Great review! On the recommendation of a friend, who has run in the Pro2 and Pro beta, I recently bought a pair of Pro2 at half price in the UK. I usually wear either Brooks or Saucony. My initial experience is exactly as you described. Wobbly when walking. They are a good fit and feel for me. My first run was an easy pace (8 minutes per mile) 4 mile run. A very strange running experience, but good. My next run was a half marathon in 1:39 and I loved the shoes. They felt comfortable and responsive, a really positive experience! I need to put some more miles on them, particularly long runs, before deciding whether to buy the Pro3s, but my initial experience of the Pro2 is very positive.
Cheers, Paul! You really got the full feel for the Pro 2s with the easier run being a strange experience and the fast HM being comfy and responsive! More than any other shoe i've tried, these just want to go fast! FWIW, I have been enjoying the Pro 3s bettwer than I did the Pro 2s, although I think the 3s just suit my gait a little better.
Great review! I love the looks of this shoe and how bold Mizuno is by releasing it. With that said, as a shuffling heel striker who has a bad habit of falling on a run, these shoes scare the daylights out of me 😂 I'll just admire them from afar and live vicariously through reviewers who have better mechanics than me.
To your point, I have started using a different shoe for my WU and CD miles because most race day shoes feel the way you describe, some more than others. The other issue is "using up" your race day shoes for lots of slow miles. I'd rather not do that. They add up quick! Agree that I may not be able to wrangle these for 26.2, definitely not a 2:30 marathoner either. I have the Pro 2 and the Flash 2. Love them both for out to 15-16. Also, lots of runners will blame shoes for how they "stress" their ankles, lower legs, knees, etc. It's usually a weakness in the runner that the shoe is just pointing out. I hear "that shoe just doesn't work for me all the time" Hilarious...
@@jimoconnor8597 I’m with you on not “using up” race day shoes on the wu and cd. It’s just using the wrong tool for the job! 🤣 about some shoes just pointing out weaknesses! So true!
I had the Wave Rebellion Pro 1 and I currently have the Wave Rebellion Pro 2. While I loved the look and feel of the shoes originally I had the same issue with both models, my heel felt like it was ready to completely come out of the shoe as I turned corners, which in turn gave me pain in my ankles after each run as I found myself trying to "hold on" and not lose the shoe! 😅 They also run quite neat and would recommend going up at least half a size! With that in mind I think I'll refrain from purchasing the 3rd version.. A pity is they are a phenomenal looking racing shoe! 😀 Great review as always, thanks Matt! 🏃👟
They're somewhat like a drag racer. They simply fly if you point them in a straight line, but din't deal with the turns quite as well. My ankle discomfort has disappeared after so many miles in them now. I guess they just take a bit of getting used to.
Absolutely love my pair - my favourite racing shoe since the AF1! The faster you go the more stable it gets, I'm slightly too slow for what it's designed for but still love it 😂 agree with warm up/ recovery segment of intervals being trickier in this shoe
100% agree about the Wave Rebellion Flash 2 : a terrific shoe for fast training. There is a Wave Rebellion Pro Low underway to be released globally by mid 2025. Even though it is a carbon plated shoe, It has a far less agressive geometry than the Wave Rebellion Pro 3 and is apparently to be understood as the Flash 3...
This shoe looks like a lot of fun but I'm slow so may not be the best for me or my wallett. 😂 ok so here is another creator question for you. When you run with a camera and selfie stick where you do store the cam and stick when you're not using it? Just hold it in hand?
Yes, this shoe is a lot of fun and yes, this shoe is definitely not for everyone. 95% of the time I just hold the camera/stick for the whole run. I get a lot of questions about doing this, and it's just something i've got used to.

You may be wise to steer clear but I can also say, as a runner who doesn't have the best mechanics, the WRP3 is still CRAZY FUN to run in!

Brilliant! I'm so glad to hear you're such a fan of them! You're right about them getting more stable at speed! They just want to fly!
On a positive note, Mizuno did away with the zebra print. Great review, Matt.
Thanks, Michael, but is that a positive note? That zebra print sure turned some heads!
@its_Matt_B_ I'm concerned about the number of zebras that might have been harmed in the making of those shoes.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife 🤣 I heard the zebras loved the publicity!
@its_Matt_B_ That's what social media does to the animal kingdom.
@@MyFatAdaptedLife 🤣 Exactly! Those poor animals! Our poor planet!
do we know if they are going to update the rebellion flash?? i have heard good things on the 2 but if a 3 is coming out might wait for that
I haven't heard anything about an update to the Flash 2. I was at TRE and they weren't on display at the Mizuno booth.
