I agree! I really like the item choices in this arcade version. Even though most aren't really used in competitive play, the variety is nice to have. Sometimes with my friends we like to use the least optimal setup just to play around!
It's the same game, however heavily modified. The Japanese version is quite frankly better in all aspects. The ability to save your data, progress through storymode, choose your own weapon / kart / character. Play online, you name it.
You played the DEMO version of the game. To play the FULL game, you either need to fly to Japan, or download the game itself along with another app. (NVidia or AMD graphics card required)

However, outside of Japan, there is no card system (sadly). You are stuck with there random kart roulette and are unable to save your data.
