  • Update.. I now do this modification differently and it works even better.. see my video response below
A video to show you the Hobbyking 401 Gyro Fix.
This Gyro works very well and is very good value..
The following fix will ensure reliability and longevity..
The objective is to protect and secure all solder joints and to reinforce the wiring, making it more rigid so it does not vibrate loose in operation.
And finally, to secure the entire PC board inside the gyro case, to prevent vibration and to ensure all helicopter yaw is transferred correcting to the electronics of the Gyro..

Thank you sir very useful video, You might want to add a warning on this video to hold down the board very sturdy while pouring the hot glue in, I almost lost the unit doing this.. my board came up as I was pouring and I got glue everywhere .. lucky I was able to undo and fix the mess.

Man! Thanks a lot for this advice!!! My heli hk-450 with gyro hk-401b was allways "dancing" a little. i mean NOT a gain problem... It was jumping with a tail to the right and also to the left one time on every 3-5 sec, i checked also smooth drive of the blades. I fixed it like your gyro and not it's no tail "dance" :) Thank you!!!

I would think EvoStik Impact adhesive in the tube works just as well as very similar in consistency as hot glue, sets just like it and easier to apply!

is it possible to do this with another glue (e.g. EPP glue, witch drys not too hard)?
    Thanks for your great demonstration!

thanks for this - I ordered this for fixed wing planes- it stabilizes only 1 axis- correct? what is the purpose of head lock and why would it be needed (as opposed to normal stabilized mode)- if locked into one direction, surely at some point you would need t turn around..? thanks

what about filling it full of foam or using two-sided tape?

That would probably help too - I found the weight of the hot glue added some stability to the gyro also and tried just filling them up completely with hot glue which worked very well - Changed over to the Quark gyro for later builds though.

+Trainboy64 I just end up getting a Futaba GY520 Gyro as the reviews are rock solid unlike this HobbyKing gyro where every other reviewer don't recommend it for a helicopter.
