Thank you for this! I'm only starting on drawing humans seriously and I really needed this haha. I hope you can make a video about drawing hair someday -- if you haven't already that is! -- oh and maybe a video about choosing skin tone as well -- again, if you haven't already haha.
Thank you for not using a thirst trappy thumbnail, I'm a bit sick of drawing coaches always using hypersexualised imagery to draw clicks, I know it works, but refreshing when someone doesn't do it. This is such a great vid
It helped me a lot to do studies on the collarbone/how it moves with different poses, because it flows into that neck hollow and those tendons/muscles in the front of the neck.
Woah this is so simple. All the other videos just told me what to do and didn’t explain how, why and what we needed it for. This one did all of that in a way that my brain could actually process and understand. This is heaven sent.
Marc: Use your elbow to draw circles. Me: Doubt it'll make a difference but I'll try... *Draws perfect circle* Now not only am I improving on drawing but I can now draw perfect circles. Thanks Marc!
I think I just drew a good side profile. Genuinely over the moon at how my drawings turned out. I’ll have to use these methods for my future drawings, it’s a big help!
I'm SO bad at step 1. Thanks for this video. That jaw drawing example is going to help me a great deal i think. I need to just start with a couple straight lines and add curve after only if needed! You're a great teacher! Keep it up.
Marc: I'm going to draw a simple head Me: You call that a simple head? It looks better than my best attempt! lol, thanks for the tutorial, as always, Marc! Appreciate your guidance and time!
Honestly your vids are perfect for learning how to draw digitally, so many other videos have too much fluff or expect you to know a lot already or just waste time.
1. Take your pencil. 2. Draw a circlish line very lightly. 3. Make adjustments to it (lightly) where it doesn't look right until it starts to. 4. Pick a line that looks best out of the mess you have on your paper and trace it. Boom, you have a decent circle. Nobody said it must be a single motion.
New sub. Thank you so much for putting this content out. I realize this video is two years old, so I don't know if you will see the comment or not, but this is incredibly useful. Straight forward and to the point. I recently bought myself a wacom one, and clip studio. I had been wanting to devote more of my life to art, and I finally have time on my hands. I was deterred from drawing for a long time, due to a brain injury I have tremors that make line work very difficult, but the technology and stabilization tool solve that for me quite well. You're helping an old guy catch up on years of skills he miss out on. I'm going to absorb as much of your content as possible. Watch video, then try it out, then repeat.
tried doing the part at 4:15 and he makes it sound and look easier than it is, it could be better demonstrated with a box, but getting this wrong and you end up with a wonky head structure
Marc I'm convinced you're some kind of mind reader. I was gearing up to try and improve my heads yesterday - and here you are! I'll definitely be doing the exercise, can't wait to see how much it helps!

I'm 25 y.o and always wanted to learn how to draw, but I've been delaying it because I thought I was too old for learn. With your videos I saw that is about practice and patience hahahah I started my journey today and will register my drawings for now on to see my evolution! Thank you again for the great work o/
I swear my art quality usually drops when I use guidelines like this. Not just that, but I also tend to draw the face, or at least the eyes&nose before drawing the head to match. Well, for the sake of gaining some consistency I'll keep headbutting this wall till something breaks.
lets hope you break the consistency wall instead of your head!!! all jokes aside its admirable that you're trying a different method! i also work the way you do, but then all my features get kind of weird in proportion >.

I tend to make male characters have longer eyelashes because of this fact. If the girl is wearing makeup though she may have massive eyelashes
Men's eyes are usually set deeper in the skull and, as a result, the upper eyelid looks more hooded, which makes the eyes and eyelashes look smaller compared to the rest of the face. Women's faces tend to be smaller, the eyes are set less deep and the eyebrow ridges aren't as pronounced which makes the eyes look bigger in proportion to the face. Can you do a tutorial about hair? I can see the shapes you use but i can't understand how you lump them together to make them look good.
he just did :)
@@mackenner956 that he did. And with flying colors too

Add three lines. To know where to place them, simply apply the quadratic formula times the width and height of the face multiplied by PI
Aww. When I read the comments after these (freakin' awesome) videos, I feel like I'm learning and growing in a class with everybody...
:')
Damn

Finally TH-cam is working on It's peak. Hat's off to Marc. A savior for people like us who are freakingly broke af to buy any courses. ❤
Man Marc, i just have to say, you're such a great help with these video's, it's just amazing. Learning cool stuff by the minute here. Many thanks!
Just what I needed, perfect! Hey Marc could you do a video on connecting the head and torso, I am finding it really difficult heh
Have you tried the necc?
Lol no sorry-
It helped me a lot to do studies on the collarbone/how it moves with different poses, because it flows into that neck hollow and those tendons/muscles in the front of the neck.
just Peachy you snarky mo fo... I thought the exact same thing and came to the comment section just to confirm that I am not alone in Snarkiness lol

I've been watching your videos lately because I am a novice and I want to learn how to draw, I find your videos really helpful, thanks for everything.
11:36, So from here We're just gonna add the Hair, Boom !
Me : ...
Woah this is so simple. All the other videos just told me what to do and didn’t explain how, why and what we needed it for. This one did all of that in a way that my brain could actually process and understand. This is heaven sent.
I was just about to practice drawing faces then this came to my recommended. Thanks!
There are a LOT of face-drawing videos out there, but this one helped me the most. THANKS.
Marc: Use your elbow to draw circles.
Me: Doubt it'll make a difference but I'll try...
*Draws perfect circle*
Now not only am I improving on drawing but I can now draw perfect circles. Thanks Marc!
Love your videos! Thank you for making them. I haven’t drawn since i was a child and now I’m almost 40 i am rediscovering the joy it brings!

