Jill -- so sorry this has been a confusing experience. Our teams are looking into your issue as a priority and we'll follow up as soon as we know more. Thanks for providing this information!
What’s crazy is that Creators have to jump through ALL of those hoops just to get help. Tweeting and emailing and filling out forms that don’t work and linked in messaging and asking followers for ideas and making videos…
@@Andreamom001 sadly, this is how things are in all big corporations (I've worked at several, although none the size of Google). With the sheer number of people in the company, who each have their different specialisation, coordinating all of them so that issues get resolved gets pretty much impossible and it all becomes just a huge chaotic mess where an insane amount of issues slip through the cracks. Frustrating for a customer but also very frustrating for the employees who have absolutely no power over the system.
And highly suspicious. Like if youtube *coincidentally* started applying a very vague, shady new policy into their demonitization code, one that makes it very easy for innocent channels to have their ad revenue -stolen- revoked, during the SINGLE MOST PROFITABLE point in the year... Sounds more like upper management waved some dollar bills in front of IT's face, cried "make it happen, we've had too slow a quarter for the investors liking. Profit losses have to be made back somewhere. So just take it out of the creators pockets! It's not like those peasants can do anything."
This is what the post AI world will look like for everything. Computers saying "no". Very few humans involved. Those that are will be in "offshore" cubicle factories and not know anything. I'm betting once a human finally gets to the disabling reason in some arcane log file for an automated process they will find `null reference exception` and the default action is to disable for "safety". Good luck Jill!
War of the algorithms. I’ve never seen one of your videos before, but this was promoted for me on TH-cam’s first row of videos. Hope it gets sorted soon.
'Your account has been disabled for reason: other/misc' Oh dear. I've worked in IT, and if an issue doesn't have an option on the drop-down box, that tends to mean 'this support ticket is going to be a learning experience'. Good call on being polite with the emails to the support people; I'd bet that at least one of them is having a bad day trying to sort it out. (Either that, or no-one's taken it on yet and they're quietly hoping it goes away - in which case politeness is still a good idea; people are less likely to go out of their way to help someone who's being rude to them)
Work on the web side. That "Wait a few days and try again," is probably code for "We've opened an internal ticket with the web team." My personal bet is the fix for this is going to involve a senior engineer with DB permissions. Given the trends in tech right now, Google might be a bit short on senior engineers who can actually fix the problem.
I am suddenly remembering he old joke where the doctor says, "I have good news and bad news.... the good news is you're going to have a disease named after you."
@@arthurmoore9488 and remember, this senior engineer needs to be in the correct department, with correct credentials, maybe even in a specific team in charge of one of ~500 microservices that make up youtube. If there even is anyone in charge of it. Big companies tend to quietly abandon maintenance on critical stuff due to turnover. There is always "that one service we're in charge of but nobody knows anything about". Source - working in a company like that
These sort of situations are always so frustrating. You have a contractual relationship with a large entity that strictly enforces the contract so that you must uphold your end, but there is absolutely nothing you can personally do to hold them accountable.
It's all about power dynamics. You need them because they are a significant, possibly only, source of income for you. They need you in the same way a builder needs a single grain of sand. They do need grains of sand to mix their cement, but if one falls on the floor then what is it to them. The only ways to even start to equalise that imbalance is if the individual gets the weight of government regulation behind them. But big tech is too new for governments to have even started trying to regulate them. Or getting enough other grains of sand involved to make the problem noticeable. Which is hard work and something not everyone has the resources to do, but i hope it succeeds in this case
It would be funny to see how Alphabet felt if regulation turned the relation upside down e.g. make them either reinstate the accounts and triple the payout for the blocked duration or face each little producer in small claims court with an exponentially increasing penalty for each false positive they can't explain away in court (and they have to pay both sides time and legal costs). The personal liberty of executives and multi billion payouts are the only things that can force organisational change through the legal system. I guess we could also do nothing and wait while the problem gets worse and worse. At least until members of the public crowdsource randomised acts of capital punishment on the leadership of said organisations, but that would be crazy. Nobody could want that.
@@WhichDoctor1it's not new tho. Google is like 25 years old. So is TH-cam. It's not too new, it's just that they're paying ppl off... Well politicians, not ppl like Jill apparently
There should definitely be a procedure in place that if you can't find out why the demonetisation happened, your partner manager should be able to force a remonetisation and any further action should pend that manager's approval before demonetisation can happen again.
