Please watch Rui Costa's most recent Interview, Enzo wanted to leave, Benfica did everything to keep him, but ultimately you cant keep a player that doesnt love the club, they even tried a Deal where Chelsea pays way less for Enzo and we can keep him more 6months, Enzo wanted to go now, we did everything and he took a piss on benfica, so go away Enzo, he's not welcome

As a Benfica fan, I am gutted about how this panned out. At the end of the day, no player is bigger than the club. So I'm not too mad about Enzo's departure. At the end of the day, we are getting 82m out of the 120m transfer fee (RP has 25% future fees & 6.5% agent fees), which is not bad at all. Even though Enzo in my opinion, was probably our best player, that's not what I'm frustrated about. Im frustrated with the fact that we put ourselves in a position to not be able to get a replacement for him. In hindsight, the deal didn't change much in the last few days. Chelsea was offering 120m (however not activating the release clause) and offering to pay in 6 installments. This was never what we wanted. Our president Rui Costa was always dead set on having to activate the release clause or nothing. Chelsea ofc didn't want this, as it would force them to pay us in a large sum, not installments. However, having accepted the deal in the last hour of the window. It just really annoys me because that was the worst-case scenario for all Benfica fans. We lost our best player, and we put ourselves in a position where we couldn't get a replacement. If I knew that in the end we were gonna accept, I wish we did it sooner so we could've gotten a player like Kokcu (our main transfer target replacement for Enzo) or smth. It's just a shame that we were on record to have a record-breaking season, and it feels like it's all crumbling down. (Not the first time as a Benfica fan in the last decade). To conclude, In Rui Costa we trust. Even though I don't agree with his decision today. I love him as our President as he really represents the values of the club and I am excited about his long-term project. On the other hand, this one definitely stung a bit and I'm sure Benfica fans would agree.

The thing that surprises me the most, other than his obvious talent, is his bold personality, he walks into any team and feels no pressure what so ever, walked into Argentina's starting 11 and it felt like he was always there, you can even feel how his teammates felt like they knew him for years, and he played less than 5 games with the national team, he did the exact same thing with Benfica, River Plate and Defensa y Justicia.

Lost a lot for Enzo, being offered the chance to sign for Chelsea but stay with us on loan til the summer to continue to help the team but he just wasn't interested. One of those players who pass the eye test with ease and their stats blow you away even more.
    His scouting report is UNREAL.
And when I say no one, I mean no one comes close to Enzo's profile.

Chelsea is going to be a force if Potter gets it right. I love the players and the mentality but I have been questioning Potter's decision-making myself. Lately the games look dull and disorganized until the second half when changes have been made and they start actually getting the ball at other peoples feet other than Thiago Silva.

Sorry but Potter is not good enough for Chelsea ambitions.
No sign of improvement, still insist on the same tactics, keep trying with a player who don't know how to score more than 15 goals in one season as a striker and leaving the only striker that has on the bench.
Aubameyang is not at his best but he knows how to score goals.

@Davis Cook Were you worried about Potter when he did the double over Milan? Potter got shafted by injuries, and that's not an excuse. We lost our best players in positions that are near irreplaceable. This squad at its best, AT ITS BEST, finished 19pts off the top. -19pts! We are 21pts off Arsenal with ±10 players out injured, or returning. Knee cap that many of the first team at any club in top division and there form will dip. Potter will come good. He took a squad that looked lost under Tuchel for months, bar a few games here & there, and gave them new life prior to injury crisis. I swear Chelsea fans have less faith than atheist.

He made one hell of a partnership with Florentino in midfield for Benfica, so I'm interested to see what he does with Kanté next to him. Both guys are tackle and interception monsters and that will free up Enzo to do what he does best. Honestly i've always liked Enzo more than any other young midfielder, and yes, even more than Bellingham, don't get me wrong, Bellingham is GREAT, but if you give me 200 million to buy either of them, i would pick Enzo, because he has a really rare personality, that type of player that will perform no matter where he is, what is he playing, against who is he playing, he just doesn't care and only wants to play football, he really doesn't have that ''shame'' that some players have when they first walk into a team, he has a pretty bold personality and can walk into any locker room, even into a locker room with Messi, Di Maria, Dybala in it and treat them like his life long best buddies, and i'm not the one saying it, Messi himself has said it.
I trust Enzo, he seems like a real baller, and has this special thing in him that you can't describe, overall one of the wonderkids that football has to offer.

It is as though we have accepted our role to be the (expensive) “satellite” club for those clubs in more appealing leagues. The wage imbalance makes it the only obvious strategy. Even if a player loves Benfica, the league and Portugal as a place to live, the wages on offer in the EPL (and La Liga to a lesser extent) are just too much to resist. Portugal is a small market and there's a limit to how much the clubs, even if run really well (which, let's be honest, has not always been the case), can pay. That's not even getting into things like image rights, marketability for sponsorships and so on. It's very sad - as a Liverpool supporter I've always enjoyed our ties with Benfica in Europe, fantastic fan culture home and away. I'd dearly love to go back to the days when the likes of Ajax, Benfica or Crvena Zvezda - historic clubs from smaller markets - could keep their players and credibly compete. CL is just not the same as the old European Cup without that patchwork of great clubs from all over the continent.

As a Benfica fan I think Chelsea was distespectful. If Chelsea really wanted him they should've sealed the deal before the last day of the market. Now benfica loses a key piece of the starting 11 which was the 9th best team in the world before he left

Subbed Chelsea fan. Every club he's gone to hes won cups. It could be our year again for champion league if Enzo gets us the champion league will be shocked! Enzo is born winner with hidden talent. The signings Chelsea owners have done we can go again!

No way you're winning the CL this year while gelling all these new signings together/somehow figuring a way out to keep everyone happy with minutes. This isn't FIFA mate. Should probably focus on making sure you get back in the top 4 so this doesn't all implode on you as soon as this summer.

Can you do a video on the Nicolo Zaniolo situation at Roma? I genuinely don't understand how he's on the out this bad with both the fans and the club.

As much as I would like to say that Enzo will flop at Chelsea, I know that he won’t.
In fact I can nearly guarantee that he’s going to be one of the main reasons why they turn their season around and push for the top four.
He is a big loss for Benifca and as I have posted on other TH-cam channels, Reddit and other benfica podcast’s, the most annoying part is not finding an adequate replacement in time since we sold him so late.
We just hope that Aursnes, Florentino and Chiquinho stay healthy and are able to rotate in the midfield.
Especially Aursnes since I believe he will take over the #8 role

There's no other club than Chelsea that would pay that much for a player with such little track record. That's why Benfica would accept the offer. Waiting could realistically reduce his sale fee if more of Europe get in on the bidding the following summer and the player prefers one of the lass lucrative options.
Also the stats don't support the notion Enzo was the best player at River or Argentina. The fact that Mac Allister, the better Argentina mid, is priced 25-40M is worth considering. The open market rate would have been much lower if he didn't come in through the Portuguese pipeline like all the Liverpool strikers.

It's a good deal for both benfica & Chelsea. nice profit for them & Chelsea have secured a top midfeilder for a decade.

From my understanding it did turn out to be release clause. Maybe someone knows better but my understanding is that Chelsea paid over the odds to pay a 3rd party to front the money but will be paying off the interest on that hence it appears to be paid in installments. Chelsea is paying off the transfer in installments but benfica receives a lump sum. This is speculation but I saw some other benfica fans saying this and I'm curious if it's just fake news being spread to placate the fanbase.
