I remember being a kid watching the bfi trucks roll down the street. Then it was allied a few years later, then republic and is now groot. Oh the simpler days
Yea, theres 6 dumpsters, but only these 3 are serviced by this truck. The area is kinda like a strip mall, and the individual businesses are allowed to pick there disposal company.
don't know the exact time for the other 3, they are each serviced by different trucks and different companies. I'll see about getting more, but its hard for me to have time from work to be here at the right time, and the last time I tried, I got run off by some "rent-a-cop" security before the truck came. Theres a big office building behind me, and I sure some overpaid exec didn't like the looks of someone lottering on the roof of his parking garage.
It was an Olympus 8080, its mostly a still shot camera, but it does have a movie mode thats passable. A real camcorder would have been better, but you can't tell with youtube's compression.
5 stars man great vid and great job :D its nice to see a view like that by the way how many dumpsters are there anyway it looks like 6 are they all in one location or are there more dumpsters like that in the complex? i once lived in a complex that had 15 6 yd dumpsters
Heaps Cool video!! Love how it shows the inside of the hopper - I got this type of shot, nor directly over the hopper, though! Thanks for Posting! - Mitch
Yes, even a cheep camcorder is going to be better than this camera for video. This Olympus is great for still shots, but video just isn't its thing. I had bought it earlier for other things, so it was available. If your buying a camcorder for this, try to find one with good night mode. As you well know, a lot of collections happen in the dark, and having a camcorder that can handle low light recording situations well would be an advantage.
Yeah people will obey stickers...as far as cardboard goes, I belive customers should only have access through a small slot and the lids held in place with a gravity lock bar to keep thing in order.
I remember watching this way back in 2008.
Great video, however it has made it clear why these kinds of dumpsters are not used in CA.

I've yet to figure out why so many operators are reluctant to close the roof. That way, one sweep of the packer and you'd be done, rather than 2 or 3.

This was shot in Austin Texas. I believe the BFI/Allied yard is over in Del Valley.
SCSITerminator Please don't ever delete this video man.

What BFI division is this truck based out of?
one of the best BFI vids ever!
Nicely done. What type of camera or camcorder are you using?
Cool, just curious its really hard to tell the MR/Heil is the universal setup pretty much wi the exception of the west coast
I will, thanks for the advice, I can't wait to capture the true sound of my truck's engine and post better quality vids.
I absolutly LOVE the sound of that truck, especially when he switches back into drive and is pulling forward...love that big BEEFY sound.