Aight, Patron joined. Your content is worth it. You've divined the root of the problem - the entire platform is automated and there's no overrides for support to fix what the Borg collective has decided. Have you considered Rumble?
This is not first time it's happened. The creators need to sick lawyers on them. The reason why this issue exists, and has existed for almost a decade now, is because it doesn't hit the higher ups pocket books. Once it starts costing them a pretty penny, they will jump on it.
Might be worth contacting the partner manager again by LinkedIn, specifically to say the creator support team has contacted them to tell them to make an internal appeal. Then asking them what they're going to do so you can get a response and prove they've seen it. I think while being polite and understanding in conversations is always important and useful, you're now past the point where you can afford to be polite and understanding in *how* you contact people. You have effectively been fired for no reason and your manager is ghosting you - you are well within your rights to start kicking down doors, and if LinkedIn gets responses then LinkedIn is your new best friend, even if it seems rude to badger somebody through that. Remember, shy bairns get nowt. Besides that, good luck, and I hope this Kafkaesque nightmare relents soon!
It's getting to the point that you have to find the mother of your partner manager on Facebook, telling her how her child isn't doing their job and you haven't been paid in weeks.
@@benwagner5089 On one hand, that's probably crossing a line. On the other hand, that is a hilarious idea and sadly is probably one of the only things that would actually work at this point.
To be honest, contacting employees of a company privately, espsecially repeteadly, is crossing a line especially since companies like this usually have a policy in place preventing them from communicating business topics via private social media channels. Its very well possible that said employee simply is not allowed to answer her.
@@wombatillo If you want a fair system: You are clear, and transparent. If you want to push a particular idea or set of ideologies: Transparency is your enemy - fairness is not something you want to actually ensure exists, instead, you want the illusion of such. Of course there are other factors - such as, with any sort of wide scale autonomous system you do NOT want there to be rapid A-B testing abilities. However, there are ways to handle this and still provide the information when necessary to fix the issue. And for long standing channels - that should be the default.
I have never heard of you before but this video was on my feed so your making a fuss is working for the algorithm. Hoping for a Christmas miracle for ya
My ad sense monetization was banned 13 years ago. They've never let me make money on anything Google related since. I've appealed several times over the years and am always denied. Apparently, all it takes is ONE PERSON to click your ads like a lunatic to get you demonitized. Which... you know... seems like something someone who hates you would do TO YOU if they wanted to hurt you. But Google doesn't care.
I find it utterly baffling (yet am not surprised) that your channel, with over half a million subscribers, can be demonetised by TH-cam at the drop of a hat without them providing a clearly and concisely stated reason. ALSO that they can’t apparently be bothered to try to fast track a problem for someone who must (surely?) be well up in the higher tiers of creators. “Too big to care”, a mantra for too many corporations. Hope this gets resolved swiftly.
Not to be that guy, but in this day and age in TH-cam, 500k is nothing. There are literally tens thousands of creators with about 500k subs. This is, of course, unacceptable and highly unfortunate for Jill. But she is nowhere even close to high priority for TH-cam as a platform.
As with many of youtube's issues (and any other similarly large company) it'll keep happening until such time as someplace like the EU decides they have some actual legal obligations to do better, or it otherwise impacts their bottom line. And then they'll still just do the quickest and laziest version of whatever brings them into compliance, and ignore whatever problems that generates until the same happens again. At the end of the day, youtube's customers are the advertisers: as long as they're happy the suits don't give a damn about either the creators or the viewers. Which is also why public shaming is one of the only ways to get something done... potential advertisers can see those complaints.
I suspect that most of youtubes systems are automated and opaque, meaning that in order to find out why the system has done something and reverse it requires a deep dive by an expert who knows how the system works. I also suspect that these experts are few and far between.
This would be unacceptable for a channel with five subscribers. TH-cam has obligations and this behavior is evil. I mean I know Google changed their slogan from "don't be evil" to "MWAAAHAHAHHAHAAAAAA decades ago but it's still, you know, wtaf
This made me remember when my son turned 8 years old and the social security system showed that he was 18 and he lost his family allowance and it took me 3 years and dozens of letters to be able to solve the matter and prove his age and now when I go to the social security website in my son page appears a salary that he supposedly received in 1980 but he was born in 1993. And of course they didn't pay the 3 years of missing benefits.
