  • We all know about Roland, Alesis, and Yamaha. But that's just the surface. There's an ocean of other electronic drum brands based in Asia. Today we're taking a look at the other side of the electronic drum iceberg.

    Hi Justin, I'm from Malaysia and have been a long-time follower of your channel. Just thought you might want to know a lil more about the Sudoku drums. The rubber cymbals, drum modules, and pads are essentially OEMs from China and are essentially the same as the Lemons brand just marketed for Malaysians.
    They market it here mostly for those who can't really read/speak Chinese, do all of the guesswork, and provide general support so that we don't have to deal with anyone from China.
    Hope that helps, have a great one!

    What is impressive is how many different iterations of this same drum brands and models you can find at different 3rd world countries. I have a hXm module, but here is called PowerDrums, with slightly different pads than in 3:54. I've seen the exact same module with like 2 other different names in neighbor countries of LATAM.
    Funny enough this happens with motorcycles or electric scooters for example. I used to have a copy of a Yamaha motorcycle called VX-250: In Venezuela it's Keeway, in argentina it's Zanella, in peru it's Skygo and in and in Chile it's Lifan (The original name).
    It seems that they have like 1 or 2 factories that build circuits, shells, engines, parts, etc and on demand and then different Joint Venture Capitalists request parts and build their own thing out of their minds like legos.

      @65Drums  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think I've ever come across PowerDrums. It really is amazing the number of drums and cymbals that are all rebranded HXM and Medeli parts. But I also run across stuff that does look unique. Maybe not good, but unique to that company.

    Those Lemon cymbals have really helped me keep the cost down on my a2e kit...They work great,they come in great sizes and also they have 1 year guarantee so if they break i can replace them...On a kit as large as mine,if i was to get Roland or ATV cymbals i d go bankrupt

    There are two brands that I didn't see in the video that are being sold here in my country, Perú, NU-X and avatar, the second one seems to be something out of medeli or a copy of some alesis drumsets, but NUX is a brand that has very good modules and sounds and also a good competitor to Roland (double zone pads, cymbals with choke or 3 zones)

      Yeah I like his channel too, I'm a subscriber. I like my lemon cymbals, but I'm worried about long term durability of the Lemon pads. The way the trigger foam is placed for the internals doesn't scream "this will last 10 years" to me. But who knows

    one ridiculous thing in China is the most popular Roland model is still TD-11, an almost 10-year old product, and dealerships are trying hard to promote them because they can get the most profit out from it...

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's my understanding Roland doesn't even manufacture that set anymore. So maybe they just have piles of extra drum sets to get rid of, and they decided China was the country to off-load them? Who knows?

    Do a Carlsbro CSD120M review...
    The module sounds alone are on par with Alesis Nitro module. Pads on par with Roland.
    It’s has very usable double choke and is cheap enough to buy 2 and expand.

      @@65Drums maybe they made tweaks since then….In a head to head the sounds are on par with Nitro. Carlsbro was better due to more effective crosstalk canceling. Pads nearly identical to Roland.
      Perhaps could be covered in a “best portable kits for the money” review.
      Trickle down tech…stunning what you can get today for very little. We are using this in Studio snd getting passable results.
