Thanks so much for watching and for your amazing feedback! 🤗 I absolutely loved my time in The Gambia! The next episode in The Gambia series (VLOG 3): th-cam.com/video/WWCWb-N2o08/w-d-xo.html VLOG 1: th-cam.com/video/SGiIIaELw4o/w-d-xo.html
Yh sure I would have liked it if u didnt take the local side of our country, like sup with u pple u come here take only our bad places then do a video thinking it's cool, why didnt u take a video of senegambia, kanifing, brusubi, bijilo,or fajara...lady please
I think it's awesome that you guys travel with no boundaries! You guys definitely travel in the un-touristy types of places and I think it's a great thing! It gets us viewers to see a different type places that most tourist will not visit! Keep being unique and keep up the great work on sharing your world adventures!! BTW - Glad you made it safely to your lodge, good thing you didn't get lost at night.
First I would like to commend your cinematography! The footages were rightly picked and everything was taken so smoothly and of course, the color grading.. they’re all great. It’s almost like watching a film. Second, thank you for showing us Gambia, it brings a mixture of emotions.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It really did put a smile on my face. I spent a lot of time putting this video together. I wanted to capture The Gambia just as I saw it and try to portray the feelings I felt too. I take it you have been to The Gambia before then?
I've been to the Gambia for 15 years of my life and I'm only 16 haha it's such a nice place and full of life and evreryone is so happy beside the lack in material wealth
It's funny how places look so similar yet so different. I keep seeing some similarities with Kenya then differences and keeps going on and on. Love how empty the beach was. Looks like you had a lot of fun in spite of the scorching heat. Getting lost is all part of the game when travelling haha.
I wish I could be as brave as you guys to drive around in a place like this. As you said, it's definitely more freeing. Such a cool, raw area. The beach looked like an awesome time.
You've really smashed it with this series Ella, every episode is so good! I think its great that you guys always choose to drive, you're right - it gives you that ultimate freedom (and that sweet car window b-roll). The beach looks so untouched and raw, but 40 degree is mental haha. The lodge looks amazing, perfect place to get back to after a day of travelling around. On another note, I'm loving the colour grade and sound design you've done on this series, well done!
Thanks a bunch 🙌 I tried to focus a lot more on storytelling and cinematics in this series. I found out that Final Cut has more colour grading options than I initially realised haha 😂
@@OneShotAdventures I use adjustment layers to apply the colour grading so I can then stretch that over a segment of clips instead of adding effects one by one. I only just realised that there are options for colour wheels and colour curves and this has changed my life 😂
Thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed it. Yes, I am definitely going to explore more of Africa. I actually just got back from Senegal 🇸🇳 You can see my first video on Senegal here 👉 th-cam.com/video/x8K-B_0_Fog/w-d-xo.html
this is so epic! i really had fun watching this! nice shot with the "No Stress" van! Nice HD video quality, the slowmo, the colours...amazing! i'm a fan!
Sounds like you definitely had a small little adventure! The African countries is still on my todo list and content like this helps gives me a sense of what’s it like 😊Loving the epic slow mo!
I'm glad you liked my singing! The child with the stick really was hating as he saw me rolling ;) Thank you very much for the kind comment! I'm happy to have hit such a great milestone. Not long till you hit 2k!
Thank god you guys found back to the lodge - no google maps? 😄 again a beautiful video. Awesome that the lodge grows their own veggies and herbs! I’d spend the whole day with the doggo!
Loved that you ignored the advice and just thought fuck it! We'll get the rental car. Sometimes you've got to do that. I find it almost always pays off as well haha. Getting lost is where all the fun is had as well :) you got to see far more of the local area that way. As always, this was amazing. Look forward to the next one! And congratulations because I'm pretty sure you've just got 1000 subs now. Woop!
Haha, yeah! When people tell me to do something, I normally do the opposite 😝 It definitely payed off. I find sitting in the back of a taxi just doesn't have the same exciting experience as driving yourself or co-driving. I love how you can just choose exactly where you want to go and stop whenever you want. Yes, I loved getting lost (as weird as that sounds). We saw local Gambia life which we may not have seen otherwise 😁 Well spotted - I hit 1k on Saturday. I'm so happy! Now I'm in the k club! Won't be long till you hit 4k now.
@@EllaMcKendrick haha exactly! Travel can be really boring, stale and mundane if you don't push your boundaries and step outside the comfort zone. And a huge achievement :) well done! Just keep on creating and building!
Ella in Wanderlust I’m looking forward to see your other videos it’s so inspiring and your way of speaking it’s awesome 👏 I’m also living in Europe currently
This is what I am talking about for a laid back beach experience. You always get really good accommodations. Good use of pacing during the vlog with the different slow mo shots and quick transitions it kept the vlog interactive and exciting! Congrats on hitting 1k subs too well deserved!
Wow so many great animal sounds near your pad. Were you not able to swim at the super hot beach??? Great that you had it almost to yourselves. Haha, just a bit of a driving detour from the beach. I'm guessing no road signs??? At least it was daylight. Thank goodness for satellite mode! Dinner sounded great. How was it?
We could have swam on the beach but I wasn't sure where to put my camera gear. Always an issue, haha! There weren't any road signs in such a remote village. It's so remote that Google doesn't even realise there are roads there!
Hey there Ella! Amazing vlog, love the edit and the epic b-rolls! Oh gosh, I'll be freaking out if google maps is not working, glad you found your way back. Lovely video! 😄
Thanks so much! I don't know how I keep calm in these situations tbh. We were just in such a remote area that google maps thought there were no roads haha! Lucky for satellite view ;) I also love how you can use it whilst offline if you make sure to load it up properly when you have internet.
I’m glad you were able to get to and from the beach safely. I’m also glad driving there wasn’t too bad! Which area did you stay in? And how did you find your accommodations?
We stayed just outside of a town called Gunjur. It was a lovely location! I found the accommodation through a google search for "eco-lodges" as I love to visit eco-friendly places :)
Is this the same lizard that you saw in previous part? Really like how you start the video with look back on the last one. Didn't really understand, how did you find your way home at the end?
Sadly that isn't the same lizard. I know you're dying to see him! He does however make an appearance in the next video :) Basically Google maps has a few views. On 'default' which is what I always use for navigating, it didn't think there were any roads where we were. Eventually I decided to put roaming on and load up satellite view which fortunately showed the roads (although again it didn't realise they were roads) but I was able to use that to get us home.
Puppies make vlogs better! Did all the birds chirp through the night or did they go to sleep while you were trying to sleep? I love, love fresh fish! How long were you lost when trying to make it back from the beach? Liked how you had the background noise underneath the music on some of your b-roll 👍
The birds went to sleep whilst we did (fortunately) but singing frogs and crickets went on throughout the night. I'm not sure how long we were lost for, from memory. Somewhere between half an hour and an hour I'd guess :)
You will be fine by jst speaking english cos the Gambia was colonial by the British so they learn English an speak it in schools but senegal was a French colony that why they speak french