@nocturnusrg5389, That makes me wonder if another person has the same social security number. I have had three social insurance numbers: the first one was invalid and shared with another person, the second one was mis-printed and also invalid, the third one is the one I am currently using.
I don't think TH-cam intends to fix this opaque process, Jill, and I'm very sorry you're having to go through this. I believe it's almost deliberate, actually, because TH-cam does continue to run ads on demonetized videos and channels. They just don't share any revenue with you. I can just about guarantee you were demonetized by an AI, which means they definitely don't know why you were demonetized, and the process is intentionally Kafkaesque to get you to give up and accept that your mnetization needs to be through Patreon and Ko-fi from now on. So while the individual people you're not yelling at are probably very glad you're not yelling at them, I appreciate your persistence on this. Eventually they'll be forced to either come up with some excuse that would stand up to legal scrutiny for you to have been demonetized or reinstate your monetization. The former is not impossible given that the terms of the program and the community guidelines are intentionally as vague as possible, but you've run a very carefully clean channel free of anything objectionable.
Yeah, it probably wont be fixed unless EU makes some sort of directive that forces them to fix it, like making it mandatory it specify clearly what the violation has been in order to enforce the ToS/EULA
"CensorTube" is proof they are not concerned with free speech, people's rights, or doing what's right, despite google's original slogan "Don't be Evil" ...which is now "Do the right thing" ...Which apparently has more to do with shareholders than morality 🙄
@@ladyethyme the difference with FB is that it still needs people to go brrr. TH-cam doesn't need "small" creators. It has deals with legacy media to power it.
Years ago I worked in an IT Department and our team had to evaluate a 'Work In Progress' Business Administration System. During our testing we raised cases, queries, identified problems and referred individual situations to the relevant departments. At the end of the testing procedure all our ongoing cases had been closed. We then stared blankly at our screens because we had no record of any resolution, to any query, and none of the relevant departments (to which queries were referred) had any ongoing cases either. Management pushed us to complete the evaluation of the system and push it into production.
Commenting to boost engagement. I'm not subscribed, but I have seen your content a half-dozen times (all good!), so the algo dropped this video into my home list. Sorry to hear about the problems. I offer my encouragement and also a metaphorical five-gallon bucket of industrial-strength administrative patience paste for you to artfully (and metaphorically) smear upon your devices and flat surfaces like walls and counter/table tops. My hope is that when you look around in the coming days, all you see will be administrative patience.
Have you considered morphing into a giant anthropomorphic insect, get a glass of wine, eat some cheese, and muse on the futility of the human condition?
That is the world we are turning into. The Trial is more apt, but I get your point. I was once hauled into HR. I did or said something that offended someone in the past six months. I was not given any more information, but told not to do it again.
Came here for the Kafka reference. :) After a protracted trial and nonsensical bureaucratic nightmare, without ever learning the charges, Jill's adsense account was taken out to a quarry and put down "Like a dog!" Good luck navigating the labyrinth Jill!
I think that is effectively the case. The "AI" is more properly an Artificial Stupidity System. I will leave it to you to work out what to call it for short
Starting to wonder if there's enough people affected to form a class for a class action lawsuit. You'd hope that messing with peoples income without a clearly defined reason would be illegal in some way, my jaded mind figures there's some random loophole or clause that exempts Google/TH-cam from litigation for such a thing though.
Shittification in action. Beancounters at Google demand value for AI investments, and TH-cam has always been an expensive pleasure. If I was a video creator, I would look for an alternative provider right about now. And realize that to the faceless Google Corp, we are all just disposable cash cows.
Props to you for staying polite with the support staff, and good luck getting this sorted out. I'd say keep talking to your manager through Linkedin, if that's what gets results (or at least responses) then that's just what you have to do
9:10 "Nobody can tell me cause nobody knows" This is one of the big problems with having such an over reliance on AI, it's wonky even in the best of times and in the worst it's outright more destructive than having malware/viruses. At this point, might as well just fill an office with cats and let them decide things by randomly walking/sleeping on the keyboards.
