As I said on another video, Flemington was so much more fun before it was paved. Used to go with my dad until it closed. This video was like being there. So good to hear Bill Singer's voice! I remember watching these people in turn 4 sitting there holding up a plastic sheet every time the pack past. Just need mud flying into my beer! Thanks for the memories!

Miss this track more than ever now. This is where I remember my first race my dad took me too. I was five. He just past yesterday. He graduated from North Hunterdon High. Class of 61.

Holy hell they ripped around this track. They made the modified features seem like traffic jams.

I grew up here every Saturday night thru all the 80s till the 90s when they paved it! Harry Dee best Flag Man EVER! BEST DIRT TRACK EVER! this is great!

@@jamesloesch7515 Yes! That's awesome! I just turned 44 in January of this year and I have a photo still of his car the blue one I got from Ace Lane with Garfield on it! lol Well I hope you guys are doing great and let him know us fans who were kids in the 80s are still out here just happen to be 44 this year and will never forget the great racing he helped provide for us for so many years! If I close my eyes they begin to water and burn as remember the special fuel alcohol mix that the mods ran that I still love today! lol we know one thing for sure! Flemington was an amazing track and whenever we have a great thing in life we can count on stupid people to screw up eventually so just go into everyday hammered down get sideways and shower them with clay and dirt every chance we get! Because it's FUN!
Thanks for answering and thanks for having the videos to share as we all share the memory from a different point of view then but now we share it almost as one and you are able to provide that window for us!
Thank you and remember... Here's to slide jobbing stupid people in life at every turn we get and then lap them wide open Top Side cause it's a Flemington Thing and the only thing in life that's FAIR! That's why!

Flemington got paved and attendance went way down. I so wish I was older so I could've appreciated this track more when it was here. I was under 10 when I used to go to the track so I didn't get to races much. went to a few but not many.

@@robertschmitt6208 I used to think so too but Raritan Township wanted the fairgrounds moved for a long time. Businesses complained about the dust for years, especially the Hunterdon Medical Center causing the Kuhl's to pave it. I used to think they paved it to get NASCAR there but learning from the inside, they did all they could to keep attendance up. When the Grosso's opened NES as dirt, the Flem dirt fans migrated and already low attendance and car counts tanked even further. It died the day it was paved though.

@@howfararewenow1683 Albany Saratoga speedway opened in 1965 as a paved track back then asphalt was as popular as dirt racing but in the 70,s and 80's dirt started to take over so they put the clay down and it flourished, they also complained about the dust so they went back to asphalt racing and the crowds went down, now its back to dirt since the early 90's and its flourishing again, guys like jack johnson, brett hearn were big stars, summertime in that area is very popular theirs a lot of money in the capital district, huge car counts every friday and the crowds are good, i spent a summer working in the Flemington area back in 1989 went to the races every saturday night, my home track is Fonda speedway the crowds are not what they used to be but what track is, the racing and car counts are real good, Stewart Friesen is king here now!
