Naughty dog celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the instant classic Last of us 1 a week or so back. I wanted to revisit one of my favorite unboxing videos I've done 10 years ago
I remember going to see World War Z at the time and left the theater wanting to buy a zombie game afterwards. Didn't know anything about TLOU 1 and bought it blindly. One of the best game purchases I ever made no doubt.

I think what pulled me into TLOU even before it got released was just the mere concept of it. Sometimes there's just games where the idea is so dope that it's almost a guaranteed hit similar to how I felt before Ghost Of Tsushima dropped. Although realistically of course we know concept v reality tends to be different in the real world but yeah was dope to see a studio come good on the hype.
what pulled you into it though? It's not like the setting of tlou was something we never seen before. Even at that time. Post apocalyptic world, zombies/infected, etc
@@TheGamer2323 Yeah surprisingly it was the setting and the trailers coz they were basically promising a format we had seen before but with some depth to it. That's what always separated this game to me from all the other usual zombie trope games we had on the market. That's why I compare it to the feeling I had with Ghost Of Tsushima because Ghost Of Tsushima didn't do anything new under the sun in terms of what they were offering on paper but they basically were promising to give us something that we'd for example lacked from Assassin's Creed in some years. But yeah that's what basically drew me in. I'm a sucker for good storytelling as well so I end up leaning into games like these where you can get a good blend of both storytelling but also engaging gameplay that doesn't end up feeling like just running around aimlessly in a massive empty open world.
@@TheGamer2323 for me I remember watching that early footage of some gameplay it showed Joel beating the crap out of some soldiers I remember thinking this guy is Badass! Another thing that got my attention was that the virus in the game is actually based off a real thing except it only effects insects and bugs not humans. It just made the game so much more interesting Ended up buying the game I kid you not I literally clapped after beating it never done that for game I absolutely love the last of us one of my favorite games of all time.

I beat the last of us ps3(2014)-year after a came out. I was working at jack in the box and my coworker wouldn't shut up about it and kept talking about it every single day. I finally got the game before the remastered version came out. Man...I beaten that game in like a week. Nonstop at night.

Bro i remember it too Getting my ps3 in 2011 and playing all uncharted games and seeing TLOU at E3... got me hyped AF for this It was probably the first game preordered and bought D1 with my own money I got the Joel edition, there was also the Ellie edition Both were probably EU only Didn't had a steelbook but it came with a nice packaging comic some goodies and cost about 80€ IIRC NA tho had the apocalypse with a Joel and Ellie statue for just 160$ Part IIs special edition for 100 was abit pricey in comparison but i got it anyway
