This is an awesome sound and i love the very 80s opening sequence in this program. What a magical, wonderful decade this was. I hope us lucky enough to live it enjoyed it, these kind of times will never happen ever again.
Man I hope the band actually gets to read this comment it would be cool. I was born in Portugal where I lived the first 21 years of my life before I come to the US. The "Worlds away" album was the soundtrack of my life in one of those years but, the insert to the album had an interesting issue, the lyrics to another song that was not included in the album. Back then there was no internet so we always knew Strange Advance had 1 more song but we never heard it. A few years ago I decided to search TH-cam and I find that Strange Advance had a few other songs. Every time I hear this music it takes me back to a special time and place, I can almost smell the ocean I saw every day. Thank you, great to see this.
In the late 80s, I was working as a DJ in a club in Michigan that was all about playing videos. We had tapes (VHS and Beta) laser discs, and even a satellite dish to feed all the screens around the club. One night, I found Much Music on the satellite. "Hey, this is like MTV, only Canadian!"
Terry David Mulligan was the best VJ ever. I watched him on "Good Rockin" for years until Stu Jeffries (fantastic SK boy) took over. Then watched him on MuchMusic (when they had music). Strange Advance was an underground favorite of mine, mostly because Darryl is left-handed, as sm I. They have seriously underrated music even in Canada. They were pioneers for new wave at home!
I took the opportunity to see the band play at The Misty Moon in Halifax a couple of days( ? I think) before they were the last-minute opening act for Tina Turner at the Metro Centre. I was supposed to meet with friends at the stage left stack, but they never showed, so I stood there all night. Rumour was that they were trying the levels needed for their opening gig; all I remember was that it took over a day for my hearing to come back. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Whoa, this is the first time I've actually seen the whole music video for this song! The only other upload I've seen of it was a partial one. This is amazing. I really hope you're able to make your tour happen, BTW. Oh, and the idea of y'all being from Toronto when everyone knows you're the most important thing to come out of Vancouver is just ridiculous, LOL. Edit: who the hell "disliked" this video? Lemme know because I just want to talk.

Yes and in Quebec we also had Musique Plus which was like those two, except in French. We couldn`t complain.

Unlike many videos of the era this actually has the bassist playing a synth bass part on a synth.
Sounds like a "guitar" is also played on a synth...

... stage show... they're not really clothes. Most 80's bands had some kind of "persona" or image to be visually different.