As part of the TH-cam policies, that TH-cam should pay you back what you are owed over the period of demonetisation period and more (interest for waiting) and a massive apology for youtube policy AI for flagging you over NOTHING. PETITION anyone?
Just insane. Reminds me of the time I went full circle in an office as everyone was directing me to another person ("not my jurisdiction, but ask person z"), ending with the first one I asked. After very politely pointing out that SOMEONE must be responsible, they finally scrambled and found an entirely different person which then could resolve the issue. Took quite some time
Some years back, when my folks were overseas (Dad was in the US Foreign Service), they were having a problem with the IRS. They finally faxed me all the papers and asked me to see if I could help at this end. I walked into the local IRS office and after a long wait was able to talk with an obviously exhausted and disinterested guy about my age. I explained the problem, he skimmed over the papers for about 15 seconds and said out loud, "Oh, f*k, I don't believe them... Please wait a moment, sir." He disappeared into the back and about 2 minutes later came out, gave me back my papers plus one page of printed gobbeldygook and told me (verbatim): "Those idiots in Philadelphia don't know their a*s from their elbow, this should take care of the problem, fax this page back to your parents so they know it's fixed, thanks for being patient with me." I gave him a big thank-you and shook his hand and my folks' problem magically disappeared. It just takes one idiot to screw things up... but if you find the one decent human being hidden within the cogs of the machine, things will probably work out OK.
Been following the woeful demonetization saga. Watched Passengers (Pratt and Lawrence) for the first time a few days ago, and thought in the first minutes after Pratt wakes up, "This is the same story!"
Oh the joys of Google. I used to work on Adwords and every time something got flagged it was a nightmare trying to sort it out. Thankfully we got hold of a number for the call centre and got used to asking for the right people to get results, but I feel your pain with the constant back and forth. Hope it gets sorted soon x
I think your other comment about your comments getting deleted got deleted lol. I replied to it, but then when I went to check if my comment posted, yours was gone along with my reply.
One of the iron laws of bureaucracy is that any sufficiently large organization resembles your least favourite government department in terms of bureaucratic efficiency. I think that another aspect is in play here too - rigid administrative rules (in this case algorithmically administered) result in Kafka-esque situations because the rules themselves are never able to foresee every situation and lack the flexibility to be judiciously applied.
It’s like taxes. They know what you owe, they have all the information, but god forbid they just tell you - and if you can’t figure it out correctly, you will absolutely be punished i. various mind numbing ways and be kept in a constant loop of “try this, oh that didn’t work? Oh nooo!” Rinse and repeat. I’m so sorry Jill, you have our support! *Edit: American taxes. I don’t want to generalize, there are some very informative comments about other countries that don’t make the process so exhausting!
In Sweden, they send you a detailed letter of your taxes with a total at the bottom. And if everything is correct, they just subtract your taxes automatically. Seriously, all we have to do if things are correct is send a short text message...
@ Well, that’s because Sweden actually likes when things work - and hasn’t let tax agencies lobby to make taxes more and more difficult so they can “encourage” people to use their services instead of just doing it themselves. It’s ridiculous here. As an aside, Sweden really does seem lovely. Hello from the states!
@ninino86 It sounds like Sweden doesn't have tax lobbiests that fight tooth and nail to prevent simplifying the tax code or to keep large tax accounting tool companies in business.
@@dancedancelauren Norwegian here, our situation is the same as Sweden's, and if you do have a problem, their helpline is actually helpful, because it's in their best interest that people pay their taxes. I think this is very much to the point of what's going on with TH-cam - individual creators matter very little to them, unless you're MrBeast or something. Add to that the fact that you don't really have any alternative platforms with the same reach, and the fact that no one's mandating that they have good service, and you'll end up with an entity that's REALLY disincentivised from doing anything other that let you stew in your own juices while they take your money. I think Jill is doing the only sensible thing here, which is incentivising them to fix her problem so she'll stop shaming them.
Sadly this appears to be the way with google. The opacity is absolutely intentional, and broadspread through the tech industry, and while it has some reasons, we really do need systematic change which will require recourse to something more than their whim.
@dclark142002 actually no, that is the worst thing she could do right now. It means talk to your representative, and organise with other creators and influencers for systemic regulation and change.
