Seger originally thought that line was clunky when he introduced it to the band. He said he wanted to rewrite it. They all said, "Uh, no Bob, you gotta keep this in." The rest is rock n roll history.
Bob Seger is a national treasure and Detroit's #1 son! One of the best story tellers ever! From Wikipedia: A roots rocker with a classic raspy, powerful voice, Seger wrote and recorded songs that dealt with love, women, and blue-collar themes, and is an example of a heartland rock artist. He has recorded many hits, including "Night Moves", "Turn the Page", "Still the Same", "We've Got Tonite", "Against the Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Hollywood Nights", "Shame on the Moon", "Like a Rock", and "Shakedown", the last of which was written for the 1987 film Beverly Hills Cop II and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also co-wrote the Eagles' number-one hit "Heartache Tonight", and his recording of "Old Time Rock and Roll" was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. With a career spanning six decades, Seger has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012.Seger was named Billboard's 2015 Legend of Live honoree at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, held November 18-19 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. He announced his farewell tour in September 2018.
Bob Seger is one of those artists that falls into the category of "storyteller" . Much of his work takes you back to when things were simpler and more carefree.
Say my brother..his music and lyrics sink in slowly..regardless of our age...a song like this..enriches our soul and spirit Great reaction..peace out my brother
Love Seger.💜 Night Moves” Mainstreet “ Turn the Page” Only the coolest people listen to Seger in the 70’s-80’s🔥 Boy there is a lot of music to still react to 70-80’s. 👍
I have tears in both eyes watching your reaction. This song really is so touching. So accurate. Thank you. Now ....will you pretty please do Like a Rock by Bob Segar?
You know I think Bob Seger is great, but ever since my years of hearing him at work on the radio in the Charleston, SC area he became my Michael McDonald "Yamo burn this place to the ground". Excuse my 40 Year Old Virgin reference.
About time you got to Seger. And it's pronounced See-grrrr. Night moves Main Street Hollywood nights Shame on the moon Rock and roll never forgets Fire down below Beautiful loser/ ramblin man Ramblin gamblin man Fire lake You'll accompany me Roll me away And so many more. Top 3 ever AC/DC Beasties And Mr Bob Seger
"Roll Me Away" is another great song by Bob Seger. Also "Main Street." You can't go wrong with his music, all are great. Please react to Roll Me Away" when you can.. Thx for the music/reactions.
@@stevep2380 I know! If i put in on in the car, i dont want the song or the drive to end. This reactor said "This hit me in the heart," but they *all* hit you like that, he's a great storyteller and artist.
@@stevep2380 Yes they do. Especially "Against the Wind" (for me anyway). Other songs of his (like "Still the Same") remind me of people i know, but "Against the Wind" reminds me of myself and everyone else--he goes from "drifter days" to deadlines and commitments, we all do that, for sure!
Sounds like you have an ear for what we called over here in New Zealand 'west coast american music' which has a wide array of brilliant artists and bands. I would highly recommend a listen to the band called "Little Feat" with the gifted late Lowell George at the helm - "Fat man in Bathtub" , "Willin" or "Rock n Roll Doctor" are all great listens and also Linda Ronstadt singing "Blue Bayou" (the live version). Happy journey.
Hey Teez, Down on Main Street, Turn The Page, Nights Moves , and Shame on the Moon. That's 5 very well known Bob Seger songs. Saw Bob in concert in 81 , perfect performance, AMAZING PEACE BROTHER HIPPIE JOE FROM ST . LOUIS
Good for u, Teez. You have taste. Have u heard "Night Moves" yet? The quintessential Bob Seger starter song. ANYone from any walk of life I could play that big hit for and they would freaking melt. Check it out. Then u can move on to "Roll Me Away" and "Main Street".... and then another 40-50 songs. LOL. Seriously, Seger is an amazing writer and singer with a killer band, The Silver Bullet Band. Enjoy, my man, and kudos!
Good vid, Seger is a great songwriter and musician, maybe check out "Get Out of Denver", almost opposite cadence and feel from this, I still can't sing along with those lyrics he rolls 'em off so fast, another great story
Bob Seger (Pronouced "See-ger") is a really talented songwriter, who's equally adept at writing great story-telling ballads (Turn the Page; Night Moves; Main Street) as well as some real rockers (Katmandu; Get Out of Denver; Fire Down Below, etc.). Well worth digging into his catalog - you won't be disappointed!
how many rabbit holes are you planning on going down? lol. This is another huge rabbit hole my man. And one of his best, Turn The Page, was covered by Metallica, and done really well too.
"I wish I didn't know now
what I didn't know then....."
Absolutely great lines.
Seger originally thought that line was clunky when he introduced it to the band. He said he wanted to rewrite it. They all said, "Uh, no Bob, you gotta keep this in." The rest is rock n roll history.
I have told many people in my life, this line is one of the GOAT’s!
I'm still older now, but still running against the wind! Oh how true.
