Fantastic video Luke, to heavy for Huw and Elizabeth to bring back to Scotland😂. I have the Mazzer Lux D Mini grinder, it’s a noisy bugger at 5:30am, I’m always up early, got to close kitchen door so I don’t wake my wife up, life wouldn’t be worth living if that happened 😂😂. I am going to get the Pico, it just seems to be a good all round home grinder, I know there is cheaper grinders out there but I do love La Marzocco equipment. Really hope you enjoy meeting Huw and Elizabeth next week, she has messaged me to say that they will be in Coffs Harbour next week, she is going to get me some of your coffee beans to try. Once again Luke, great video and very well presented, can’t go wrong with a La Marzocco Linea Mini. Kind regards from Scotland, Johnny
Yes, mate it might put their baggage a little over on the scales ha ha! The Pico is a fantastic grinder which you will love. Unfortunately I won't be a the roastery next week as I'm away for the week :( Perhaps Huw and Elizabeth might catch Jimmy there if he's in. Tell them to ask for Rod or Ryan and they will show them around.
Great video Luke. I'm still a bit disappointed that La Marzocco keeps cutting costs. I understand that it's convenient having plastic interchangeable components, but other brands give you a multitude of portafilters. Also at that price, it would be nice if to have a plumbing kit included.
Thanks mate appreciated. I certainly wouldn't say that they are cutting costs but rather keeping the purchase cost down. Many people won't be plumbing their machine in so adding a plumbing kit into the package would mean they are paying for something they don't need. Same with the portafilters. La Marzocco have provided a fantastic solution for home users without the need of extra kitchen clutter having 3 portafilters laying around. If users decide they want different portafilters they could certainly purchase them. When you spend a bit of time using the new portafilter it's actually super user friendly and versatile. You can easily switch from using a double spout for one extraction to using the naked for your next extraction without waiting for another portafilter to heat up, like you would have to otherwise. Plus, it's nice and easy to clean :)
@@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters the linea mini is difficult to plumbing in to ordinary user, also they mention it in the user manual it is intended to use with the reservoir tank.
Hey guys! As always, your content is amazing. Thanks for keeping us engaged with coffee. That said, I’m looking for some advice. I got this set up a month or so ago. Pico and linea mini, and literally I haven’t been able to brew a great shot… I’ve tried everything, always beans with no more than 2 weeks of roasting date, mid, dark roast, etc… I suspect my issue comes from the dose… I fill the basket (21grms) with 22.5 grams but I see an indentation from the screw if I remove the portafilter before brewing the shot. Is that okay or should I lower the dose? Thanks
Hi, I was wondering why you put in 22.5g of coffee into that 21g basket? I have a 20g VST and have always put in 20g of coffee and aimed for 1:2 ration for espresso & 1:1 for ristretto. Should I experiment and use 21.5g of beans? Many thanks.
Yep, in our espresso bar we are using 21 gram baskets with a 22.5 gram dose of coffee. Definitely experiment with the amount of coffee you're dosing and see how it tastes. There's no hard fast rules with a brew recipe. It's all about creating a recipe that tastes delicious for the beans that you're using so you can repeat it time and again. Hope that makes sense :)
From Denmark - what does " filtered water" mean? Tap water here is quite good quality but perhaps a little hard (i.e. high on calcium) - is that a problem?
You certainly shouldn't be using tap water unless it's run through a filter system otherwise you will end up damaging your machine. Definitely install a good filter system into your kitchen to avoid any issues.
Really nice video. There are so many videos offering advice. As a beginner, I really appreciate the straight forward approach you’ve taken.
Thanks so much, really appreciate the feedback and glad that you enjoyed the video.
That was probably the best instructional video without being overly complicated
Glad you think so! Appreciate your feedback and thanks for watching :)
Unlike most YT content creators you make it easy to understand the coffee making process without all the extra fluff
Absolutely great video. Very helpful going through things step by step for a new user such as myself
Glad it was helpful! Cheers luke
Great vid Luke. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much, glad you liked it :)

Is the BWT jug filter is good ? If not what would you recommend to use for this machine?

Should lower the dose a bit more, and grind finer,

Thanks :)

The “R” stands for *Really Expensive*
It actually means “Riduzione dei costi”
I do pop ups solo. Could one person lift it?