Sorry this happened. I was demonetised a couple of years ago, it took about 10 days to sort. It was an absolute nightmare. It's like trying to have a conversation with a brick wall.
When I was in Tech Support, I got called into my manager's cube to be tolf, "You did something and got a complaint." "OK, what did I do?" "I can't tell you that.." "OK, who complained?" "I can't tell you that. But you need to not do this again." I turned around and walked out of that waste of time. The manager tried to write me up for that; the upper level manager told her to piss off and quite wasting their time. That manager got reassigned shortly after and I got a raise. So I do feel your pain; arguing with ID10Ts can ruin your sleep. I hope this gets resolved quickly. I really enjoy this channel.
You have been accused by an unspecified person of having committed an unspecified infraction of an unspecified policy at an unspecified date and time. You are hereby ordered to never again repeat this unspecified behavior.
Sounds like the problems I have with Facebook being an admin in a group. One of your group members just posted a naughty. Okay, what did they post? Can't show you. Who was it? Can't tell you. What rule did they break? Can't tell you. Then how the he11 am I supposed to prevent it from happening again? That's a "you" problem. Just don't let it happen again.
"That manager got reassigned shortly after and I got a raise." in corporate environments usually means the manager got the bigger raise. Peter principle.
@@andreashabermas7964 That's not what the Peter Principle is. The Peter Principle is the observation that if people are promoted for doing a job well, they will spend a relatively small fraction of their careers doing something they are good at then eventually find themselves doing something they are not good at and will languish for the rest of their careers in that position.
Can confirm that the inside of a massive organization is just as frustrating on the inside as on the outside (I don't work for Google but I do work for a large tech company and routinely run into "this is broken how do I fix it? X doesn't work" "Have you tried doing X?") I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
I worked with a guy who wrote manuals for nuclear power stations and once in a while they had a test to find the cases where the flowchart told them to do X.
I worry about this all the time. The stress of randomly getting canceled for no reason happens way to often and keeps me up at night. I have had about 6 issues where I contacted support for TH-cam- and have only had 1 of them resolved. The people that work at TH-cam support are more clueless than the AI, at least at the help desk level. Growing up I worked on the helpdesk and what I have learned is, if you are not getting your answers from support, demand to have it escalated. They may try to "de-escalate" you once, but then they will hand you over. This does work, and you will get a "more senior" represented from TH-cam to work on your case. Sadly, they are not trained well either. I don't know if it's a training thing, or they just teach them how to run around in circles on purpose. The copyright system is a mess too, but at least now I have to say, they include the timeframe of the issue and why it happened.
They've started painting over the "Don't Be Evil" sign, but stopped at "Don't" . . . Also, anyone else suddenly getting black text on a black background in the comment box? This started the other day. I've also not found how to turn off the dark theme.
I've had that problem for a while (maybe a month or two), however only on the phone app for some reason. It seems to either only be on certain videos or it depends on how/when I open the app.
Yes, I noticed it like yesterday or maybe it was the weekend. I normally prefer Dark Theme, but I had to switch to Light Theme in order to see what I am writing in the comments.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I love your video and have your book on my bedside table. I really appreciate your politeness and humor in this maddening chaos. Merry Christmas!
Twitter downgrades links now (Hank green has a video demonstrating this), so the best you can probably do is share her existing tweets about this mess.
Sticking with TH-cam Wisdom, you need the Eagle team. I forget what his channel is called that he ends it with, or I’ll see you in court. That’s enough information to ask and identify it with Chat GTP.
I had my Adsense suspended without warning about 15 years ago. It ended up killing all revenue from my new website and channel tanking it completely. It was an error on Google's side, but the account remains disabled (regardless of appeals). I am glad you are able to get support from your community at least some people at the company. I hope it gets resolved soon.
This is mind-blowingly frustrating. Props for being patient and not getting angry with YT's support staff since we all know they also have no control over this. Hopefully this all works out soon!
Whether it's anything official or just regular company bull, every time something like this happens, I am always reminded of the Asterix bit with "The Place That Sends You Mad" (been through it too often myself), and it makes me feel if not better then at least not as bad. Everything crossed for you, Jill, I'll see what I can find in terms of money for ko-fi buying
There's an entire Douglas Adams text adventure called Bureaucracy that uses blood pressure as health (too high = aneurysm = game over). I think Jill might be playing it.
