Naomi and Elimelech leave Israel in search of a better life in Moab. While there, their two sons marry Moabite women, Orpah and Ruth. However, after just a few years, tragedy strikes, and Naomi is left alone with her two daughters-in-law following the deaths of her husband and sons.
When Naomi decides to return to Israel, Ruth chooses to stay by her side. In Israel, Ruth's character catches the attention of Boaz, who exercises his right of redemption and marries her. In God's sovereign plan, Ruth becomes the great-grandmother of King David, and from her lineage, the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ, would one day be born.

Lyrics
I wonder who’d have thought
A simple Moabite
By a Jewish man
Would be taken as his bride?
But in just some time
Trials came their way
For her husband died
Will she go or stay?
May our Lord repay you
For everything you’ve done
His reward upon you
For what you have begun
A multitude of people
Will follow in your steps
Finding refuge under
The wings of God who helps
I wonder who’d have thought
In Israel she would go
Ruth is taking care
Of her mother-in-law
Working in the fields
With a humble heart
Boaz noticed her
And he’ll play a part
May our Lord repay you
For everything you’ve done
His reward upon you
For what you have begun
A multitude of people
Will follow in your steps
Finding refuge under
The wings of God who helps
I wonder who’d have thought
That she would be found
By the good Boaz?
What a turnaround!
They got married then
Starting a new life
Ruth has now become
Quite the master’s wife
May our Lord repay you
For everything you’ve done
His reward upon you
For what you have begun
A multitude of people
Will follow in your steps
Finding refuge under
The wings of God who helps
The wings of God who helps
The wings of God who helps!
I wonder who’d have thought
A simple Moabite ...
... would be in God’s sovereignty the great-grandmother of King David of Israel and many years later from her line would be born the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ.
