    My mother was the one who taught me to cross stitch, on a bet. I would finish a project and she would play a game. I was eight, age eighteen I held her too it and had her play stardew valley for an i game day! I have it on tape! Might have gotten her into spiritfarer, doesn’t make her dizzy. But now I’m a member of my states cross stitch group. And have finished several projects in the last year. But watching you kind of makes me want to set up time lapses of my own❤

    I don’t know what I am more impressed by, the fact that you did this without gridding the fabric or that you did this color by color! Loved watching this come together!

    As a beginner it was interesting watching how you worked, no gridding or anything, pretty impressive! I don't think I could have coped with all that brown, I'm doing 4 medium sized flowers in yellow currently, and I'm heartily sick of yellow. I loved seeing the shapes of the trees appearing, really effective end result.

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ya, that was the really cool part about doing one colour at a time and starting with the highest stitch count! It really brought out the shapes. I don't usually grid but it would probably help me out lol. I tend to use my other stitches as a reference point.

    You've inspired me to try doing full-coverage by doing all of one color at a time. Amazing job!

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not always easy, but you get a fun progression for sure! Gridding helps, but in this particular piece, there is so many black stitches, I kind of used them as my grid lol.

    i need that table to put down the pattern and do my stitches more easily because rn with the round stretcher thing, its useful but also very not nice when you have a big sheet ...

    Wow! This is so amazing! Congratulations on completing such a wonderful piece! How many skeins of black did you use, do you remember? Thank you for posting! I'm going to follow you on Twitch. 💖

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! It was 13k stitch of just black, I think it was like 6 or 7 skeins at least! I don't have the pattern linked here ( I probably should), but if you go on my twitch chat, you can type in !pattern to get a link even when I'm offline!

    Wow!! This is amazing. What count are you using?

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was done on 16 count! I think in the future I will go back to 16 count. The next cross stitch video I hope to have up soon will have been on 20 count, and my current project is on 18. I think after trying them all, 16 was the easiest to work with!

  • @GnomeStead

    This is made on scroll rods?

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was actually a Q-Snap. It was pretty big, so I liked that I could show nearly the entire piece all at once.

    • @GnomeStead
      @GnomeStead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DuoMTL are they comfortable to create on? Or would you use hoops for smaller projects?

    • @DuoMTL
      @DuoMTL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GnomeStead I use hoops for smaller projects, but I've used this Q-Snap for all the bigger pieces. If you're holding it, it's a little cumbersome, but I use a crafting vice grip that attaches to my desk. A lowery stand would work as well if you aren't crafting at a table/desk.

    • @GnomeStead
      @GnomeStead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DuoMTL thanks, Duo. Fantastic job, btw.

    • @GnomeStead
      @GnomeStead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope you don’t mind me asking more, but I’m curious. Watching you do the massive amount of black that sets up the foundation of the piece, I noticed you skipped around quite a bit. We’re there different shades of black you were using? How in the world did you keep track of where you were on such a large scale? Do you use a conversion program that keeps track of your progress?