Following this saga is giving me second hand frustration because in theory, this shouldn’t be that hard to fix. Honestly the fact that Google can get away with having a customer support system this terrible is the best argument I’ve heard for breaking up the company with anti-trust.
Lol, talking about it, are they? Biden's Justice Department can talk all it wants. We'll see what the billionaire who wants to cut social security says about how unfair youtube is lol. Come on man.
This channel has made my writing significantly better, if I had some spare I'd donate money but I don't so I'm glad other people can and have. It sucks that TH-cam can just do this kind of thing to good creators and give you the run-around like this. I wonder if TH-camrs could unionize or something...
Wow, I'm sorry you have to deal with all this. If it helps, the way you explain your titanic battle with mindless bureaucratic a**clowns was very entertaining. You have earned my subscription. LOL!
Really hoping this gets sorted with you. This all sounds soul crushing and absolutely daft. So thanks and hope to those that have been trying to help you get back upright on this situation.
Last year my channel broke in the form of not sending notifications to subscribers about new videos, so they got no immediate views, and so no ongoing views, and so there was no point in me uploading any videos. Existing ones were still working fine tho. Every time I messaged support it went to a new person so I had to repeat the issue, which then went to a new person and so had to repeat the issue again, and this went on for more than a dozen employees until I just sort of gave up and accepted that I no longer had a TH-cam Channel. They did finally fix it tho, eleven and a half months later. Apparently it was a bug so rare and new that they named it after me, which is I guess somewhat comforting..?
More likely, they named it after you because you were insistent enough to appear in their records when they eventually admitted it affected so many they shouldn't ignore it. Likely hundreds of people had the problem before you but were turned away by the first layers of unhelpfulness.
You have a very healthy way of dealing with this, good on you! Bad that youtube's reliance on algorithms has proceeded so far that people working there have a hard time reversing or even understanding them. That's scary.
Hoping that " Internal " Review means it actually involves humans and that they actually get around to it in their plodding fashion ( Did your D&D Group get to see the Unicorn Sanctuary ? )
We did! There were baby ones and rainbows and everything! We then, predictably, caused chaos. Also apparently my character is involved in a love triangle now because my DM thinks he’s funny. (He is, to be fair, very funny)
Jill, this might influence you to write a new novel, a Kafaka-esque nightmare about a TH-camr whose account is disabled and when she start to investigate, things start to get more and more absurd and surreal, and finaly it is revealed that Google itself is a Lovecraftian Eldritch Entity that feeds on the sanity of its users by slowly turning them insane with bots and bureucracy. But she kills the entity with the sword concealed in her dress... It would definitely be a bestseller. 😊
They put AI in charge, and nobody knows what it is doing or what it is for. Also, they are not in charge of it anymore. I think of the mad hatter's tea party, where they are stuffing his watch with butter and when it doesn't fix it. They comment it is the very best butter. Well, it is the very best AI, and its intelligent is entirely artificial.
I think TH-cam is more like the "Oozlum Bird" ... "Behavior: When startled, the oozlum bird takes off and flies faster and faster, in smaller and tighter circles, until it disappears ( _up it's own backside_ ). It's also said to be able to fly backwards and let the earth turn underneath it." So I guess it also goes back in time and restart the process over and over... 😉
I wouldn't even have been able to contact the partner manager in all these different ways, like you did. I have neither a twix nor a linkedin account. The fact that you need all these, just so you can contact someone, who is supposedly able to help you, is ridiculous... Wishing you luck, Jill.
TH-cam built a black box and they don't have any idea what's going on in their own system. This can never end well for the company that uses this type of system. Plan according.
You gained a subscriber. 💛 You had me at "D&D" even though your channel isn't. I hear your frustration with the higher ups. I've had the most luck reaching them on Twitter. Good luck with your struggle. We're all rooting for you.
I feel for you....I have been booted from two different platforms for no reason. I wish you all the best and have a merry Christmas and a beautiful New Year!🎄🧑🎄🎄
This is the kind of thing where getting your MP involved might be able to speed things along. There are lots of instances where receiving a letter from an MP's Parliamentary office will suddenly lead a company that they can actually fix the problem quickly and easily, Plus it slightly raises the chances of introducing regulation to protect creators based in the UK from things like this. It might not work (some MPs are really good at helping constituents with this kind of problem, others are really bad at it). But it's definitely an additional thing to try.
