wheels, if they fail you loose track tension. Also a good time to inspect the sliders (hyfax). That secondary clutch should come off without a puller, makes installing the driveshaft bearing and cup easier.
Love your videos! I bought a 02 RMK and on my first ride, the shaft went through the sidewall. I sold it two weeks later, but after seeing your video got to thinking maybe I should have kept it and fixed it. Keep filming!
Worked on the older wedge style lots and find the the big cc triples will break them under stress from no slip with a studded track. Much the same effect as a quad twists off a shaft with big tires. Also the outer bearing will stick also and pull itself apart if not maintained with grease. Hope this helps.
I was yelling the rear flapper is stuck on the track. You guys are fun to watch. Mike is funny tell him hey from Eagle Rider .Maybe some of us from the West coast should rally on dual sports come to Vermont.that would make some Awesome videos. That would be a Awesome ride I'm in Central Oregon if your ever in the area I got tons of property .One of the most beautiful places on earth . God Bless """"RIDE ON"""
If your speedo isn't working its a good sign the bearing is going out. Also take the secondary clutch off so you have more room to work on the bearing. Don't forget a new seal for the chaincase.
Yes i've seen that happen quite a few times. It's from not changing bearings before they go. That bearing went, (When the speedo goes, the first thing you should check is that bearing is bad, because it sheers the speedo shaft off) and because he kept driving the sled, the shaft was just turning inside that coupler (aluminum shaft on metal coupler).
Hay man ive been working on polaris sleds for over ten years and when your speed o meter stops working the bearing is gone on that side. He said it never worked so the bearing was bad sience he bought it, and that lead to driveshaft failure. Love the channel!! Hit me up if you got any sled questions.
Yes we want to c u put it back together these r the best vids thats how i found u When 3d machine n louie skebo stoped fixing in there videos plus i have the same sled as u
hey Jeremy man it seems like there is always something to fix on a snowmachine,,lol I have been working on sleds just about everyday ,,that was a great disassembly on mikes sled hope you guys can get it back together for cheap ,, I like to see the video's of working on stuff also stay safe guys ,,till next time ,,KABOOM,,,LIKED ( thumbs up)
I’d like fixing videos but you should get a nice skidoo 600 2017 and you should get a 250 or 125 2 stroke or 4 stroke love the vids keep doing this your getting really successful and keep riding
This was just grinding into things 😂 Looking forward to the repairs. Why not keep tutorials here so you don't have twice the work? That bearing was ploded! Holy shit guys. Yes on the sugar thing too. Being a desert rat I'm loving this stuff.
30's of sledding.. I've never seen a shaft that badly damaged!! OUCH! I've lost bearings and run race on race for 80miles but never broke the shaft like that.. WOW!
I was riding my 06 Arctic Cat 660 (no turbo) down the trail at about 20 mph and I got about three seconds of shaking and then a crunch and it didn't go anymore. The shaft snapped right in the middle. I determined that it is an inherit design flaw of using a hex shaft, as the shape of it creates stress concentration points that just simply results in metal fatigue over time. Some sleds go forever on that shaft without issue, and some break. I added 2 driver wheels for a total of 4 in hopes of putting some of the stresses out towards the bearings, where such forces have less mechanical advantage on the shaft. Hopefully, that never happens again.
Awesome video! I really enjoy these kinds of videos and I would love to see some more! We tap trees up in northern Vermont not to far from where you guys are at! I think a video on that would be cool!! Keep up the awesome work!!
I've got the same sled. My shaft snapped completely. I did it by jumping hard drifts and there was no driving it into a garage. I was miles from home and had to walk in then spent 2 hours in the dark trying to get it on a trailer by myself. I was so tired that I didn't think to pull the belt to make it easier to load. My chain case had to be replaced as well. I love jumping those hard drifts but not enough to go through that again.
Hey buddy, great video as always, would like to see the repair video and the sugaring video. How often should the suspension be greased? I've owned my sled for 3 yrs and haven't touched it but also only put a mile in the 3 yrs on my sled!
The way I fixed my sled was I ran a rachet strap from the bar on the back to the rafters, an back down to the bar to hold the back end up. It made everything easier.
Same happened to me same side too "dry as hell" not greased since 97😂😂 ordered (all) new ones from All Balls Racing (97Polaris ultra spx) but far from home 😂 Ya man I've seen this b4
A torch works good for getting the bearings off. The secondary drive will slip off if you loosen one bolt I would replace with new shaft and bearing because I wouldn't gamble with used parts. Put a drill on the speedo cable and see if it will work I fixed the speedo on my 700 and works like it was never broken
...and no, it's not the snow flap! Lol! Thanks for watching riders! Ride more!
same thing happened to my sled
how long ago did the speedo quit working?
Were just gonna scroll down for snow flap comments XD
Just going to send it Larry enticer style Jeremy you,are a good, charter
I got a 1990 skandic

