I also find the differences in the kicks interesting. Particularly comparing, the first video to Uehara Sensei's kicks.

Kata is a training 'vehicle' to enable the practitioner to 'visualise' and perform principles and technique in solo practice (my interpretation). It follows that it will always be an individual interpretation of movement which may vary from individual to individual. You cannot make 'the fight' fit your training, you have to adapt your training to fit the fight - common sense.
On that simple basis all Kata performances should be slightly different to look at, and not like the robotic homogenous nonesense as seen in current Kata competitions.

"Robotic Homogenous Nonsense" ....I could not have said it better.

I think the first one is from an old Yamaguchi Goju Kai video

No, it's from a pre-war documentary featuring culture in Okinawa.

@@GKCgoju I thought it was from this old documentary, th-cam.com/video/q6ZEevKJjNQ/w-d-xo.html . Having re-watched it I see I was mistaken.

Muchas de las variaciones en el goju se dieron después de la muerte de sensei. Por ejemplo las shomen Geri en algunos goju la conectan en la parte inferior en cambio otros lo lanzan lo más alto que puedan.