Speaking as one of the folks who gets called in when the executives actually care (not for Google, but we exist in any sufficiently large company): Yes. This. Or in the US, possibly one of the "help me fix it" media crews. Executives are human and will put off as lower priority anything that does not put the fear of lost money into them -- even the nice enough ones. I guarantee you that there is at least one expert there who can follow this no matter how weird it may be under the hood, the trick is getting someone important enough to assign their time to point them at this problem rather than some other.
Why did my mind immediately go to Clacton as well... But fear not, Sleazebaggano is now planning to buy the next UK election, so everything will be hunky-dory very soon!
@@RichWoods23 That depends on whether Farage is using Reform's Parliamentary funding to pay people to do the casework part of the job for him. In addition to the expenses that all MPs get to fund their offices, there's something called Short money which goes to opposition parties based on their number of MPs and share of the vote at the last election (government MPs don't get it because they have the civil service working for them). Because Reform got such a high vote relative to their number of seats they have far more money to fund their Parliamentary and constituency offices. They, like the Greens, actually got the maximum amount of Short money for their number of MPs. So the offices for the MPs from both of those parties are better funded than those for any other party.
Does anyone think yt has a thing against cheese? 1 I've been hearing this complaint about adsense for over a decade 2 it's the second reason I've never contemplated making videos 3 why does it always seem to happen to the interesting creators 4 I truly think yt only cares about the larger companies that can afford teams of lawyers 5 I hope it resolves for you soon.
I've seen a few creators recently with the same issues and one was able to narrow it down to YT's AI bot flagging stuff as false positives. It's possible the human's looking into your issue may not actually know why you were flagged if it's a generic category because that covers a wide range of issues and if the human looking at your videos may not be able to find what flagged it in the first place meaning that it can't be addressed (read as fixed) at all. I suggest keep shaming them on online as you have.
Not just creators, but I had a private playlist of 1,000+ videos taken down earlier this year along with a policy "warning" - keep in mind, none of the videos were my own. I've heard reports of others with private playlists getting struck for the same reason as well. Yet appeals went nowhere, and nobody can explain exactly what was in that playlist that warranted destroying the whole thing, when it (a) wasn't publicly accessible and (b) I was not the content creator. AI is good for some things, but when it is making decisions that impact others, there should be a human review before any penalties are assessed (and those penalties are only if the human concurs with the AI, inconclusive results should not be penalized).
I am so going to hell, for giggling like crazy at this presentation. Seriously Jill, you could make an excellent stand-up comedy routine out of this whole nightmare. You have that deadpan-in-the-face-of-abject-absurdity thing down pat. Best of luck, with lots of wishes for that the material for this potential comedy routine dries out within the upcoming few hours.

Oh dear.
That "Wait a few days and try again," is probably code for "We've opened an internal ticket with the web team."
My personal bet is the fix for this is going to involve a senior engineer with DB permissions. Given the trends in tech right now, Google might be a bit short on senior engineers who can actually fix the problem.

These sort of situations are always so frustrating. You have a contractual relationship with a large entity that strictly enforces the contract so that you must uphold your end, but there is absolutely nothing you can personally do to hold them accountable.
It is times like this when I begin to understand why people turn to violence.

The irony that there are people who claim private businesses work efficiently and lack the bureaucracy one might find in government.

Add to that the fact that you don't really have any alternative platforms with the same reach, and the fact that no one's mandating that they have good service, and you'll end up with an entity that's REALLY disincentivised from doing anything other that let you stew in your own juices while they take your money.

I've also not found how to turn off the dark theme.
oh, the theme selection reappeared this time. It was changed from Dark, to Device.
No, they fixed the punctuation. It was supposed to be "Don't, be evil"
@@Ludvagn TH-cam does A/B testing. We've all had the joys of broken features, because they use it as an excuse to QA in prod.
I hope the rest of your December is more peaceful than the beginning and this is fixed shortly!
I was expecting a livestream! Go get them Jill - you are the one with the sharp pointy things!
I'm so sorry to hear that. I love your video and have your book on my bedside table.
I really appreciate your politeness and humor in this maddening chaos.
Merry Christmas!