Thanks it helped me alot.
I think I just drew a good side profile. Genuinely over the moon at how my drawings turned out. I’ll have to use these methods for my future drawings, it’s a big help!
Thank you! This was very helpful, my friend and I want to create a sort of series, book and anime. This helped get me a head start!🎉
GET IT \*KNEE SLAP*/
@@back.6215 I'm confused

You teach so well, I'm so happy I'm making more progress with the faces now❤
Others: Your circle must be perfect
This guy: It's ok that your circle is not perfect
We did it ladies and gentlemen. Circleism is no more
I'm SO bad at step 1. Thanks for this video. That jaw drawing example is going to help me a great deal i think. I need to just start with a couple straight lines and add curve after only if needed! You're a great teacher! Keep it up.
No one:
Artists when the discover this channel (and see how he fixed eye drawing): 👀 Master...
thank you !! ugh this helped so much now I’m so much better

always come back to basics baby !
Why did you switch the directions!!!! I was like I'm getting this then *boom* he went from drawing character looking to let to looking right 😭😭😭😭
I'm gonna keep practicing this, but the improvement in my characters facial structure from my freehand method to this structure was instantaneous
0:22 man I swear to God you literally said that right after I hit the subscribe button and it's scary
This gotta be the most useful and spectacular video on how to draw faces on this style!!!
Who is in 2024
this is really what i was looking for, i swear this is the easiest tut of all i have ever seen. Thank you!!!
Marc: *draws a circle and curve...
Me: *sweating already "what are my hands for?"
This is essentially the Loomis method, but you explain it in a way that's easier to understand.
Marc: I'm going to draw a simple head
Me: You call that a simple head? It looks better than my best attempt!
lol, thanks for the tutorial, as always, Marc! Appreciate your guidance and time!
Honestly your vids are perfect for learning how to draw digitally, so many other videos have too much fluff or expect you to know a lot already or just waste time.
ok but why would you just change the direction of the faces halfway through
For me, this makes it more enjoyable to draw heads and faces at different angles. Thanks Marc!
there is always that one little thing that makes my drawing look like absolute shit and yours good... the damn eyes.
I absolutely love the FFX soundtrack at the end. Thank you for not only the incredibly well made video, but the nostalgia trip at the end
I'll tackle this when I can draw a decent enough circle first.
Eh, just start it.
Trust me, you are the one who stresses the most about them.
So have you?

"Easy"
Yeah sure, when you're already an experienced artist
Marc, you're a G! You have my heartfelt appreciation homie. Love from South-Africa.
tried doing the part at 4:15 and he makes it sound and look easier than it is, it could be better demonstrated with a box, but getting this wrong and you end up with a wonky head structure
Marc I'm convinced you're some kind of mind reader. I was gearing up to try and improve my heads yesterday - and here you are! I'll definitely be doing the exercise, can't wait to see how much it helps!
Him:"you cant draw a face without drawing the head first"
Is it weird that i draw the face first then draw the head😂😂😂
Starting a drawing faces personal challenge and you’re my first video! Thanks!
or you can follow my fool proof method of drawing faces:
step 1: draw a circle
step 2: draw the whole damn face
Thank you. Now I can draw a face🥺
Reverse those steps for spongebobs methods of making a circle
@@mattmaillet1186 I like this lesson more, thank you.

Hey Marc, Thank you so much for your videos and for making in on youtube! I definitively will do the Art School in the Future!
I'm 25 y.o and always wanted to learn how to draw, but I've been delaying it because I thought I was too old for learn.
With your videos I saw that is about practice and patience hahahah
I started my journey today and will register my drawings for now on to see my evolution!
Erika Yang the same with me 😭
yoo i thought i was the only one damn
ME TOO I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. When I use guidelines like these it just looks worse
what th-cam.com/video/MohOPI5Q1TA/w-d-xo.html
Oh my... You have totally change my life with that >> trick for the eyes
Dude why did you make me start with one head angle and jump to another outta nowhere i was so lost! Thanks for nothing
he just rotate it...
Your style is my favorite
would have been much easier to follow without the whole mirroring thing. that kinda threw me out of concept while following you as a complete beginner drawing faces.
you're such a good teacher !
Idk why but I just cannot for the life of me draw the eyes