Awesome! Thank you, Paul! It should be interesting to repair this one! It's a pretty terrible break!!
Cool
I needed these videos years ago. I probably would still have a couple of my old sleds. Keep up the good work.
As a zr600 owner i must say mine treats me perfectly. The fixes that are needed are usually easy and forgiving too, so i would love to see a vid on you guys fixing your zr600 up!
Your snowflap was stuck under the tunnel
Haha Yeah, it always does that!
Had that same bearing go out on my 1993 indy 500. My driveshaft was still usable but it also cracked the chaincase at the lower bearing. Jeremy & Mike good time to check & replace any broken track clips. It’s kinda a sucky job but it has to be done, I did 3 sleds when I was 16.
Yep, git er done!! Would like to see a follow up video on the repair, test ride and some sugaring. Enjoy following you and the guys on your adventures.

That is a common failure in Arctic Cats, but you are spot on, the grease fitting was never greased.
that bearing was absolutely beautiful
Definitely keep up the snowmobile ridding and repair videos.

If your speedo isn't working its a good sign the bearing is going out. Also take the secondary clutch off so you have more room to work on the bearing. Don't forget a new seal for the chaincase.
Tighten up the track keep up the good videos
Yes i've seen that happen quite a few times. It's from not changing bearings before they go. This was just grinding into things 😂 Looking forward to the repairs. Why not keep tutorials here so you don't have twice the work? That bearing was ploded! Holy shit guys. Yes on the sugar thing too. Being a desert rat I'm loving this stuff.
My uncles 1999 indy just snapped it’s driveshaft right in the middle . We couldn’t find one so we welded it. It works great now.
Yes seen this on a 93 polaris 500 touring. The snap ring land broke about 1/3 of the way around.
Definitely do a video on the rebuild
30's of sledding.. I've never seen a shaft that badly damaged!! OUCH! I've lost bearings and run race on race for 80miles but never broke the shaft like that.. WOW!

I've got the same sled. My shaft snapped completely. I did it by jumping hard drifts and there was no driving it into a garage. Hey buddy, great video as always, would like to see the repair video and the sugaring video. How often should the suspension be greased? I've owned my sled for 3 yrs and haven't touched it but also only put a mile in the 3 yrs on my sled!
Your the man Jeremy best
Haha Thank you, Emil! I beg to differ, but I appreciate that!
The way I fixed my sled was I ran a rachet strap from the bar on the back to the rafters, an back down to the bar to hold the back end up. It made everything easier.
Aye love the vids, im from Michigan and live in alaska lova yall.

Same happened to me same side too "dry as hell" not greased since 97😂😂 ordered (all) new ones from All Balls Racing (97Polaris ultra spx) but far from home 😂
Ya man I've seen this b4
This is a pretty common issue on Polaris snowmobiles. Had it happen to a friend of mine. Every year I grease mine!!
I would love the sugaring videos. We also collect sap.