What a bureaucratic nightmare! I hope TH-cam gets this sorted quickly, and until they do, keep making noise. 💪We're rooting for you.
I'm sharing this on Twitter. It will help if this dumpster fire trends on that dumpster fire.
Dumpster fire recursion leads to Fireball!
Fireball fixes everything! The wizard said so!
Wonderful spell, Fireball - Fizban
Twitter downgrades links now (Hank green has a video demonstrating this), so the best you can probably do is share her existing tweets about this mess.
Should we share on Bluesky too?
I can't help you, but I enjoy your rant so much! I hope someday this videos will generate a lot of ad income! 😂
Same here.
This all just sounds like Chat Bots at Google trying to talk to each other...and failing (expectedly) miserably
Glad to see you're back in business Jill!!!
Get a lawyer. One phone call with a really good threat and they'll fix this within 48hrs.
I am so sorry this is happening, and I really hope it gets resolved soon. Dealing with TH-cam and Google support is always a nightmare.
This is mind-blowingly frustrating. Props for being patient and not getting angry with YT's support staff since we all know they also have no control over this. Hopefully this all works out soon!
Bah! So sorry for your struggle! Just purchased the ebook and will be enjoying over the holidays! 💚
what an infuriating nightmare! hope this gets sorted out soon ❤
Hehe. Yes the one with the Form "A38"
There's an entire Douglas Adams text adventure called Bureaucracy that uses blood pressure as health (too high = aneurysm = game over). I think Jill might be playing it.
Yes, I had to think of Asterix as well.
Following this saga is giving me second hand frustration because in theory, this shouldn’t be that hard to fix. Honestly the fact that Google can get away with having a customer support system this terrible is the best argument I’ve heard for breaking up the company with anti-trust.
It's being considered. I believe our incoming president has a plan to do just that.
@@ArthurRex131 Hahahahaha...no he doesn't

Aaah yes. Classic TH-cam. 😊 The Saga we did not need but TH-cam made sure came into existence. 🎉
Kafka is nodding and taking notes.
Yeah! Sooo true. This could be "Der Prozess"

That is more likely, yes.
Also I was wrong, it wasn't eleven and a half months, it was fifteen.
You should make a video about it lol
No one would have seen it.
You have a very healthy way of dealing with this, good on you! Bad that youtube's reliance on algorithms has proceeded so far that people working there have a hard time reversing or even understanding them. That's scary.
Sounds like a Monty Python skit from the Department of Redundancy Department and the Ministry of Silly Walks.....
Hoping that " Internal " Review means it actually involves humans
and that they actually get around to it in their plodding fashion
( Did your D&D Group get to see the Unicorn Sanctuary ? )
We did! There were baby ones and rainbows and everything!
We then, predictably, caused chaos.
Also apparently my character is involved in a love triangle now because my DM thinks he’s funny.
(He is, to be fair, very funny)
@@JillBearup 😃😃Yea !
I'd read it.
Sign me up for a copy!
It wouldn't work because the only villain would be a computer, so there's no chance for a love interest.

😂😂😂
REDUNDANT REDUNDANCY SIR!!!
I have never heard about you or your channel but I think that's probably a good thing because it means your video is spreading, good luck.
George Orwell wrote: "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face-for ever". Did he predict TH-cam?
It's worse. They don't *want* to have any idea what's going on. That's why they design the systems not to give any reasons ever.
You gained a subscriber. 💛
You had me at "D&D" even though your channel isn't.
"others are really bad at it"
Is this another way of saying that if you live in Clacton you're screwed?
@@RichWoods23 Common Clacton L.
1 I've been hearing this complaint about adsense for over a decade
2 it's the second reason I've never contemplated making videos
3 why does it always seem to happen to the interesting creators
4 I truly think yt only cares about the larger companies that can afford teams of lawyers
5 I hope it resolves for you soon.
That's the challenge with depending on a Ouija board and a Magic 8 Ball for your income.
9:30 you should have just stopped the sentence at "they will never fix their processes." Its more accurate that way.
"... It will be stupid in a moment..." It's stupid NOW !
Everything about this situation is so ridiculously kafkaeque that I both immediately believe that it happens all the time but also that it should be the content of some kind of fictional horror story about being at the mercy of frustrating arbitrary bureaucracy.
