William Shatner is the ONE person I would break the "never meet your heroes..." rule for. To say I'm jealous of you Tyler to meet him would be an understatement....
If you are still wondering what car Bill Shatner drove when doing Star Trek, just go back to the picture of Leonard Nimoy leaning on his Buick Riviera. The car on the left side of the picture is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. That is what Bill Shatner was driving, and it was a Fuel Injection model.
A fun fact about Sammy Hagar and Ferraris: Sammy and Eddie Van Halen both owned Ferraris, and had the same mechanic. When Van Halen was looking for a new singer to replace David Lee Roth, Eddie spotted Sammy’s Ferrari at the shop, and the mechanic encouraged him to give Sammy a call. The rest was history. 😎
I had a Star Trek moment walking around 2000 San Diego Comic Con where I ran into Walter Koenig walking towards me. I was so surprised I accidently squeaked "Walter Koenig!". He then stopped and we shook hands and had a nice time talking for a few minutes one on one. (He was dressed all in black so I was immediately reminded of his character 'Bester' in 'Babylon 5'. For those who don't read much science fiction Alfred Bester was one of the pillars of modern SF and a well known author who won the first Hugo Award in the 50's. One of his most famous works 'The Demolished Man' was about espers.
In the 90s, I had the luck to visit the warehouse that held most of GM's concept cars. It was in an industrial park south of the Warren Tank plant. Lot of cool cars and not just cars...there were body stamping molds and shelves of chrome parts. The warehouse is not there anymore.
Wrath of Khan was the first movie I saw alone, by myself. I remember being dropped off. And I remember crying when Spock died. To this day it still kills me.
You got to see the definitive Spock death in the original, theatrical version of Khan, before the added scenes they put in for the Khan re-release to set up Spock's return ahead of ST:3.
Hey Hoovie, you know you have a keeper when she still sleeps with you as an out and proud Trekkie! My baby and I met David Prowes (Rest In Peace) Thee Darth Vader! You must ALWAYS please The Queen and you get to be King!
It's incredible that W. Shatner is still getting around at his age but even more so the his mind is still so sharp! He has definitely been blessed and lived long/prospered.
William Shatner kick started the real Revolution for sci-fi genre before Star Trek is the original series it was a B series but there was no real movies that were outside of B-Movie genre until Star Trek brought it mainstream a decade after the series
Im the one that tried to sell the Ferrari 575 on Bring a trailer few months ago and it brought $125k. I tried to tell the owner (dealer) to cut it loose because of all the comment section wripping on EAG but he wanted to gamble at Barret Jackson and i can tell you that he lost $100,000 with that sale. He ended up buying the ferrari testerossa that was at the auction which i think sold for retail so yeahh pretty crazy.
So cool, a fellow fan that had to just be amazing. Also regarding your humor, it is totally PG style, look at all the jokes they sneak into animated movies... you are fine Tyler.
Tyler it's good to see you having your moment on National TV with the Shat man. That was a good one take thing. The problem I see with the gated shifters in the future is ... Will this generation of millionaires be willing to learn how to actually drive a manual gas operated car in the future with all the Electric Automatic driving that is bound to happen. LORD I hope I am wrong. Great job with the sharing of the hosting this time and the last few times I have watched. I like it.
Better you talking to Shatner than me because I would have brought how he has come a long way from Kingdom of the Spiders and living out of the back of his truck. Sammy had some great songs when he was with Montrose. Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter and Space Station #5 were great early work.
My Austin Healey Bugeye is so much more of a "chick magnet" than any Porsches, Ferraris, or Lamborghinis I've driven. It is so true that those are dude magnets. Out of those Lambos do the best!!
I grew up with Captain Kirk as my hero as a child. He never disappoints. I enjoyed your version of the dream meeting with Bill. I want one of my own lol
Being that its Halloween most folks dont realize that Bill Shatner is literally the "face" of Halloween as the folks that made the movie in 1978 used a mask of Captain Kirk that they modified slightly & made it into the iconic one we see Michael Myers wearing ✌💖☮
I remember seeing Dr George Fischbeck as a teen. The late Dr of Weather on KABC Los Angeles was a celebrity weatherman. Unfortunately the networks will not hire anybody like him today but his extensive knowledge of weather and climate an advocacy for taking care of the Earth he was among the first to warn about global warming or which is now climate change.
