Atheism: The Belief There is NO God Part 2

- The purpose of this video is simple:
To argue that atheism would be best understood as the philosophical understanding, ‘belief there is no god’. Asserting that it’s just a lack of belief in a god pushes the goal post down that would still lead to the most optimal definition being the belief there is no god.
What a laughable attempt to flip the burden of proof
This comment proves what I stated 😂🤣
@@JonathanCOwens Your claim is that atheists hold a belief and are making a claim that God doesn't exist correct? How does that hold up when you have groups of people who have never even heard of the concept of a god? Are they not atheists or are they? They objectively don't believe in a god because they have no concept of it.
Lacking a belief in something isn't a claim. Saying something does exist is a claim that needs to be investigated and supported by evidence. A rock lacks a belief in a god, is that rock now making a claim a god doesn't exist? Ridiculous no matter how you look at it.
@@JonathanCOwens so intellectually dishonest
If you believe that...
@@JonathanCOwens I do ❤️
Definitions change over time, and the intellectual definition can often be different from the colloquial societal definition.
This is especially true for the word “atheism.” While you may be correct in its word structure, a matter in which I don’t care at all, it bares no resemblance on the way the word is used in practice.
If the word atheism is used to describe someone who lacks a belief in god, and that’s an area of society that someone wishes to associate with, then who cares.
You’re honestly arguing a non-point, as this isn’t really a pressing issue, and most people aren’t arguing over definitions. We just want you to prove your god is real. Until then, I withhold my belief in it. And whether that position means I’m a hard atheist, a soft atheist, or just an agnostic doesn’t really matter. It’s my stance no matter how you want to define it.
I like how I addressed this in the video🤣
@@JonathanCOwens saying you addressed it in the video does not mean your “addressing” of such was very compelling.
I stated I don’t care what you call yourself and arguing for philosophical usage.
@@JonathanCOwensyour intro that includes part one would contradict such a statement. Along with the title of the video🤣
@@JonathanCOwensif you truly didn’t care what people called themselves then you wouldn’t be making multiple videos attempting to explain how wrong everyone is🤣
JCO, this is not difficult:
Doubt does not equal belief
Skepticism does not make declarative statements
And if you're going to be intellectually consistent, then taking your stance means every God that YOU don't believe in, means you are saying that God is not real.
You do get that don't you?
What are you even addressing?
@@JonathanCOwens You do take the stance that all atheists are hard atheists (there are no Gods), don't you? That's what your video description asserts.
😂when I said that?
@@JonathanCOwens A hard atheist is someone who believes there are no Gods. Not only is that in your description, but a quick look at your other posts clearly confirms that's what you think atheists actively believe, regardless of whether they tell you otherwise
You also seem to be a Christian, so if you're going to be intellectually honest, then you must hold yourself to the same belief standards you hold atheists.
That means you actively believe all other Gods are false, except for the one you believe in, and I'd like you to explain why you believe that about those Gods, but not yours.
Welp. You never watched the video😂. I addressed the hard and soft atheist.
Atheists have beliefs but claiming that atheism itself is a belief is ridiculous. Suppose you have someone that has never heard of the concept of a god (There are tribes that have never held a god belief). Is that person atheist? Are they truly claiming anything or have they just never even conceptualized it as a possibility? Many have done exactly what you're doing here and it just doesn't hold up to the slightest scrutiny.
Slight addition to add. It's impossible to prove something doesn't exist. What would count as evidence for a unicorn's nonexistence? There shouldn't and wouldn't be any evidence if it truly doesn't exist.
Therefore, not believing a claim isn't a claim in and of itself.
Edit: Satanists btw, don't actually believe in and worship satan. They just use the name Satan. It upsets christian nationalists and showcases their desire to keep out other religions in favor of their own.
🤦I addressed atheism is best to be know as a belief and the different of not believing and believing not in the main video.
I haven't seen you address this at all. My proposal is that "not believing" and "believing not", as you call it, are indeed the same thing. A lack of belief.
You can describe the unicorn all you want. That doesn't mean I need to justify my disbelief with any proof. There wouldn't be any evidence if it doesn't exist. That's asking for the impossible.
You think believing not and not believing is the same?
@@JonathanCOwens I don't see a distinction between the two. You can't believe something you're not convinced of.
Example: Flat earthers don't believe the earth is round. You could also say they believe the earth isn't round. Either way, they aren't really making a claim. They are rejecting a positive claim.
The positive claim they do make is in saying it is flat.
Nobody has a god belief until it is forced upon them. Then they catch you with the threat of hell if you stop believing. They do it to children.
How did the first human have a god belief if it was forced upon them?
@@JonathanCOwens A first human? How was there a first human?
You said nobody has a god belief until it is forced upon them. I’m asking you how did the first person who believed have a god belief if it was forced.
@@JonathanCOwens What first person? There was no "first person".
Primitive people had no idea how things happened. How the sun rose every morning without fail. They couldn't understand that, so they used fantasy to explain it. It's basic superstition.
People aren't born with a belief..they get that from their parents.
//People aren't born with a belief..they get that from their parents.//
I mean nobody is born knowing anything.
//They couldn't understand that, so they used fantasy to explain it. It's basic superstition. //
That is a claim, but this goes against your initial point. /Nobody has a god belief until it is forced upon them./
lul
Oof
After Years of Study i came to the realisation that theres actually only one destinction beetween the Words Theism and Atheism.
Its the letter A !
But what does it mean?
In an ancient language ,only smartasses speak : !!!Alpha privativum!!!
Its an ancient spell the negates the wordsteam of the word that follows it, which in this case is Theism.... or in lamemans term: WithoutTheism
So to find the Truth a wise man suggested the solution to this ancient mistery can be found in a book called Dictionary.
One must search for the definition of the common denomenator The mighty wordstam connecting both terms on Atheism/Theism.
THY NAME IS THEISM
ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH TO RESEARCH IT YOURSELF?
Go on this Quest mighty Warrior of Truth
*my stupid ass isnt an english native speaker so pardon me for strange wordings
Creative. But I addressed the A- already.
@@JonathanCOwens Could you timestamp that?
It’s in the original video with time stamps.
@@JonathanCOwens Part 1?
There are no Timestamps
Whats the title of the "Original" Video?
@ichsehsanders it’s actually just the title. You can check the channel. It’s the recent one.
I agree but, apparently, this puts the burden of proof onto the atheist.
How?
@JonathanCOwens According to theists, if you say ther is no god you have to prove there's no god. They really do, it's amazing. I'm still waiting for proof of no unicorns or leprechauns.
I mean if you make a claim, it should be reasonable for you to show proof
@@JonathanCOwens Indeed.
