  • I've been daily driving my Supra for almost a year now and I've got some thoughts. If you have been thinking about buying one or just want to learn more about them this is the video for you. Below is a list of all mods as well. We are not sponsored by any of these brands but I back each product so far. In summary, I think this is an incredible car but it's not for everyone. There are compromises and you will need to make sure you can deal with them.

    Tell us why you would or wouldn't own a Supra.

      Lusting after a Supra but I can’t not have additional seats. I have an 06 E46 M3 in Interlagos blue. Wonderful engine and seats 5 w lots of trunk space.

      I guess I can’t say I wouldn’t, since I do! But I do have a daily truck, so that helps.

    The TH-cam algorith got me. I have a 2023 A91 6MT and I'll settle the debate here. Daily driver you made the right choice because the ZF8 is the best and shifts faster. Mine is a fun weekend car and the manual is so much fun and engaging. I look for excuses to drive it any moment I can. Regardless thanks for making this video. A lot of online trolls are sleeping on the MKV Supra calling it "not a real Supra". Other than the compromises you mentioned, I have plenty of smiles per gallon. Continue to enjoy your MKV

      Thanks a ton for watching and chiming in Chris! I completely agree that this car is being slept on. It only exists because of the partnership with BMW and I'm happy it exists at all. The only true issue with this car is that it has impossible shoes to fill given how legendary the MK4 became. Take the MK4 out of the equation and this is a really special car that I think will be highly sought after down the road.

      I also have an A91-MT, and I love it, but I think it's the other way around. Manual for daily driving, general driver involvement/engagement, and just all around fun. ZF 8 speed auto for a serious track build, because of the quick shifting and how it can be upgraded to hold significantly more torque.
      It's definitely being slept on by your average "enthusiasts", but it's not really slept on by the motorsports community anymore. Time attack, circuit racing, drifting, drag racing, etc. -- it's popular with all of these now. The reality is it's just quite a bit better handling than the MK4 Supra. The short wheelbase & lighter engine contributes a lot to making the car feel more nimble and exciting to drive.

      I don't know, driving in Seattle traffic makes me happy I have the auto haha. This morning was a strong reminder of that too. All your points make a ton of sense though and I love seeing the TA/FD builds. The B58 is, in my opinion, a very worthy replacement of the 2JZ. @@justsomerandomguyman

      Thank you! It's gonna stay the daily until we get this 850 fixed haha. Even though I'm not sure I trust daily driving a 32 year old V12...

    Awesome video. How would you say the eibach springs are for daily driving? Any issues with steep driveways/speed bumps etc? Thanks!

    • @autoviceofficial
      @autoviceofficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much! The springs are actually a great compromise. They are inexpensive and you get to keep the EDC of course. You do lose a little bit of comfort and I'm definitely very thoughtful of driveways now. Luckily the Supra has a fairly short nose so I can still manage some really steep stuff without issue. I keep thinking of doing coilovers but I don't know if it's worth it.

    You're in Washington state- how do you get away with not having a front license plate? Love the mods, especially the wheels. Not sure about that wing. I think the Supra needs a wing, just maybe not that one? But if you like it, that's all that matters. With a 2020, that means an unlocked ECU, so have you tuned it? No mention about infotainment. One of the big turn offs for me is the Apple Car Play only, no Android Auto unless I go the Bimmercode route. I've heard the stereo is very lack luster too. As a Daily Driver, I can see the appeal of an automatic transmission over a manual, but man, I love a manual, especially in a sports car. The manual Supra is supposed to be a magical experience. Have you driven one? Lastly, how do you like the steering wheel? It looks so bad to me compared to the rest of the car. Thanks for the video! I hope to get one of these awesome cars soon. Where did you get yours?

    • @autoviceofficial
      @autoviceofficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lots of great questions! Let me do my best to answer them all. I don't drive crazy so cops never pay me any attention. I plan on paint matching the wing at some point which I think will help but of course to each their own. I'm not 100% sure my ECU is tunable but I don't have plans to tune even though I have everything needed for stage 2. I feel the Supra is plenty fast stock and I want to drive this 100k miles or more so no need to stress things for nothing since it only sees street driving. I love the wireless Carplay but can understand that it's a bummer for Android users. Admittedly I don't use the infotainment much so I didn't talk about it. Stereo is hilariously lackluster for having two huge subs right behind you. Biggest letdown of the car honestly. My wife has a manual Corolla that I can hoon around but for my daily commute I'm very happy with the auto; haven't driven the MT Supra though...yet. Steering wheels is a joke for how special this car is. I take back the stereo being the biggest letdown haha. It's next on my mod list for sure. Thank you for watching and commenting! I bought mine down in Oregon and drove it back home the next day.

    Can you make a POV drive of the supra?

    • @autoviceofficial

      Yeah I can try to do that! What would you want to experience? Just me doing a normal drive with some exhaust sound and a view outside?
